Random Thoughts

Since Jonn has been disappearing quicker than a Hillary Clinton email these days, I find myself trying to come up with things for us to chew on.  Its not as easy as most would think, but probably not for the reasons some think.  TAH has so many people that have served or are serving in different branches of the military I never know what to post.

I try to get through my morning therapy with an (content warning)  Action Figure  (don’t click on that link) as I choke down coffee made by a Soviet.  I check Facebook to see how many people have un-friend-ed me and how many groups have banned me.  My email is usually full of people wanting us to track down some poser wannabe.  Which reminds me, this Coffee Bean SEAL guy is legit.  Honestly,  who am I to judge a Squid that wants a good cup a Joe.  He has videos and a bunch of news reports posted on the interwebnet thingy.  Yes, this SEAL even wondered into a Shark Tank.  So, pass the word…the guy is legit.  Opinions on his antics vary dramatically within the SEAL community.  Happy thoughts to all of them, a nice cup of java and an episode of Flipper should bring a smile.

Feel free to send something that you might think our community of veterans would like to talk about.  Otherwise, you are stuck with gravy recipes and the warped humor of a semi-literate Jarhead. Occasionally, I find hope for this country in young people.  Try watching this for example:

I was trying to support the guy who is President until I found this out:

That is either outrageous slander or I am through supporting this guy.

You can not imagine the things I have been told not to post.  All I have to guide my way is a Hooters Girl and a Soviet,  so feel free to chime in with content.

      1. Indeed it gives me a new found respect for Chip…that’s some funny shit right there.

        1. Look you have to give the guys at ATF the credit for all their work. I just saw this about 3 or 4 years ago and I have *never* ever stopped watching it. Seriously, I’ve probably watched it and shared with with people like 50 times. Military and gamers alike.

  1. Wow, action figure therapy….I guess that’s one way to start the day…being a happily married guy my morning “therapy” usually takes a different course…and I’m a lot more relaxed after that therapy so when I get to work I don’t choke the shit out of one of my night shift clowns for forgetting to close the garage door to the elements all fucking night long…did I mention it was all night long and we’re in New England?

But I digress….if you’re on Facebook there’s a group called Dysfunctional Vets and they’re pretty funny from time to time…mostly a lot of random shit…some of it funny some if it not so much, but it’s another group of people with opinions as varied as the nation at large…delivered with the tender phrasings that most veterans can appreciate.

Here’s hoping however you start your day you’re enjoying yourself as best you can. And if you’re day is really shitty, tell somebody, talk to somebody, don’t bottle that shit up or self medicate. Let us help you, don’t drift off into tragedy….

That’s it for my rant this morning….now to see if one of my colleagues here is up for some German food at lunch….we got a great little German place down the street and this old Kraut enjoys that from time to time…

    1. I like DV, they also make some pretty funny t-shirts. US Army WTF moments is also a funny group, and Terminal Lance.

  2. Random thoughts or gravy? I’ll take gravy any day of the week: bacon gravy on roasted potatoes sounds good.

    1. PH: You ever heard of ‘white sop’ AKA white gravy? It was the foundation of the food pyramid in NC where I lived as a child. It’s sooo simple to make: flour, milk, butter, salt and pepper. There are variations, the most common being the addition of meat such as sausage. Put that stuff over homemade biscuits or toast and we’re talking a quality meal. It’s not SOS that was common in the Navy. That was chipped beef if I remember correctly. Could also pour white sop over eggs, grits, etc.

      1. Voting with their feet? I like it. Maybe they realize they will actually be held accountable under President Trump. Whatever, as above, well, bye.

        1. “Ba-bye. Bye. Ba-bye. Watch your step. Bye. Ba-bye. Bye now. Ba-bye.”

The highest ups retired. GTFO. The others? Probably going to put labels on Heinz ketchup bottles.

    1. That is TERRIFIC news! While it’s nice to have a few folks around who are familiar with the form numbers, for the most part, they all need to be gone.

Entirely too many bureaucrats, but particularly “diplomats,” do not really have the best interests of the country at heart. Good riddance.

      HURRAY!

      1. Not exactly, IMHO. The State Department people involved were political appointees, and as a pro forma matter of the transition to a new administration had submitted letters of resignation. Trump simply decided to accept the resignations from Patrick Kennedy and his three assistants instead of asking them to stay on. No harm, no foul. This kind of thing happens all the time in government down to the level of local dog catcher.

The news media is trying once again to generate conflict, and paint a picture of Trump as a monster, but the reality is that it’s not a very big story at all.
