  • Julian Assclown: Secrets for Me, Not For You

Last week, Julian Assclown sat down for an interview with a CNN Europe reporter regarding Wikileaks’ new document releases. When the reporter started asking relatively softball questions about turmoil within Wikileaks and about Asslcown’s personal life, Julian walked off the set like a little bitch:

So Julian Assange is all about secrets…. just for Wikileaks and his personal life. The couple questions the reporter even give Assange a chance to blame the whole thing on a conspiracy by the Pentagon. Larry King interviewed him a couple of days later:

First of all, Larry King needs to get off the air, seriously he has completely lost it. He honestly believed Assclown walked off the set when he was watching a clip of his previous CNN interview. Yet again, Assclown can’t take the heat and whine likes a little girl.

So here is a proposal (and I am too lazy to act on it but whatever)… Wikileaks for Wikileaks. Wikileaks for Wikileaks (WfW) sole purpose will be to leak internal emails, memos, phone calls, and text messages from Wikileaks staff-both work-related and personal.

I wonder how Assclown would feel about that?

  • Privatize the VA?

    From the CATO Institute:

If you listen to Democratic campaign ads in Colorado, Nevada, or Delaware, among other places, you will discover yet another perfidious plot by evil Republicans — they want to “privatize the VA.”

Which makes one respond, “This is a horrible thing because … why?”

I know that even the mention of privatizing certain functions of the VA causes heads to explode at VoteVets and IAVA, which means the idea must have some merit. Personally, I am open to the idea. Jonn, myself, and others frequently post horror stories about the VA healthcare system in addition to using VA benefits ourselves. Despite a 11 percent increase in demand as a result of the GWOT and 95 percent budget increase, wait times are actually getting longer, quality of care isn’t improving, and almost every veteran I know who is attending college has to battle with the GI Bill office over something every semester. At least trying a pilot program where certain health benefits are paid for using debit cards like the ones they use for Health Savings Account is worth a shot.

For those of you who use VA benefits, what are your thoughts about this?

  • The Only Proper Way To Pay Tribute To The Navy On Its Birthday

After Jonn made an eloquent post paying tribute to our Navy, I thought it was only appropriate that I post this:

    Happy birthday squids.

  • The Difference Between American Freedom and European Freedom (Or Lack Of It)

I am not a Geert Wilders fan. His ideas to ban the Koran and to prevent the building of new Mosques in the Netherlands go against my beliefs in property rights and free speech. I also am bothered that many conservatives whom I respect are building connections with him and his movement in Europe. That is not a good idea.

However, I am greatly disturbed by the fact that Wilders is on trial in the Netherlands for “hate speech” for expressing his views on Islam. The Dutch and the rest of Europe do not view free speech in the same way Americans do. Britain bans books and keeps a list of people who are prevented from entering the country based on the perception that they encourage hatred. Germany bans political parties, censors movies and video games, and arrests people who deny the Holocaust (most central European countries have laws like this in effect). France banned the burqa and the display of other religious paraphernalia.

When progressive talk up Europe and their social democracies, just remember these prohibitions are part of them.

  • The Truth About Jan Brewer

Operator Dan: I am going to try and write more often about Arizona politics, mostly because we have been in the national news so much lately. Also, when the lamestream media discusses politics in my state, they get so many things wrong it makes you wonder if they could even find Arizona on the map.

These days, there isn’t a week that goes by that there isn’t a major news story about my home state of Arizona. From SB 1070 to a new federal lawsuit against the state (the newest being this absurdity), Arizona has emerged as the primary battleground over almost every hot button issue this election year.  As a result, our governor Jan Brewer (R) has become a national figure and a hero for many conservatives around the country, primarily because she signed SB 1070 into law. Its also appears that despite a terrible debate performance that Governor Brewer will utterly crush he Democratic opponent Terry Goddard by upwards of 15-2o points.

However, Jan Brewer is neither a solid conservative nor someone Republicans should hold up as one of the future leaders of the party. This is something that too many Republicans on the national level have ignored when lauding her for her support of SB1070.

    More below the fold.

  • If We Can’t Use Dogs, Can We Use PETA Members to Sniff Out IEDs?

I was reading this article about the dog handlers from my old unit (2nd Battalion, 1st Marines) and what they are doing to get ready to go to Afghanistan. One of the Marines interviewed at the end of the video in the article was in my squad for the last half of our Iraq deployment (and is an all-around good Marine). Good breakdown of what dogs do for our grunts in Afghanistan.

However, I saw this little gem at the end of the article:

The program, which first began in 2007, is being opposed by animal rights group PETA, 10News learned.

In a statement sent to 10News, the organization said: “No animal should be used in situations considered too dangerous for a human being, as those situations, obviously, too dangerous for the animal as well.”

First of all, anyone who has deployed with these dogs can tell you they are treated extremely well and their handlers don’t knowingly put them into situations that would result in their deaths or serious injury. They are trained to sniff out IEDs before they are set off and because of their lightweight and smaller size they are less likely to set off land-mines or pressure plates. Bottom line is these dogs save lives and are not simply being sent into battle to blow themselves up so a human doesn’t have to. But if PETA had their way, this life-saving tool would be removed from the battlefield. So I purpose this solution: If PETA doesn’t want us to use dogs to sniff out IEDs, then they should do a one-for-one swap of dogs for PETA members so the Marine Corps/Army/Navy/Air Force can train (or attempt to train) them to sniff out bombs and IEDs.

Its a win-win for everybody involved in my opinion.

  • More Info On James Jay Lee

So in the comments section for my last post about the Discovery Channel hostage-taker James Jay Lee Debra mentioned that Ward Reilly had posted  a picture of Lee from an anti-war rally a few years ago. I went on Reilly’s facebook page and found this:

    Classy.

Here is the FB post (if you can see it) where Reilly discusses his encounter with Lee. Of course Reilly, with his super-hippie powers, was able to deduce that he was a nutbag back then. Yeah right, I bet Reilly gave him a hi-five for that poster.

Of course Ward’s shitbag friends had to chime in…

  • When A Wackjob Is Just A Wackjob

So this guy who took hostages today at the Discovery Channel building in Silver Spring, MD is truly in his own class of craziness. I am glad the cops were able to take him out without any of the hostages being hurt. All-in-all it was a good day for the good guys.

But lets be clear: politics/ideology didn’t have anything to do with this. Of course, the bums over at HuffPo started speculating immediately about whether he was Tea Party supporter or not. I shouldn’t just single out HuffPo either. I do not doubt that some conservative blogs have had posters who were happy when it came out that the guy was a fan of Al Gore’s movie, An Inconvenient Truth.

Sometimes crazy people do crazy things for no other reason than they are fucking crazy. Simple as that. Be thankful no one got hurt and for the marksmanship skills of Silver Spring PD.
