  1. Cook County Jail – that explains it. If it came from Rahmbo’s Office of the Good Idea Fairy, that accounts for it.
But I had a nervous moment when I saw it, and then read the article. I thought they were ordering from Gino’s or something, but no. It’s all inhouse stuff. They have someone making the pizzas for them, and they have to pay for it.

Fine by me. Maybe they’ll learn new skills, like how to do something useful with their lives.

    1. It pays to read the fine print.
Keeps from peggin’ my Outrage Meter too early in the morning.

    2. They order all the pizza’s from the pedophile pizza house in DC? However, ALL pizza’s must be delivered in time for the “guest” favorite TV show and or his conjugal visit!

      1. No, it’s a program in the Cook County, IL, jail for inmates to learn some marketable skills. Has nothing to do with Washington, DC.

  2. So basically room service while in jail. Good grief everybody is taking crazy pills.

      1. No, if anyone orders Merlot, I am leaving. I am NOT drinking any fucking Merlot!

  3. I like the idea of the job training. That kind of a rehabilitation program will go a long way into keeping the recidivism rate down. But, I’m seeing this as being potentially abused.

    1. If training had worked, their schooling before prison would have prevented prison…no..the only prevention is severe, often, lashes with a cat-o-nine tails! and the occasional castration…imo

  4. It’s medium security, most of these guys will be back in society. Teaching them to re-integrate successfully will result in less crime, and I suspect many minimum/medium security inmates are drug offenders.

Better to teach them what they need to be successful because it’s cheaper in the long run than prison, and it means less people victimized by predators.

    1. Hey, now I get it! Teaching them to order pizza without robbing the pizza delivery guy!

  5. Flagwaver, VOV – I have no issue with the job training aspect, and I have no issue with pizza-making being the venue. What I object to is the in-cell delivery.

If Chicago wanted to offer Pizza Hut/Domino’s/Papa John’s space and utilities to run a training program, then deliver the pizzas to EXTERNAL locations using non-convict drivers, I’d be OK with that. But I’m firmly in the camp that believes that allowing pizza delivery to a jail inmate and delivered to his/her freaking jail cell is absurd and asinine. Period.

    1. The opposite side of that coin, Hondo, is that if they’re making the pizza, they’re too busy to cause trouble.
