    Also over the past eight years has anyone been more vilified than Karl Rove? Remember all of the lefties were screaming for the disbandment of the Office of Political Affairs. This was the backroom of Nazis in the white House who were trampling on the constitution and whatever. John McCain apparently listens to Daily Kos more than Obama because he vowed to shut it down.

    I’m beginning to think that the moonbats on the left are being thrown under the bus. They are already crying about the avalanche of broken promises from the messiah.

    What a bunch of frigging idiots.

  • Hillary Plans to Accept Secretary of State Position

    According to the Guardian, Hillary will accept the role of senior diplomat for Obama.

    Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned.

    Obama’s advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton’s foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.

    If true, this would be very interesting on several levels. Getting her approved by a Democrat Senate would obviously be no problem. The press, after vilifying her in the primaries, will prop up her non-existent experience (sorry folks, being a wife is not evidence of experience of what the husband did) and proclaim her uniquely qualified. She will sail through.

    But why would she? What is her plan?

    It is true that several former Secretaries of State were also Presidents including Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Quincy Adams, and Van Buren. But that string stopped in 1849 when James Buchanan left the post as a totally unremarkable Secretary and eventually became the only President in history that was worse than Jimmy Carter.

    Does Hillary think she can reverse 160 years of history or does she have a different agenda? And spare me people, Hillary does have an agenda and Obama is residual at best in that.

    If her plan is to make her and Bill enormously wealthy, this position is perfect for that but it is not a good position if she plans another Whitehouse run.

    Only time will tell.

  • John McCain for SecDef?

    No Quarter USA seems to think so.

    A source in Chicago informed me earlier today that John McCain will be meeting with Obama and his handlers tomorrow in Chicago in order to discuss the possibility of a Secretary of Defense appointment. That McCain will be in Chicago tomorrow is corroborated by an article London Times published one hour ago. The Times, however, claims McCain will most probably not be appointed to a Cabinet position. But he will be consulted on topics on which he and Obama have “common ground.” This certainly does not preclude the possibility of an appointment of McCain to Secretary of Defense.

    Our source maintains that McCain will visit Chicago tomorrow in order to discuss the Secretary of Defense appointment.

    McCain would probably not be a terrible SecDef but I seriously doubt that a Pentagon posting is in this. McCain and Obama couldn’t be further apart on almost every defense issue and the “Maverick” would do nothing but cause division and problems for Obama.

    Now a posting at Veterans Affairs? That is certainly a possibility.

    Of course any cabinet position would cost Obama his greatest ally in the Senate when it comes to his planned amnesty for 20 million criminals.

    And if McCain were to leave the Senate, who would provide the ass for Lindsey Graham to firmly plant his nose?

    These words of Ronald Reagan have inspired me for many years and while I agree that the freedom we enjoy must be guarded carefully and defended with all of our might (between Jonn, TSO and I we have over 50 years doing just that) there still exists a theory that all democracies are cyclic and doomed from the onset.

    Not sure where the 200 years come from. The Romans and Greeks and Egyptians and Aztecs and Persians (you get the point) all had much longer runs as “civilizations”. Perhaps the issue is the length of time that these civilizations were democracies or republics? That makes more sense as each of these civilizations’ owed most of its history to monarchs or dictatorships.

    Further Tyler offered a predictable cycle of the downfall of these civilizations:

    1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
    2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
    3. from courage to liberty;
    4. from liberty to abundance;
    5. from abundance to complacency;
    6. from complacency to apathy;

    I do not disagree with the cycle but I don’t think it’s necessarily inevitable or irreversible.

    By the height of the FDR administration, America was leaning closer to Socialism than anytime in its history. FDR did effectively inject government into almost every walk of American life but died before he could realize true Socialism.

    Truman and Eisenhower saw the dangerous link between statism and their mortal enemy Communism and as a result a great deal of FDR’s socialist programs fell by the side.

    In spite of the recent re-emergence of the joys of Camelot, the truth is that Kennedy was a totally ineffective chief executive and the only thing that secured his beloved place in history was a magic bullet in Dallas. In fact, had that bullet not found the young president, the next great leap toward Socialism may never have happened…the Johnson Administration.

    A couple of weak Republicans and an embarrassment of a Democrat were rescued by Reagan.

    The cycle is still valid however.

    As a capitalist society and given the recent government intervention in markets and the likelihood of far more intervention under a leftist president and congress, where do you see us in the cycle?

    I think we are solidly in stage 7 at this point.

  • Grow Up Folks, Obama is NOT Selling Out Israel

    The blogs are abuzz today with the revelation that the Obama administration is seriously considering pressuring Israel to accept the Middle East peace plan that the Saudis first floated six years ago.

    Barack Obama is to pursue an ambitious peace plan in the Middle East involving the recognition of Israel by the Arab world in exchange for its withdrawal to pre-1967 borders, according to sources close to America’s president-elect.

    Obama intends to throw his support behind a 2002 Saudi peace initiative endorsed by the Arab League and backed by Tzipi Livni, the Israeli foreign minister and leader of the ruling Kadima party. The proposal gives Israel an effective veto on the return of Arab refugees expelled in 1948 while requiring it to restore the Golan Heights to Syria and allow the Palestinians to establish a state capital in east Jerusalem.

