    I’m not even going to show you the traffic charts on how often Wickre, his attorney and confederates look at our website. It’s literally startling that Jonn and I haven’t been called in for some financial accounting for living rent free in what passes for their heads. It reminds me of a scene from Private Parts:

    Anyway, today I wanted to discuss part 34,456 in our ongoing series of love letters that Psul sends us, as well as discuss his wealth accumulation tactic.

    A strong start! Right up front we have antagonists in “unemployed, broke, military has-beens” and some action attacking strangers. Of course, the fact that he keeps trying to have me fired ruins the whole “unemployed” thing. And his lawyer is constantly lamenting violations of the “Posse Comitatus Act” [incorrectly I need not add] so the “has-been” part isn’t accurate. But my favorite part is us “attackibg stragers”. You’ll recall of course, that Palmer Psul the Viking came here to our blog, accused us of being worse than Nazis and then threatened to kill us. Also, there’s the fact we hadn’t written to him or about him in months, but he was sending emails, trying to leave comments, and visiting upwards of 100 times a month. Stragers indeed!

    But, maybe he’s right. Maybe in the deep recess of my mind I’m just jealous. I mean, let’s look at his bio:

    I often think about how men are from Mars, and the stolen valor morons are from Uranus; and more so about what defines each group. Obviously honor is at the top of that list for us. I saw this quote of Teddy Roosevelt today that seemed to sum up our thoughts succinctly:

    Palmer Paul Wickre  still hasn’t learned the fine art of not speaking and putting down the shovel when your hole is deep enough.

    You’ll recall when we last left the Viking Muppet he was calling us “White niggers & low lives”, and “Slugs, cretins and worms.” You will also recall his extensive criminal history. You will recall he doesn’t like Jews, like my attorney:

    Anyway, there’s 18 tons more, but that tells you what a wonderful guy he is.

    So anyway, he got his new website and was soliciting new federal contracts when we received 1 of our dozens of anonymous tips that he had set up Karen Williams, his wife, as the majority shareholder of FirsTech Solutions so as to classify it as a woman-owned business. Her bio was listed prominently on the website:

    The problem with this of course is that Karen Williams is the Legislative Director for Congressman Steve Southerland of Florida, and the company is soliciting federal contracts, which are sometimes set up in bills which come directly from Congress. This clearly creates what appears to be a conflict of interest. Now, because we noted that, he started threatening again:

    At first it was the Congressman who was coming after us:

    However we did find damage in FL and will use that to put your income, job, and savings upside down. As complex, we need a little more time on your posts to the Congressman and your intent to diminish his profession and standing. Leave those posts up as my experts need to record your daily attempts at defamation with harm that you have intended.

    So, we left it up, and yet I heard nothing from the Congressman. (Rep Southerland, please feel free to contact me at any time.)

    Then I got an email from his attorney, Daniel Bernath. (Wickre sent me an email a while back saying that Bernath was now representing him.) Anyway, the email is from Bernath, but it appears to be originally from Wickre, thus sent through his legal representative:

    “seavey you really stepped on your dick now. The Federal Election Commision is investigating your communication and contacts. Good move
    getting the Feds on your ass. “

    Well, the FEC still hasn’t contacted me. I wait patiently by the phone, pining for it to ring, and nothing.

    Yesterday I got another email from Wickre’s attorney, at least part of which again appears to be threats from Wickre***[See Update #2]:

    TSO, you are under far more serious problems, as soon as we are ready. You were inciting a riot with fighting words and got involved in the tortuous interference of my business.

    You are being summoned to Captiol [sic] Hill for sanctions and we are pressing for your firing.

    The “inciting a riot with fighting words” is a reference to the court case of Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire. The problem is, this is what the court said there:

    There are certain well-defined and narrowly limited classes of speech, the prevention and punishment of which have never been thought to raise any constitutional problem. These include the lewd and obscene, the profane, the libelous, and the insulting or “fighting” words those which by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace.

    Did my very utterance tend to incite an immediate breach of peace? No. And Chaplinsky et al would be judicial determinations, why would Congress call me in?

    Second, I think he means “tortious interference” but that won’t work because this isn’t a private contract, it is a federal contract.  In other words, it is my tax money, and thus within the realm of the public sphere.  By way of analogy, remember when everyone put heat on Congress not to have contracts with Planned Parenthood and ACORN?  Yeah, this would be the exact same thing.  The First Amendment supports private journalists and citizens in challenging the wisdom of contractual decisions of it’s federal gov’t without fear of this tort.  So it won’t work.

