Adam Hayat; PTSD pipe bombs

Former Marine of Pakistani descent, Adam Hayat, was arrested in Los Angeles when pipe bombs were discovered in the room in a Denver hotel that he had recently vacated after running up a $10,000 bill there according to Fox News;

[Police in Denver] also discovered a note written on the mirror in lipstick that made refences to post-traumatic stress disorder.

Hayat’s father, Sultan, told Denver7 his son was homeless and had been estranged from his family for years. Hayat added that his son had joined the Marines after high school and served in South Korea, Japan and Iraq.

Sultan Hayat also said that his son had suffered from PTSD, bipolar disorder and attention deficit disorder.

Yeah, everyone with PTSD who has made pipe bombs because of it, raise your hands. Yeah, me neither.

  3. I did make a stink bomb when I was 8 or 9. That was when I was suffering Pre-Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

      1. ex-OS2, exactly my thoughts. Always, always, always, follow the money. I also want to know what the PTSD reference was. In the current media, it is as likely to have been, “I don’t have PTSD and I’ve sworn allegiance to ISIS” as anything else.

        On another note, I’ve just had been advised about the son of a follower of Farrakhan, entry-level separation, claiming he caught the PTSD. Seems his family brutalized him for trying to do his patriotic duty, which caused his near-immediate exit after enlisting. Of course, this in-and-out almost service is now demanding “deserved” benefits.

    3. My thoughts exactly. Hotels typically start charging your credit card before your bill gets too out of hand.

      1. Usually, the charge hits your credit card company before you hit your door.
        Somewhere in his stay, probably in his 3rd week, he would have maxed out the credit limit, causing the CC company to tell the hotel, ‘nope, he doesn’t have any further credit, not paying’.

    Why don’t we offer him a free ride to Mosul? Give him some water, goat jerky, and a clean pair of shorts, and drop him off about 1500 feet from Mosul… 1500 feet in the air, that is.

  8. Aaaaand it’s all the fault of his PTSD, ain’t it? Yeah, right. Hell, I had three overseas tours and the worst I did was well, that night I was allegedly at Hannah’s house of whips and chains and I’m not sure if the Statute of Limitations has run out yet.

  9. Remember when pipe bombs were a semi-harmless prank used to terrorize innocent mailboxes out in the sticks? There are ‘pipe bombs’ that mostly just go boom, and then there are ‘pipe bombs’ designed specifically to rip people to bits, but the news really doesn’t distinguish between them these days.

    This guy’s probably super nuts, but how many of these pipe bomb stories are actually not especially newsworthy?

      1. He did it to impress his girlfriend [handler?], who was suppose to pay the hotel bill (and who may or may not be equivalent to the square root of negative one)?

        From what I’ve read and been told, ADD can make you impulsive, which is more along the lines of let’s see if we go make something and then take it to the woods and watch it blow up. I think I may drop my standard joke when I have to sign for pseudophendrine that I don’t know how to make meth, just TNT (never done it, yet).

  14. I can neither conform nor deny reports that there may have been an incident at my high school involving a plastic armor-all bottle filled with black powder and heavily wrapped with electrical tape.

    No shit, there I was, and the damn lid just blew off the dumpster all by itself!

    Well, it’s technically not a “pipe” bomb

    1. I can neither confirm nor deny reports that when my father was in ROTC about 1943 someone slipped a blank round into the rifle of a ROTC in the rank ahead of him during drill when they were supposed to be checking that their rifles were empty.

      According to the reports, which I can neither confirm nor deny, drill came to an abrupt stop. Also according to those same reports no culprit was ever identified.

  19. I served with him. Very sad to read this. He was the funniest dude in our company. I would compare his mental health to that of Robin Williams… Extremely funny guy, probably used humor to mask emotions. Definitely needs serious mental health care. I’m glad he didn’t hurt anyone or himself.
