Ex Sends

She’s still under the weather, but improving. Just to show she hasn’t forgotten us, she sends some favorite youtube tunes. Enjoy!

From “Down Periscope”, the Navy’s “Anchors Aweigh”

  1. Petula Clark is one of my favorites. Great songs by her include “Downtown” and “Don’t Sleep in the Subway”.

And keep gettin’ better, Sailor. Miss ya…

  2. Get well and hurry back. Shall we meet at the River and watch the World go by? I have cookies.

  3. Ex-PH2 I do hope you recover soon and completely. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  4. I remember Downtown playing over the ships radio while in Norfolk NOB. Got a lift from 2 Ensigns on a Friday sitting in the back seat of a small sports car with the top down listening to Downtown. I was let off at the NY Port Authority bus terminal to catch the Subway train into Queens and then the Q 5 home.

    1. Thanks! “Downtown” wasa the most cheerful song ever. The jukebox made it possible to like something without judgement of the source.

  5. Ex…get better quick.

And at least you picked a GOOD submarine movie to use.

Two within the last 40 years are good. Everything else sucks.

  6. Instead of “Crazy”, try “I’m back in baby’s arms”. Real Patsy Cline. My parents used to play it when I was a kid. Still brings back really fond memories.

  7. In the meantime, YouTube has plenty of old Westerns on it, here’s one of my favorites:

  8. Patsy Cline “Crazy” is one of my favorite songs…largely because my parents listened to it a lot when I was a kid…brings back some childhood memories all of them good…

Been listening to a lot of nostalgia music lately…probably because when I get home from work there’s little else to do with everything shut down…

Always liked this one from Emerson, Lake and Palmer:

Makes me think of old friends who are no longer here, and a time when I too was invincible…

The line, “there might have been things I missed” rings all too true as I get older.

All the things we miss as young men and women that have far more importance than we realize at the time.

I was always that guy working towards the next thing and often failed to truly enjoy the thing that was happening at the moment.

A lesson I’ve now learned late in life…and hope to avoid “there might have been things I missed” moving forward.

EX-PH2, glad you are recovering hope you return to full strength and health ASAP.

And I hope everyone here remains safe, healthy and virus free…

I hope we all can always find our way home….