    But here’s the thing, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to be called before Congress for this. I’ve testified before both the House and Senate more times than I can even remember. I’ve even testified before the House Judiciary Committee, presumably what this threat is, and I would love to go back. I’m sure Chairman Goodlatte and I can reminisce about the last time we talked. Steve Chabot and I can talk about his former campaign manager who sat next to me in law school. Steve King would be there, and he invited me to testify four times before a subcommittee he heads. And what do you think Trey Gowdy and I could talk about? It’d be fun.

    Now, I’m told that a reporter was snooping around, and called Williams. A source told me that she claimed it was all a set up by people stalking her. I don’t think he bought it, but we’ve been waiting long enough for the reporter to cover it, and these knuckleheads are still sending upwards of 10 emails a day. So, a little defense seemed needed.

    So, again, I would love to go before Congress. Because when Paul got his contract with the “Department of Commerce: National Institute of Standards and Technology” for the purchase of Redhat Software, he filed a FAR Report Certification, and although he has now had the government mark it private, we captured it before that:

    So, anyway when this was found, Wickre changed Majority Shareholders to another lady who I am told not only knew nothing about it, but wanted nothing to do with it.  So she was removed from the website too.  We are now on “Female Majority Shareholder” #3 in a month in “Elaine Ricci“:

    Elaine Ricci has been named Chairwoman and majority shareholder of FirsTech Inc. A graduate of a top 5 business school with an MBA, Ricci also holds a Masters from the  Antioch School of Law and a pedigree in Washington Lobbying,

    Ricci has an extensive background in Federal Contracting and an interest in startup business’s and bridge financing in startups and early stage companies.

    Ricci holds interests in technology, IPO’s and advises the venture capital industry on interest rate forecasts and outlook.

     

    I have no idea who she is.  She could be a lovely woman who has no idea her boss is a lunatic with a criminal record.  I honestly don’t care either.  But, she should correct the fact that first para of her bio ends with a comma and not a period.

    I expect more from Wickre in the days to come, because he isn’t smart enough to just stop poking the bear.

    UPDATE: By the way, forgot to mention this, but I have various emails sent to me that originated from Wickre that are soliciting bids and joint efforts that were cc’d to Williams’ congressional email account.

    Note also that the business involves Federal Contracting, and Karen Williams is using her status as a federal employee of a Congressman for puffery.  She is the Legislative Director for Representative (“Rep” not “Con”) Southerland.

    Contrary to the bio, Representative Steve Southerland is a Republican Congressman in the 2nd District, not the 12th.   It has been suggested that a Legislative Director steering federal contracts to a company which he/she is the Chairman and Majority Shareholder of may run afoul of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR Clauses).  I have contacted a lawyer friend specializing in Congressional ethics cases and will have more shortly.

    Representative Southerland’s race is considered a “Toss Up” by Larry Sabato at the University of Virginia Center for Politics.  His opponent is Gwen Graham, who has no employees or campaign staff who have ever to my knowledge threatened to kill my wife, get me fired or sent me racist, homophobic or sexist emails.  Also, I can not confirm that she has pure Viking blood.

    Apparently Karen Williams, wife of Paul Wickre (AKA Palmer Wickre), Legislative Director for Rep. Steve Southerland of Florida continues to solicit government contracts.

    When last we left this story, Paul Wickre, AKA Palmer Wickre of FirsTech had filed suit against Phil Monkress, APL Logistics.  I will have more on that case later this week, but from the initial complaint:

    Dear Mark,

    My wife, business assoiciates, government officials and interested
    parties have come to the conclusion that we should, after a year,
    disinvolve ourselves from the TAH interests, Stolen valor zeal, the
    American Legion, Yourself and Jon Lilyea, Matt Burden, Blake Powers
    and all the rest as no longer in our interests.

    Recently, there has been a decided declaration in our litigation
    involving APL, your initial target. I have control of documents and
    evidence, in a gesture to you, that would support your aspirations as
    to APL and Phil Monkress, even more than you suspected, or originally
    opposed.

    I would like to have a frank discussion, as to how to end our enmity,
    after many months, give you specific information on the case at hand,
    that would allow you to posture and actually show that your drumbeat
    was correct and there is much more afoot, that you did not know, all

    position all along, as I am now legally concluded with Phil Monkress
    and no longer need be an obstacle to your position. Naturally You

    litigious proof as to Monkress and APL regarding TAH.

