Ohio spree; anti-gun narrative too good to ignore

Yesterday we talked a bit about the Somalian refugee fellow, Abdul Razak Ali Artan, who decided to run down students at Ohio State University with his car and then stabbing some more before a good guy with a gun, police officer Alan Horujko, put a stop to his rampage. Apparently, the fact that he didn’t use a gun doesn’t figure into the reportage. This was tweeted from Shannon Watts, the founder of anti-gun group, Moms Demand Action;

Yahooo News took the opportunity to discuss Ohio’s gun laws for some reason.

Yahoo News OSU

Tim Kaine, the man who was almost Vice president;

From Iowa Hawk;

There were a number of sheepdogs on duty at OSU yesterday and many weren’t wearing blue;

Meanwhile, authorities are confused about the reasons that motivated the youngster to perpetrate a terrorist attack on an American campus, according to NBC News;

Abdul Razak Ali Artan, 18, wrote on what appears to be his Facebook page that he had reached a “boiling point,” made a reference to “lone wolf attacks” and cited radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.

“America! Stop interfering with other countries, especially Muslim Ummah [community]. We are not weak. We are not weak, remember that,” the post said.

Two hours before that, a cryptic post on the page said: “Forgive and forget. Love.”

Officials cautioned that they have not determined a motive for the ambush, which sent 11 people to the hospital Monday morning. A senior law enforcement official told NBC News that investigators are trying to determine whether Artan had personal problems or something else that might have pushed him over the edge.

Beats me. Why would a Muslim refugee want to quote Anwar al-Awlaki, like the Fort Hood murderer just before trying to kill American students in the heartland? Too hard for me to think about. But I’m sure banning guns would help.

  1. There’s a report in the UK’s Guardian today questioning his actual age. It’s known that many Somali and Syrian “refugees” are claiming younger ages so as to get into schools and also get priority for other benefits.

    The Guardian wonders how a Somali claiming to be 18 years old is going bald. I’m thinking that that’s a pretty good question to ask.

    1. nbcguy54ACTUAL

      In a USA Today piece they say both 18 and 20 years old (in the same article -great proof reading).

      He recently got his Associates Degree also.

      Me thinks someone got the age thing wrong.

    2. NormanS

      Well, I have a second cousin who was going bald in his senior year of high school; just barely eighteen years.

    3. Forest Green

      That’s where the Imam used to rub his head during “services”

    4. Common Sense CO

      My husband started to go bald at 18, much to his dismay. So not always an indicator of age.

      Since the family emigrated in 2007, it stands to reason that his age is somewhat accurate, he had to be a young child that long ago.

      1. rgr769

        The supposed “family” emigrated to Pakistan in 2007. They didn’t come to the U.S.A. until 2014. If anyone does some real journalism they would probably find he was enrolled in a Paki Salafist madrassa for their time there. But hey, he was prolly carefully vetted by the current regime.

  2. Oh, and BZ to all the veterans who acted like the sheepdogs they are and moved to protect the innocents among them.

    1. Bobo

      Especially since all were law abiding, hence unarmed, as the OSU campus is a gun free zone.

      1. Graybeard

        Dear OSU students:
        Texas campuses are not gun-free zones.

        Secure your safety. Move to Texas, get a CHL, and enroll in college here.

        1. UpNorth

          Those OSU students, at least some of them, are circulating an online petition, to make their campus a “sanctuary campus” for illegals. Because xenophobia, or some other bullshit. I doubt those particular students would be interested in Texas campuses.

          1. Graybeard

            Texas is not interested in those particular students, either.

            We have enough stupid kids as is.

      2. CA_SGT

        Its only a gun free zone for students. I’ve carried, concealed and open, there before. Non students face no repercussions for carrying a firearm onto campus.

    White cop kills black kid! Oh the horror….

    1. USMCMSgt (Ret)

      All these “anti-gun” reactions are probably because the cop had a gun and smoked the fuggin’ hadji.

      1. Skyjumper

        That’s exactly what I thought too after I read the tweets. Sounded like they were pissed because one of theirs was “murdered” by a “gun nutz, totin’ cop”. /sarc

        Phucking tweeting twits!

      2. Actually first reports indicated the belief that shots were fired by the attacker(s). Fog of war, and all that.

    I absolutely love the CNN headline “SUSPECT” dead at Ohio State.

    1. Daisy Cutter

      He “allegedly” did it.

