Our partners at Military Phonies sent us their work on this Anthony Gradi fellow who claims to be a Marine;
The Marines responded “Who?”
The National Personnel Records Center, which would hold Gradi’s records based on the time frame he would have served on active duty, could find no records indicating that Gradi served in the Armed Forces. It is possible that he could have served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, but active duty would have shown up if he went to boot camp and certainly any specialized MOS training.
Oddly, the NPRC seemed to point to service in the Merchant Marines, so a request was made to the Department of Homeland Security for Merchant Marine service.

Shucks, I went through predeployment training at both Camp Pendleton and Swamp Lagoon plus 2531 school at Montford Point, but I don’t believe that makes me a Marine.

In the 80’s they had us do this for a short while. I’ve got an old cover someplace with my Sgt chevrons on it.
SgtM, Yes, I do recall this. For a short while my unit (Lima 3/8) did it, but then we were told the only markings allowed on the cover was a red tab on the outer band of the cover for engineers I believe. I was in from 1981 to 1985. This would have been around 1983 I believe.

It is not hard to imagine how someone would want to impersonate a veteran, Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine. I know folks like this suffer from EXTREME self-esteem issues and want to be part of something bigger than themselves. Unfortunately, for the phony Marine Anthony Gardi, the only way he can live up to the values and ethics of a warrior is to post on his Facebook an apology for why he feels he must portray a bad-ass. I truly deal with folks like this every day. As a retired Colonel with five combat tours, I have heard people tell me they have the MOH and more and are just simply full of shit. Come on folks, please tell the truth.
