Gillette’s new campaign focuses on “Damage Control by Exploiting Veterans” or something like that.

The recent Gillette debacle that showcased toxic masculinity must not have gone too well.

Gillette is celebrating military service members, veterans and their families in its newest ad campaign ”Every Hero Sweats, Some Never Show It.”

Ya, that’s very touching.  I am moved or at least I think I feel a movement of some kind.  I am always trying to be helpful, let me help Gillette and show them an example of what a good Veteran themed shaving commercial looks like.

No even a hint of any kind of mangina in that commercial.

Oh, and just for the record Gillette…Military Spousal Units are much tougher than you obviously think.  If you try to portray a Dependapotomous’ man like some kind of wimp you might get stomped by a herd of them.

I am glad that Gillette seems to understand they have driven off a lot of people with that last toxic add, this one just screams exploitation on their part.

This sums up my advice to Gillette:

  1. From Masslive.com:

“More than 13,500 people have signed an online petition asking razor company Gillette to cut ties with the New England Patriots in light of the prostitution charges facing team owner Robert Kraft.”

Kraft, like Gillette, just screams exploitation.

  2. Uhm. Not sure just what Gillet was trying to elicit, but if it was a desire to buy Gillet products they failed. Of course, Barbasol didn’t either. Did their “star” really toss a grenade toward his own troops?

  3. Got tired of paying $20 a month for Gillette blades ten years ago. Bought a Merkur double edged safety razor, Parker shaving brush, some COL Konk’s shaving soap and Persona blades. A two year supply of blades costs about $19 bucks.

    1. I’m with you Colonel. I’ve got about half a dozen vintage Gillette razors, enough DE blades to get me to the next century and a bunch of soaps and creams. Col. Conk Bay Rum is the bomb!

      1. I use my collection of vintage cut-throats and a custom made moose-hide strop. You can’t do it any cheaper than that.

        1. I learned how to make those expensive blades last 2, sometimes 3 months. After use, rinse, pat dry and insert into enough oil (olive, mazola, etc.) until the next use. I’ve been told that razors don’t get dull so much as they rust. Under a microscope, the pitting is obvious. So, the oil keeps them from rusting. I buy maybe 6 blades a year. I’ve been doing this for decades. I switch off occasionally and use an electric, but there is nothing like the closeness of a shave with a blade.

          1. My favorite Double Edge blades are $17.25 for 100. I use ‘em for a week and bin ‘em. They don’t have time to rust..

        1. Those of you using double edged blades, any suggestion on sources? I’ve just been buying at walmart.. the razor I use is an old brass one, it was originally my Great Grandfathers, circa 1900 or so.. Shaves like a dream

          1. Best sources are the two websites for the Merz Apothecary in Chicago. Main site is smallflower.com and qbrothers.com for just the mens stuff (same shaving products on both sites). Smallflower has more customer reviews. Caution about the well-regarded PolSilver blased. Gillete is part owner of the factory that makes those. For Personna, you can also order direct from the company.

          2. Fyrfighter:
If you want to find the blade that’s good for your razor and face give tryablade.com a shot. You can order singles and then go on Amazon. What brand razor do you have? I’ve got a Gillette OLD Open Comb from 1911

            1. Bandito, thanks for the info! BCD, no idea on the brand, it’s well worn brass, may have been plated at some point, not sure, but it’s over 100 yrs old, and has seen some use, so any markings that might have been on it are long gone. I do have another one only slightly newer, I think that is a Gillette, though it’s pre-WWII

  4. I’m going to buy my razor blades from Barbasol from now on (now that I know they make them because I never went looking for them). And I only use their shaving cream because of Jurassic Park. Being around since 1919 also helps.

    1. ^word^ Used a 3 head rotating Remington for decades. Had to change the heads a few years back. Still does a fine job and never had to concern myself with it being used on legs or pits.

  5. Bought a can of Barbasol last week. $1.19
I only shave when I have to go outside the wire and deal with the general public.

A few quirks aside, that video is priceless in it’s timing. Must have been fun to shoot and I would love to see the out takes and bloopers.

    1. I dunno, but to me his uniform looked like something that Wal Mart would carry!

  6. I use the same razor until the blade starts to rust…no one is making much money from my cheap ass shaving habits…

Don’t use any “products” just soap and shave in the shower…been doing it since Fort Benning and it still works okay for me…

    1. Yep, and with beard softened by hot water you get a great shave. And at least in my pimple-faced young case (then) a clean rinse and clear complexion.

  7. Screw Gillette, they’re not ever getting any more patronage from me. That commercial was so fake it’s not even funny!

    1. Harry’s is a bitch libertard company just like Gillette. I wouldn’t.

  8. Needed to get shave cream last week. The Gillette section was full. Nary a single Barbasol can in it’s section. Heh.

Such a touching video for armpit juice. My take away: “Mr. Hero, you stink! Use our product. Everything will be all right if you use our armpit juice. It’s magical!”

All the scumbags, thugs and losers we see on the FGS should rise up and protest that they are being discriminated against by this commercial. Their rallying cry, ” Hey, we stink too”.

  9. Went to YouTube to see how bad they’re getting roasted in the comments, but of course commenting is disabled. Shocker!

  10. This reminds me of when Pelosi and several other high profile morons thought the best way to support women on deployment was sending ‘care packages’ of makeup. I wish I was kidding. We were forced to set them out for people who wanted them, and of course not a single one of us took them. After a few weeks we finally got to chuck them.

      1. Never will I ever take Nancy Pelosi’s corpse paint. $5 some local kid got their mitts on them and ate the lipstick.