      But, they don’t try them after they are dead so when do they drop the “allegedly”?

    Remember Hillary and Kain were hailed as the most “qualified”.

    Glad we dodged that bullet.

  8. OWB

    Media was reporting “active shooter” as the event was ongoing. Of course. The fact that the only shot fired was by the cop who stopped the rampage is totally irrelevant.

    Watching the left display their individual and collective insanity is very sad.

    1. Yef

      I have always wondered if there are passive shooters. I mean, active shooter sounds kind of weird to me. If the guy is a shooter, he is shooting something by definition, so I don’t see the need to call him active.
      And then, if there is an active shooter, are there passives shooters as well?

      Or maybe it just sounds weird to me because I barely speak english.

      1. Fyrfighter

        Yef, Not that it makes it much clearer, but the term “active shooter ” is used to describe a situation where someone is “actively” going about shooting people, as opposed to a hostage situation, or one where people have been shot, and then the shooter holes up, situations where they bring in a negotiator. It came into use after the Columbine shooting, where the police initially stood by, thinking they’d be able to talk, before realizing that direct action, not talk was required. It indicates a shift in the tactics of the responding officers. hope that helps… or maybe just makes me long winded.. sorry

  14. RGQ

    First off, I hope all the victims involved recover from their injuries, and I’m glad the cops were able to expedite Mr. Artan’s departure from a state of living to a state of fish food. I shouldn’t be surprised, but I read more than a few posts on the Facebook about how this terrorist act was thankfully “… not carried out by an assault rifle!” I mean, apparently cars and knives kill you less than “assault rifles” – whatever those are – do, or if they do in fact kill you, you’re somehow less dead than if shot by a rifle. I swear I try to understand liberal “logic”, but I just can’t ever seem to wrap my head around it.

    1. Dee

      I think that’s because you haven’t yet wrapped your head in cellophane. I think if they just loosened the cellophane they might just get enough oxygen for their brain cells to recover.

    Just a bad driver who, after he ran into some people, had a road-rage episode and stabbed a few. Happens all the time. Don’t tell me his being Muslim had anything to do with this. I’m with Tariq Nasheed on this. Did the white cop even try to issue him a citation or de-escalate the situation? No, no he did not. He saw a Black(ish) man and shot him dead. Black(ish)LivesMatter. Can you imagine if Shrillary had won, died shortly after being sworn in, that Kreeeeeeepy Kaine would have been “The Most Powerful Man In The World”???? ****
    “Dad, send me cars, knives, and Allah, get me outta this”…. Warren Zevon-esque ditty. The media is happy to incite a riot (and then cover it), because they can always issue a retraction later and the teat suckers will give them a pass and they accept that as a given. Time to CHANGE that modus operandi….I believe there is a pock marked wall the Romanians might loan us.

    1. 2/17 Air Cav

      We suffered a flaming moron for eight years as veep. Kaine would have given Joe a run for stupidest veep to date. Still, I would have to wager on Joey HairPlugs, were a gambling man.

  17. USMCMSgt (Ret)

    Earlier this morning I heard on the radio that Arli Artan drove the car into the group of students around 10AM, precisely when classes were let out.

    The news report on to say that students heard him yell something as he began starting to attack students with his knife, but the media wasn’t able to determine what it was he yelled.

    I call bullshit on that. Not for a second do I believe a single student couldn’t hear what he was screaming. We all know darn well that fuck yelled “Alahu Akbar!”. The media won’t admit that because radical muzzies are a protected class now.

    One of my best friends and an old retired 1SG (Scouts Out) was one of those student veterans who secured his classroom and kept watch on the door.

  19. One of the ways this is being spun is that since a cop took down the criminal, it shows that regular citizens don’t need guns.

    You can’t argue with that lack of logic and critical thinking as there is nothing to argue against. It is a position maintained by a person with a vacuum between their ears.

    1. rgr769

      Also, that argument ignores the fact that the subject officer was investigating a report of a gas leak at a location less that 100 yards away from where the attack went down. He was on scene within a minute after this sudden attack of lack of car control began. Again proving that when someone is bent on murdering you, waiting five to ten minutes for a cop to show up is not a viable option.

  20. Holden Magroin

    Was Abdul Razak Ali Artan on scholarship or US government aid?

      We’ll probably find out it was both.

    Did anyone bother to tell that asshole Tim Kaine that the little booger picker used a vehicle and a knife? What a stooge.
