  • Violence in Iraq Down by 70% (Seventy Percent)

According to the Iraqi Interior Ministry, and they ought to know, since the surge was completed in June, violence in Iraq is down a staggering SEVENTY PERCENT!

In Baghdad, considered the epicenter of the violence because of its mix of Shi’ites and Sunni Arabs, car bombs had decreased by 67 percent and roadside bombs by 40 percent, he said. There had also been a 28 percent decline in the number of bodies found dumped in the capital’s streets.

In Anbar, a former insurgent hotbed where Sunni Arab tribes have joined U.S. forces against al Qaeda, there has been an 82 percent drop in violent deaths.

“These figures show a gradual improvement in controlling the security situation,” Khalaf said.

  • Gore’s Tennessee is Greener than Bush’s Texas… NOPE Think Again

Forbes has an article entitled America’s Greenest States. Al Gore’s home state of Tennessee would HAVE to be more environmentally friendly than George (The W stands for Wicked) W Bush’s Texas wouldn’t it? Not so much…
While not in the top ten, or even twenty, Texas at number 34 beats the hell out of Tennessee at 43…
Some of this article is straight common sense, i.e. Rhode Island and Vermont have tiny carbon footprints…

  • But, Arnold, that isn’t how we win…

The Financial Times has a pair of articles on Arnold Schwarzenegger urging Republicans to move to the center. Welcome to Arnie’s big tent
Just one problem with that, Republicans win from the right, not the center. Democrats have to move to the center to lessen the impact of their kooky ideals.
A few choice bits from the articles:

The California governor was one of his party’s few successes in last year’s mid-term elections, winning a second term in spite of Republicans losing control of the US Senate and Congress.

Which would be great, if he weren’t a RINO.

He said he would welcome a presidential bid from Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York, who is considering standing as an independent candidate in next year’s election.

Mr Bloomberg was a “miracle worker” who transcended party lines in running New York, a Democrat party stronghold, Mr Schwarzenegger said.

Miracle worker? No, the word you are looking for is OPPORTUNIST. Bloomberg was only a RINO, and only that, until he judged it inconvenient to have that big “R” behind his name

He [Schwarzenegger]was re-elected last November in a landslide, despite crushing defeats for Republicans in the US Senate and Congress.

Name recognition bought him the win, not any reasoned thought.
Go back to the gym and back to the movies, Arnold, we liked you there, and you were good at that.

  • It Would Have Been More Apropos To Use A Bat…

A glass monument to dead commie Che Guevara has been shot and shattered in Venezuela.
Apparently, someone didn’t think honoring a man who beat people to death with bats was in good taste, no matter how well T shirts with his picture sell.
    Brietbart has the story here:

They should have used a bat on it…

  • The “Working Poor” Enrich the Clinton Campaign

The LA Times has a very interesting story about how Chinatown dishwashers and busboys, occupations not known for huge paychecks have given Senator Clinton’s presidential campaign over $380,000.

Dishwashers, waiters and others whose jobs and dilapidated home addresses seem to make them unpromising targets for political fundraisers are pouring $1,000 and $2,000 contributions into Clinton’s campaign treasury. In April, a single fundraiser in an area long known for its gritty urban poverty yielded a whopping $380,000.

Is it that the poor love Hillary so much they are willing to give when they can barely afford rent? Or is something more sinister, and less legal going on?

I have to say, I am surprised by this article. The Times article speaks of donors that cannot be found, donors who, when called for at their reported places of work, have never been heard of, and donors who, at their supposed homes are unknown.

    Culture of Corruption anyone?

  • North Carolina Hangs Nifong Out to Dry

After a prosecution rife with horrendous errors of judgment and prosecutorial misconduct the state of North Carolina has decided to let Mike Nifong stand or fall on his own. Having attempted to railroad 3 innocent young men, in a manner that should chill anyone, I can only hope he gets what he deserves.

Is the state’s motivation in hanging him out to dry simply justice and a strict reading of regulations as this Breitbart article states or is it a jaded effort to distance the state and hope the attorneys for the falsely accused men don’t set their sights on the really deep pockets? I don’t know, and I honestly don’t care. As District Attorney Nifong’s job was to ensure actual criminals were prosecuted and convicted for their crimes, in this case he failed to do that and instead attempted to make his bones on the backs of three men who committed no crime.

Randi Rhodes wasn’t attacked by rabid republican meanies after all:
The NY Daily News has the story
Air America host Randi Rhodes wasn’t mugged

There’s no truth to the rumors that Air America host Randi Rhodes (above) was mugged near 39th St. and Park Ave. Sunday night. She is scheduled to return to the air on Thursday.

There’s no truth to the rumors that Air America host Randi Rhodes (above) was mugged near 39th St. and Park Ave. Sunday night. She is scheduled to return to the air on Thursday.

Air America radio host Randi Rhodes is temporarily off the air, but claims she was brutally attacked near her Manhattan apartment are bogus, her lawyer and a police source said today.

Fellow host Jon Elliott claimed on the liberal radio network that Rhodes had been mugged while walking her dog, Simon, on Sunday night. Elliot, who said Rhodes lost several teeth in the attack, waxed about a possible conspiracy.

“Is this an attempt by the right-wing, hate machine to silence one of our own?” he asked on the air, according to Talking Radio, a blog. “Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?”

A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan’s 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.

Rhodes’ lawyer told the Daily News she was injured in a fall while walking her dog. He said she’s not sure what happened, and only knows that she fell down and is in a lot of pain. The lawyer said Rhodes expects to be back on the air Thursday. He stressed there is no indication she was targeted or that she was the victim of a “hate crime.”

I guess it wasn’t her turn to “Speak truth to power…”
Its sad she isn’t an illegal alien, then she’d be: Faking the muggings Americans won’t…
