“Concrete” Bob Miller passes

We just got the sad news that our buddy “Concrete” Bob Miller has passed. He succumbed to that rotten bitch cancer after a nearly year-long battle.

We’ve known him for more than a decade when Code Pink decided they’d protest against the Iraq War at the Walter Reed main gate where the wounded troops would arrive from their flight back. Bob organized a counter-protest across the street from Code Pink.

When Code Pink’s protest permit expired, Bob was at the DC office and got permission for the counter-protest to occupy both sides of the main gate. The Code Pink protest got moved down the block away from the sight of the wounded troops as they arrived on the Friday night bus. Here’s a picture of him standing on that liberated corner;

Bob was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam Era and his favorite pastime was being with the young troops. He barbecued for them every chance he got, he organized Richmond, Virginia’s welcome home parade for the Iraq troops after the war, and he loved his counter-protests. He facilitated most of the Protest Warriors events in DC.

Bob leaves behind his wife, his son and two daughters. From the announcement of his passing;

We plan to celebrate his momentous life on December 16th at Hunton Baptist Church starting at 10:30am.

  1. Ah damn. Bob wasn’t just good people, he was a GREAT citizen and a man with a heart for his family, his country, his God and his fellow veterans.

    I first met him through the Protest Warrior site and started my own group up hereto Maine, to counter-protest the leftists who show up at every Bath iron Works function.

    This is just heartbreaking news.

    May the Angels of His Mercy bring solace to all his family and friends.

  2. All of the above comments:

    Ditto, Ditto, Ditto.

    Our condolences to Mr. Miller’s family. May they find comfort that he was a hero and a mentor, not only to the troops, but to others.

    Rest in Peace, Sir.

  3. Hammering the code pinkos at their own game.

    BZ and safe travels, ‘Concrete’ Bob Miller.

  4. Oh, MAN!!!

    Totally GOOD DUDE!! I met him when The Gathering of Eagles met up in DC again in September, 2007, IIRC, to support GEN Petraeus, who was there to report to Congress (Hart Senate Building – Code Pink and like minded fellow travelers bragged they would disrupt).

    You fought the good fight, Brother. It was an Honor to know you. See you in a while.

    1. The top photo, a BlackFive classic, with “Don’t be a DouChe” over an image of that dirt-bag Che Guevara on the back.

      I love that T-shirt …

  5. I’m going to miss this good friend and American patriot. Standing on my patio right now where we shared one of our last moments together. Appropriate that it’s raining. It sure is in my eyes. But he suffered much so God was merciful to take him. See you on the other side Bob.

  6. I was devastated when I got a call yesterday morning telling me that Bob has lost his battle with cancer. There’s really not more I can add to all of the comments I’ve been reading about Bob. He was certainly one of a kind – the kind we could use many more of.

    Many memories (all good ones) from the gates of Walter Reed to the streets of DC.

  7. Unbelievable news & very sad to see, Bob was my welding inspector at Main Street Station when I was running work for Mid Atlantic Steel Erectors and I considered him a friend , RIP concrete BoB you def was a great one

  8. Rest In Peace good sir. I pray that a cure is found for cancer soon. It’s taken far to many good people form this earth far to soon.

  9. Concrete Bob. Friendly, kind and with a twinkle in his eye…Back in the days of B5 and support of injured troops and such, I could not get somewhere and Bob offered to drive to meet me halfway to make a transfer of baby goods for a shower. It was a proud day when he usurped those pinko stinkos from the corner…I spent three Fridays on the Freep corner, and I attended the GOE events and anything else that was about our troops and Bob was there.
    I wish you peace my friend, and we’ll see you on the other side. Peace and Love to the Miller family.
