ISIS “nipped in the bud” in Philippines

The Filipino government reports that they have ended an urban battle in the city of Marwai after months of combat against ISIS militants in that city, according to Reuters. At least 40 bodies of militants and their wives were found in a mosque in the city center after the gunfire died down.

The authorities said 920 militants, 165 troops and police and at least 45 civilians were killed in the conflict, which displaced more than 300,000 people.

The center of the picturesque lakeside town is now in ruins due to heavy shelling and aerial bombing.

Military spokesman, Major General Restituto Padilla, confirmed there was still gunfire, but there were “no more terrorists.”

The Filipinos credited the help they received from the United States, Australia, Singapore and China for their technical assistance and weapons.

  1. Glad to know something positive is returning to the US/Filipino relationship. Maybe we can the base reopened at Olongapo City?

    1. It is, but primarily as a commercial port. Navy ships periodically make visits there, but I’d guess that Magsaysay is but a shadow of its former glory/debauchery.

That and Marines killing tranny b-girls doesn’t exactly help relations.

  2. Inevitable this will happen in the mozzie no-go zones surrounding Paris and other cities in France, Belgium, and Holland, where the mozzies allegedly have been secretly stockpiling military ordnance smuggled in from the Balkans. Will this happen in the USA, and when?

  3. good to hear something like this on a dreary Monday morning. and given the way US-Filipino relations have been for the last decade or so, it’s even better. good riddance to bad rubbish.

    1. Absolutely, they are a savage breed that always takes kindness as a sign of weakness.

  4. Olangapo City is a free enterprise zone which is a real success story for the P.I.The skills of families of the workers over many generations as well as a deep water port was a blessing. Clark AFB tanked during the Pinatubo volcano eruption. Regarding success stories….

  5. One interesting this about the Marwai battle was that the government sent in Moslem clerics who informed the terrorists that the killing of other Moslems was unIslamic and they should surrender
Of course that did not work
The terorists had expected the local moslem population to rise up in support
It seems that even moslems do not want to live under Isis rule!
