Funerals for Pfc Nicholas J. Gojmerac and Sgt. Vernon L. Hamilton (World War II)

Last December, DPAA announced that it had accounted for Pfc Nicholas J. Gojmerac, USMC. Pfc Gojmerac was lost in the Solomon Islands in July 1943.

Pfc Gojmerac will be buried later this week – on Friday, 12 April 2019 – in Leavenworth, Kansas. Regrettably, DPAA does not seem to have posted the location for his funeral or interment.

If any TAH readers have the precise location for either Pfc Gojmerac’s funeral or interment, please post it in comments below. And if any readers are in that area and have the time, here’s an opportunity to give someone lost during World War II a proper final send-off.

Sgt. Hamilton will also be buried later this week – on Saturday, 13 April 2019 – in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. Regrettably, DPAA does not seem to have posted the specific location for his funeral or interment.

  1. Here’s to hoping the local news media has or will have articles about these Warriors and the upcoming services. Maybe they’ll have a turnout like there was in Texas awhile back. Standing room only.

Welcome Home, again, and Rest in Peace Men.

Maybe one of our TAH Ninjas/researchers will post the info and we can leave a tribute on the funeral home wall.

    1. Sgt. Hamilton’s services will be held on 13-April at:
      First Presbyterian Church
      609 Chess St
      Monongahela, Pennsylvania 15063

      Visitation is at 10-11
      Service at 11
      Internment at 1230.

      Rest easy, gentlemen. Welcome home.
