  • Daily Dose of Delusion. (Updated)

So once again the the people over at Our Journey to Smiles are doubling down on the delusions. The main one is that somehow that all the woes in Afghanistan are because out outside forces and interference. Their latest video states as much.

Why do we spend money like this? Why don’t we use an alternative way? The international community says that drones are used to kill the Taliban. This is not true. We should see the truth. Today, it’s hard to find the truth and no one listens to the people. They kill human beings. Drones bring nothing but bombs. They burn the lives of the people. People can’t move around freely. In the nights, people are afraid. Drones don’t improve people’s lives, they limit the people’s lives. The people are not happy with drones. When they hear the sound of drones, they feel sad.
Drones don’t protect the people of Afghanistan. Instead, drones kill the people of Afghanistan. You hear in the news and reports that every day, families, children and women are killed. Do you call this safety?

So you see because of international intervention it led to the deaths of twelve people at a local party and a local teacher from a Girls school.

But on a serious note I thought that the majority of the drone strikes were in Pakistan and not in Afghanistan. And since my frienemy is no longer working with Rethink Afghanistan so I am not sure if they are still working with Journey to Smiles.

UPDATE: This comment from the video is a good example of what happens when history is forgotten.

Sporkmater you’re missing the point here: drones are killing innocent people, whose relatives will not think of the US better for it. No wonder the Taliban has regained so much support.

On a seperate note, I’m willing to bet that the Taliban would not allow so called agricultural ‘aid’ that is going to poison the whole ecosystem and economy with Roundup pesticides and GMO-slavery. So? yea, maybe they will be better off with the Taliban in charge. Who is to say?

  • Standing Watch.

With the shooting that has happen many people are on edge. One father is doing something to try help bring back peace of mind.

Thanks to Stolen Valor for finding the link.

  • Movie Shooting stopped by off duty cop.

Well it seems that the copycats are out again. This time it is my hometown of San Antonio. The shooter managed to wound at least two people before he was shot by a off duty cop.

Two people were wounded late Sunday when gunfire erupted at a local movie theater, sending panicked moviegoers rushing to exits and ducking for cover, police and witnesses said.

A lone suspect was in custody after being wounded by an unidentified law enforcement officer, a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

Also it seems that the theater was not the original target and was not random.

According to reports, the gunman’s original target was a China Garden Restaurant where he was employed.

Officials say the man was looking for a female co-worker, and when he learned she wasn’t there, he produced a gun. The weapon jammed when he tried to fire it in the restaurant, and some of the patrons fled across the parking lot and into the nearby theater.

Also there is something else that makes this worse.

The shooting occurred last night at about 9:25 p.m. at the Santikos Mayan 14 movie theater during a showing of “The Hobbit.”

  • Fort Richardson Soldier arrested for wife’s murder.

Well it looks like this is not going to be a episode on Married to the Army Alaska.

An Army specialist arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly killing his wife threatened to shoot state social workers who took his daughter into custody due to a report of child abuse, according to charging documents.

From what I have read it does not look good. Seems like he just returned from the deployment from Afghanistan that was ended this winter. Here is the official report on the case so far.

  • Pearl Harbor speech.

This was suppose to be the speech that I was going to give at the Unit Ball tomorrow. My original plan was to have it videoed so everyone of you can hear how awful I sound in person. But long story short, is that I will have a speaking role and my speech was voted of the island for a altered version. But I wanted to offer something now since there is a very good chance that I will not have time to post tomorrow. Also that this is the only way that my speech will see the light of day outside a few people in my unit. Oh and I take full credit for any and all grammatical mistakes found.

AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR. (STOP) THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

That was the message that was received on this the seventy first anniversary of the day of infamy. On this day the Naval base of Pearl Harbor and other military facilities on the territory of Hawaii were attacked by an aviation strike force of Imperial Navy of Japan. In less than six hours the Island of Hawaii was hit by a coordinated attack of over three hundred Dive bombers, Torpedo bombers and escorting fighters. The attack crippled or sank the majority of the warships moored at Pearl Harbor. The USS Arizona and the USS Oklahoma sustained the heaviest losses of the twenty four hundred that perished in the attack. Many of you may have seen these images. The photo of the explosion of the main powder magazine of the USS Arizona. The image of the USS Oklahoma capsized among the flaming wreckage that used to be battleship row. The attack gave us bitter suffering and loss. It also gave us heroes to light this dark hour. Heroes such as such as Doris Miller, John William Finn and many others whose actions saved many more lives that day. Perhaps the bravest of that day were the group of three survivors who were trapped in a water tight compartment of the USS West Virginia during the attack. The Sailors survived by living off of emergency rations, flash lights, and any freshwater that could be found in the compartment. After sixteen days trapped in the sealed compartment, the three Sailors died from suffocation due to the depletion of the remaining oxygen. Their bodies were recovered by salvage crews months later. The room was littered with spent batteries and ration cans. There was also a calendar with red Xs marking of the days with the last one being December 23rd 1941. Their names were Clifford Olds age twenty, Ronald Endicott age eighteen, and Louis “Buddy” Costin age twenty one. On that infamous day, importantly not all was lost. The vital fuel and dry docks remained largely undamaged. These facilities allowed the Pacific fleet to restore damaged warships to fighting condition. Second, even more important, was that the Japanese Navy failed to destroy the Pacific Carrier Fleet. US carriers USS Enterprise and USS Yorktown would would later play lead roles at the battle of Midway the naval battle that decisively and irreversibly changed the tide of war in the Pacific in favor of the United States and Allies. Now as the 71st anniversary of Pearl Harbor comes to a close, will everyone please rise and offer a moment of silence in remembrance of the fallen and the survivors who are no longer with us today.

The brief description about the fate these three that were trapped in the West Virgina can be found here. It is a short but hard at times to read about the aftermath of the attacks. But also it has a rare view of America before the winds of war blew in.

Jack Miller and his shipmate, Clifford Olds joined fellow sailor Frank Kosa for a night at the “Monkey Bar”. It was December 6, 1941 in Pearl City, Oahu, and Miller and Olds were on liberty from the USS West Virginia. A barmaid snapped their picture and offered it for sale. “What a scam” they thought-keep it. Within 10 hours, this photo was to be the last reminder of peace and the terrifying beginning of Clifford Olds demise.

Jack Miller volunteered aboard the USS Lexington and was at sea for two weeks following the attack, looking for the Japanese fleet. When he returned to Hawaii, he made a bee-line for the “Monkey Bar” and located the girl who had snapped their photo “light years” before. She found the negative and gave it to him for free out of respect. This photograph shows from left to right: Jack Miller, Frank Kosa and Clifford Olds-Camel cigarette dangling from his care-free fingers. Shipmates, and our Country are represented in this amazing picture of the last hours of peace.

Anyways I should have some photo of me and my better half dressed up from the ball later for a healthy dose of ego inflated narcissism. Oh and just to make it interesting to day, lets play a game of “lets see how many people know why we remember what happened on this date in 1941 without hints or google”. Let me know how it goes.

  • Married to the Army: Alaska is now airing.

Well last year I talked about how there was going to be a reality TV show about the Army wives of Alaska. Well it looks like it is now airing. Here is a list of the seven wives that are taking part.

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will give viewers unprecedented access into the complex challenges, personal sacrifices and extraordinary lives of military families through the eyes of seven Army Wives living in Alaska whose husbands deployed to Afghanistan in the new docu-series “Married to the Army: Alaska” premiering Sunday, November 18 from 10-11 p.m. ET/PT before moving to its regular timeslot on Mondays from 10-11 p.m. ET/PT beginning on November 19.

