Patriot Day

The folks at Patriots Day want you to know that their movie has opened in New York and Boston and that it will be open nationwide on January 13th. They send us some videos to whet your whistle;

Directed by Peter Berg

Screenplay by Peter Berg, Matt Cook and Joshua Zetumer

Story by Peter Berg, Matt Cook, Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson

Produced by Scott Stuber, Mark Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons & Michelle Monaghan

Academy® & Grammy® Award-winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl) will compose the score for the film.

In the aftermath of an unspeakable attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard Deslauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston.

    1. Doubtful. Seems any movie about Baaaahhhhh-stun these days has to have Wahlberg, Damon, or Ben Affleck in it.

Which explains why I don’t go to see them.

  1. WOT Pending. Current odds (REVISED):

    CLAW: 7-5
    ex-OS2: 6-5
    Chip: 4-5
    Sparks: 9-2
    Skippy: 5-1
    Field: 8-1

Don’t blame me. I don’t set the odds. I just report what Frankie Fingers tells me.

  2. I hear CLAW is out shopping and that ex-OS2 is taking a nap. Ripe for an upset if Chip/Skippy don’t post.

    1. Nope. Claw was out shopping.

Made it to the cigarette store and Wally World in an hour and 15 minutes and made it out alive.

Bring on the WOT. I’m F5Uing as I type.

        1. But maybe I’ll just wait and see if the first First! is properly posted per the rules.

And if not properly posted, challenge it and claim a proper First! as my own.

          Upping the ante.

Lay off the eggnog. On second thought, I guess you mean you’re back. Well, Freddie has you at 7-5 and didn’t budge, despite your being out and despite your saying yo don’t want to hog WOT 1s-ties.

  3. I know why I’m the only one posting. The rest of you are afraid Jonn will post the WOT while you’re typing in another thread.

    1. GO FOR IT!!!!

I have already abdicated, as I will be making cookies and possibly chili and cornbread. It’s the right weather for it.

      1. Christmas shopping first, then baking. It was chili and cornbread weather last weekend. Now, not so much, but supposed to be rainy all weekend. Gotta go finish the shopping before the rain (and the traffic) hits.

  4. May tamerlan and dzhokhar ass-rape each other in hell for eternity…

(I know I’m jumping ahead of myself re: dzhokhar, but the sooner he is needled, the better…)

    1. How dare you speak of Saint Speedbump in such a manner!

Can ya tell I’m a Howie Carr fan?

  5. Patriot’s Day is a box office bomb. Apparently, few people outside of Tom Brady country saw it. No wonder. The event was much too near in time for a movie and, quite frankly, that ‘Boston Strong’ business couldn’t hold a candle to “Let’s roll.” The couple whose love and marriage rose from the murderous bombing recently filed for divorce. Sorry, but I think that’s funny. If, like most everyone, you missed the film in theater, not to worry. It’s coming out in DVD in two weeks or so.