    The olive branch comes with proposition of the handshake, as to lower
    the sword. The facts in eveidence in Court will startle you as to the

    As Mr. Paul Wickre, (AKA Palmer Wickre) and his wife Karen Williams of Steve Southerland’s (Republican Congressman) office apparently have once again decided to take on TAH, I have crafted this eloquent response 5 months late.

    NOTE: Do not contact Wickre or Karen Williams by phone, email, mental telepathy, strippergram or any other way. I’m only posting this as information, since Wickre is apparently once again all out for us. Ergo it is purely defensive. I do believe that Representative Southerland should know who he has working for him, but that is a political matter, to be settled by the voters of Florida. And frankly I really don’t care. What I do care about is that clearly Wickre is ramping up to his old tune of threatening people and stirring up trouble. Jonn and I have retained counsel and are pursuing possible action. We’ll have more on that later as well. But read the Wickre v. APL lawsuit and hear how we are the “Blogsters that wouldn’t yield.”

  • Ryan Pitts and his Medal of Honor

    Three years ago I went on an outback excursion into the mountains of Montana with the Heroes and Horses program.  At the time Demophilus blogged about it, which you can READ HERE.  Demophilus and I served together in the Army in Afghanistan, and we were paired up with a Forward Observer and an Infantryman from the 173rd Airborne.  The four of us shared a cabin, and later a tent when we headed up into the woods.  Over the ensuing week we got to know each other fairly well, telling stories, drinking adult beverages and just hanging out.  It was simply an amazing week.

    At the time the forward observer and the infantryman were just Ryan and Mongo, two guys that were awesome to hang out with, and have a ton of laughs.  Not sure if my body ended up hurting more from a week on a horse or a week of laughing nonstop.  Tonight (or maybe tomorrow) Ryan will be on the David Letterman show, a far cry from where we were in the mountains with no cell service, much less TV.

    On Monday I was honored to be one of Ryan’s guests as he received our nation’s highest honor for military service, the Medal of Honor.  Mongo was there as well, proudly wearing a lapel pin which showed his Silver Star.  The picture above is the four of us (from L to R, Mike “Mongo” Denton, Ryan Pitts, me, and Demophilius) as we once again enjoyed beverages and stories at a local American Legion post after the White House ceremony.

    Demophilius had a great comment to me as he drove me back to Marymount University to go back to my life as a counselor at Boys Nation.

    “It’s a little like hanging out with Peter Parker years before you found out he was Spiderman” he said.  It’s about as close to understanding our feelings as you can get.  The Ryan I knew, and know, is a guy who smiles constantly.  The Ryan in the video receiving his just reward was a stone faced paratrooper who brought a lot of Taliban to their just reward.

    When you hear what Ryan did that day, you get an image of him.  That image is both less and more than he is in “real life” which is what I know him from.  He’s a husband, a new father, a Red Sox fan, and a caring and giving guy.  I interviewed four people from the unit, and three of them specifically, and seperately said that “he would give anyone the shirt off his back.”  They talked about how he led by example, how unsurprised they were by his actions that day, and how he was the perfect spokesperson for the American Soldier.  He’s incredibly bright, incredibly articulate, and astonishgly humble.  You can tell from his press conference from his home state of New Hampshire…

    I cherish the week I spent with Ryan, somewhat for the opportunity to see Montana on horseback, but mostly becuse I got to hang out with Ryan and Mongo, two real life heroes.  And I cherished the opportunity to be on hand in the East Room when his actions that day in Afghanistan were recognized in such a hallowed occasion as the awarding of the Medal of Honor.

    But I will always remember Ryan for something he did before I even met him.  There was a young boy named Evan Pertile who had cancer.  But what defined Evan was his love of all things Military.  When Evan started having trouble finding the strength to eat, soldiers started sending encouragement and telling him he needed to eat if he wanted to grow up to be big and strong and join the army.  But Ryan actually went from New Hampshire down to Tennessee to meet Evan.  He even brought him gifts, like a maroon Paratroopers beret.

    He made that little boys day, and Evan would go on to recover fully.  Evan got a chance to come up to DC this week with his Mom, and see his hero (and mine) Ryan right before he received his medal.

    I’m excited to write a story for the American Legion Magazine about Ryan, his friendship with Evan, and the horrors of war experienced that day in Afghanistan that would later be known as the Battle of Wanat.  But I really want people to see the side of Ryan that I saw, and which his platoon mates are eager to point out: not just the stone-blooded warrior that everyone will see from the video of his award ceremony, but also the guy who would give you the shirt off his back, or the beret off his shelf.

    He’s an incredible warrior, no doubt about it, but he’s also one hell of a nice guy.
