Bob Is Retiring

Bob has finally retired. In retirement, he plans to spend a good deal of his time watching birds, learning new skills such as pointing at squirrels and stray cats in the yard, lounging on the nearest couch, and not getting up until he cotton-pickin’ feels like it.  His retirement rations may be less energy efficient than when he was working, but what the heck – a fella’s gotta have something besides “good boy!” now and then, right?

According to the article, Bob had a stellar career, tracking down bombs and other explosive stuff. Now, his biggest concerns will be guarding the yard from squirrels and stray cats.

Congrats, Bob. Enjoy it for as long as possible, and stay out of the meat drawer in the fridge.

    1. OH, yeah! Dogs can also sniff out cancer cells, and alert a doctor when the person has other medical issues.

  1. I thought that Bob was the cat in the sink you were commenting about until I scrolled down and saw that it was a dog. bob Spelled backwards is bob. I think that Bob is mentioned in the song the name game.

  2. Military working dogs are an amazing testament to the teamwork of the man-canine relationship.
    They are all truly amazing.
My best friend here in Austin was a Vietnam Dog Handler.
He was awarded a Bronze Star and he testifies that his dogs, 2 tours, should have all been awarded The MOH.
    And I believe him.
    They are just amazing.

  3. This would bring a tear to my Uncle Greg’s eyes. He was very fond of his war dog, a German Shepherd named Rex, and wasn’t allowed to bring him home.

    1. Other Whitey,
Did your uncle serve at Camp Carter in Da Nang? My best friend Bub served there and his dogs was named Prince. He didn’t get to keep his dog either although I don’t think Prince would have been an ideal family dog. He didn’t seem all that warm and friendly to me when I visited on my way to R&R.

  4. So, does Bob now get a Harley, do-rag and his very own poser as a service animal?

  5. BZ Bob. Enjoy your well deserved retirement. Here’s to lots of belly rubs and real bacon treats.