All I can think of from the preview is that his is a very sanitized image of military life. It is almost like they are trying to recreate the Army Wives format. This is a bad idea then and it is a bad idea now. Because there is a LOT of drama that happens in family life and some of it would make the Army look bad. What you ask. Well as a sample I can use the time that our street section was blocked off because a unidentified resident had a meth lab in the basement of their on post housing. Or how about when one your wife’s friends comes over with their marriage drama and brings in my then immediate Squad Leader’s NCO and NCOIC of our section to deal with the issues in question. Or how about hearing all the fights that the neighbors have with each other through paper thin walls. Or even better how a married couple tried avoid the deployment by having the wife pretend to leave the Husband with a child in Alaska. When he was taken off the roster she came back a few days later with the story that the had made up between each other. Because this is the stuff that Big Army wants to bring out in the open? No? So I have to wonder what happens when the camera crews run into these situations? Do they look the other way for something more trivial like the wife who is grossed out by having to clean up moose nuggets in the yard?

Again who thought this was a good idea again? Really?

Update: For some reason people are buying into this as a real view into Army Life as a wife.

Here is a somewhat better review of the show.

  • Train accident kills four at Veterans Day Parade in Midland Texas.

This is from a facebook a repost from our friends at Stolen Valor. According to Fox News a train struck a float that was crossing. At least four people are believed dead and seventeen injured.

A freight train slammed into a parade float carrying wounded veterans on Thursday, killing four people and injuring 17 others as the float a West Texas railroad crossing on its way to an honorary banquet, authorities said.

The eastbound train was sounding its horn before it hit the float around 4:40 p.m. in Midland, Union Pacific spokesman Tom Lange said. A preliminary investigation indicates the crossing gate and lights were working at the time, Lange said, though he didn’t know if the train crew saw the float approaching.

The float that was hit was carrying veterans and their spouses. This is bad all around for everyone. We should know more after the investigation is complete. In the mean time Union Pacific is vowing to help the survivors and community through this tragedy.

  • If you would have served our country better you would not be a disabled veteran (Updated)

It seems that a Disabled Veteran is suing a bill collector for the statements he received about a undisclosed outstanding debt. According to Michael Collier was told the following statement when he refused to allow is military benefits to be used towards the debts.

Mr Collier is according the the link disabled with a neck and spine injury at rated with a 100% disability rating. Earlier this year a court had ruled his benefits could not be garnished in May 2012, the funds have not been given back.

Collier says he called Gurstel’s office, and an unidentified paralegal told him he would have to sue to get the money. When he said the money was exempt veteran disability payments, “the assistant told Michael, ‘F— you! Pay us your money! You can’t afford an attorney. You owe us. I hope your wife divorces your a–. If you would have served our country better you would not be a disabled veteran living off social security while the rest of us honest Americans work our a– off. Too bad; you should have died.’” (Spelling as in complaint.)

Mr Collier is planning on legal action.

The Colliers seek actual damages, statutory damages, and punitive damages for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, conversion, privacy invasion, and malicious infliction of emotional distress.

The debt collector is right. American wars help no one and soldiers are criminals…

Typical America. Ah well i have no sympathy for any American. Wake up and rise against your pathetic Governments and corrupt politicians and criminal corperates, bankers, and zionists. Its time for a revolution.

This Faker isn’t the only US military veteran living off Social Security while the rest of us honest Americans work. As paid Mercenaries they Volunteer for the military because they’re too stupid to go to college and too lazy to get real jobs. Working for the military they learn theretofore unknown skills like basic hygiene, how to make their own beds and polish their shoes. Once discharged they get free education, affirmative-action in hiring and promotion for civilian jobs, free lifetime healthcare at the VA and a host of other benefits. Once civilians, the many that are criminals, drug addicts and drunks now have the lifetime excuse — “I was traumatized in the service”. We need to bring back the draft and eliminate all exemptions so that the military better reflects the regular society and is not comprised so disproportionate of society’s dregs.

Update Sporkmaster: It seem that JM has found some more information on the law firm in question.