    On a visit to the Middle East last July, the president-elect said privately it would be “crazy” for Israel to refuse a deal that could “give them peace with the Muslim world”, according to a senior Obama adviser.

    Is this going to happen?

    Hard to imagine Israel accepting it but if they do, it is not Obama who should shoulder the blame. The left has been trying to throw Israel under the bus for decades and Obama is nothing if not a hard leftist but it will not be his fault if this very lopsided deal that only serves to weaken Israel occurs.

    Here is where I piss off a whole bunch of folks.

    Any damage done to the security or sovereignty of the state of Israel can be placed directly in the laps of AMERICAN JEWS. History could easily record that the greatest single threat ever faced by Israel was the AMERICAN JEW.

    Jews in America have become almost as much a monolithic voting block as African Americans and it is overwhelmingly not in the interest of Israel.

    According to the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs:

    Only Ronald Reagan among Republican presidential candidates was able to break this pattern when he received nearly 38 percent of the Jewish vote in 1980. Traditionally, Republican candidates for the White House receive around 18 percent of the national Jewish vote.

    According to data collected over the past several years, an overwhelming majority of Jews – 73 percent – describe themselves as moderate or liberal.

    So to my Jewish friends I remind you that elections have consequences.

    Obama and the far left has never been a friend of Israel yet your community has consistently supported leaders that would do harm to your homeland.

    Why would I raise my sword to defend those who create their own peril?

  • Madam Secretary – Hillary Clinton?

    The buzz is that Obama has struck a deal with Hillary Clinton. Insiders say that he has offered her the post of Secretary of State and she is apparently strongly considering it.

    One source close to Hillary Clinton tells CNN that as of early yesterday, Senator Clinton had not been contacted by the transition team about a possible cabinet appointment. This same source tells CNN that Senator Clinton would not necessarily dismiss such an offer.

    There are two good things if this appointment in fact happens:

    1. It is not that damn fool John Kerry
    2. Sec State is not in line for the Presidency

    Hillary is not the worst choice Obama could make. She is very well known around the world and has a popular ex-President on speed dial. She is also very attuned to legacy and will not agree to lose a war on her watch.

  • Did Obama Register for Selective Service as Required by Law?

    Probably not.

    I wrote back in July asking if he would release his SS Registration card. Given his apparent serious attraction to radicalism in his college days, it seemed a relevant question to ask.

    Needless to say I received no answer.

    A few weeks later Bob Owens (AKA Confederate Yankee) claimed to have debunked the rumor and boastfully put the issue to rest.

    It is a rumor that the Obama campaign has chosen to ignore despite numerous requests, and it is a rumor that even Snopes couldn’t seem to confirm or deny definitively.

    After contacting the Selective Service System for an answer several times since late June, Pajamas Media obtained official confirmation from the Selective Service System via email that Barack Obama did indeed register for the Selective Service as required by law, and is eligible to run for the presidency.

    Mr. Owens,

    Barack Hussein Obama registered at a post office in Hawaii. The effective registration date was September 4, 1980.

    His registration number is 61-1125539-1.

    It is difficult to determine why no one had confirmed Obama’s Selective Service registration until now. The mainstream media may have had no interest in pursuing the story for a multitude of valid reasons. New media sources aligned with the Obama campaign may have had no interest in conducting an investigation that may serve to impede their selected candidate, and new media opponents may have simply found confirmation of his registration too difficult to obtain — some have suggested that they had contacted the Selective Service, only to be told they would have to file a request under the Freedom of Information Act, which rather notoriously may take months to complete. Perhaps others found it more useful to keep the rumor alive than put it to rest. But the conclusive answer is now known.

    Sorry Bob but this debunks absolutely nothing and actually raises a fairly simple question.

    Apparently Bob wasn’t curious enough to ask the obvious question.

    How could Obama register in Hawaii on Sept 4, 1980 when he was at Occidental College in California? Classes started that year on August 24th.

    I read CY regularly and generally appreciate Bob’s take but this was a lazy effort at best. To accept the word of a bottom level Public Affairs Specialist with no supporting documentation is at best naive but to call this an “investigation” is amateurish and declaring it “conclusive” is delusional.

    The actual Selective Service registration document does in fact require a FOIA filing and Debbie Schlussel thinks she has it.

    She has a fairly good breakdown of the discrepancies and there are many, many of them.

    We don’t know who created this obviously fraudulent document but it seems pretty clear that Obama did not register for Selective Service.

  • Rehearsal Dinner Went Fine

    Sorry for not posting the past couple of days. I am not in mourning.

    My daughter is getting married tomorrow and I have been blitzed with last minute details that needed the attention of a professional. Ever been to a wedding rehearsal conducted by a bunch of civilians? That is not a damn rehearsal! That is feel good grab assing.

    After a quick review of the stated purpose, method and end-state and an actual review of the scheme of manuever, uniform and equipment common to all and of course the actions on the objective, it finally started to come together.

    The wedding is tomorrow and then we’re off to North Carolina on a secret mission.

    Should be back in the fight with full force by Wednesday.
