Cmdr. Steven Everhart, sub commander sunk part II

In June, we wrote about Navy Commander Steven Everhart when he was fired from his sub driver job. Bobo sends a link from the Navy Times which reports that the Navy is disciplining him for adultery and conduct unbecoming an officer;

An investigation verified that Cmdr. Steven Everhart violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice, according to Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet spokesman Cmdr. Corey Barker.

“Appropriate disciplinary and administrative actions are in progress,” Barker said in an email.

Everhart is currently assigned to the staff of Submarine Group Nine.

He had been assigned as commander of the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Pennsylvania in February.

  1. CO of a boomer, probably on the fast track to flag rank, all gone over a little strange.

Granted, a lot of folks got away with this shit 30-40 years ago, and I could tell you stories of a particular CO in Pearl back in the 80’s who was notorious for it.

But this ain’t 30-40 years ago. There’s a lot more officers than there are commands, and the number of ways of stepping on your crank and getting your command taken away are legion.

Hope he found it worth it.

    1. LOL! Oh the stories I could tell of some of the O branchers in the P.I. all with wives and kiddies waiting back home. No cell phone cameras and the “bros before hoes” attitude.
Or in the PNW when we went to Nanaimo for Mk48 ops and the CO comes roaring down the pier on a Harley with a honey clinging to his back.
But, that was then, things are different now.

  2. I will never understand these guys. They get to the pinnacle of tactical command in the Navy, then activate the exploding ejection bolts on their command pins.

I hope it was worth it, because that fling he had will not just cost him his career, but half (or more) of his retirement income that his soon to be ex-wife will be getting.

  3. The Group CO was banging the OPSO’s wife when I was at MCAS Beaufort. Must’ve made the Monday morning staff huddle a tad awkward…

  4. Took the wrong dive.

Another example of failure to heed the admonishment to keep one’s pecker in one’s pants.

Now he has embarrassed and humiliated his wife and family – and will never live that down.

    1. Yes instead of being the commander of a boomer; he let his boner become his commander

      1. It’s not only sad, its pathetic! Throw away an amazing career, your wife, family…for what? Read your Bible boyz, ain’t going get this way!!

  5. Try this again:

Instead of being the commander of his boomer; he let his boner be his commander.

  6. He sank his career because he didn’t watch where he dove his flesh torpedo.

  7. Since he was a sub commander, instead of sinking his career, wouldn’t it be that he “surfaced”?

  8. As Curtis Sliwa (guardian Angels) used to say when he had his radio show. Why can’t these peeps keep their Rockets in their pockets.

  9. That’s what happens when you let “The Little Man In The Helmet” do your thinking.

  10. So sad, he let his heat seeking moisture missile be his commander! If you feel that you must get some strange, then go get a hooker like everybody else. My dear father always told me never shit where you eat! He told me it doesn’t matter where you get your appetite as long as you eat at home! Very wise words!

  11. God gave man a brain and a penis, but only enough blood to operate one of them at a time.

    1. Disagree. This was self-inflicted. No one forced him to fool around while married; he could have divorced his current wife first.

This is likely only the first screwing he’s gonna get for the screwing he got.

  12. You have to think that being a married boomer skipper with a girlfriend presented a security risk his command couldn’t ignore.

  13. I realize that these men are only human, but I still expect a Commander to have the kind of integrity (and common sense) that his subordinates can admire…or at least, begrudgingly acknowledge.

  14. DIVE, DIVE, (klaxon goes off twice) the boat you dumbass, the damn boat not your career… Dumb ass…

When he submerged he put the plug in the wrong hole…

    Too bad so sad…
That’s the way it goes, first your money, then your clothes !!!

  15. A lot of bubblehead COs gone down for raising periscopes in restricted waters….nuke nerds gone wild…Kissinger was right “power is an aphrodisiac” (if he really said it)

  16. He just couldn’t guide his heat-seeking meat missile, he let it guide him into torpedoing his own career!
