Breaking news tonight – Chalice Renee Zeitner has been sentenced to about 28 years total for all of her transgressions according to ABC News.

An Arizona woman was sentenced Thursday to a total of 28 years in prison for faking a cancer diagnosis to get the state to pay for her late-term abortion and for convictions in two other cases.

Chalice Renee Zeitner, of Phoenix, was convicted in April of fraud, theft and forgery charges in the case involving the late-term abortion.

A separate jury found her guilty of fraud and theft five weeks ago after authorities said she defrauded a charity for military veterans and the leader of a second charity in 2012. She also was convicted in May of aggravated drunken driving.

  13. I think lying so she get a late term abortion is really what cooked her goose. Should have been a murder charge, but since she couldnt be charged with that she got her tits hammered for defrauding the govt.
    28 years would be nice but the cynical side of me says she will walk in about 5 or 10.

  14. I understand the rejoicing here in this forum for the years this woman will have to serve.

    When we have rapists, people who commit assault and even people who commit murder get out in less time, there is something that is not correct with the system.

    I am not saying that she should walk, but the people she defrauded and stole from will not get their money back. I just don’t see her sitting in a jail cell eating three square meals a day any type of justice for her victims.

    Personally, I would have been happier with a shorter sentence and restitution for the victims and the state. By “restitution,” I mean payback for everything – and more. Every dollar needs to be repaid – with interest.

    She stole a defrauded people out of their money and maybe even worse, stole money from people who were donating to a cause to help others. Those people worked for their money. Let her work to repay them all (and more.)

    I just would rather the victims be made whole (which would be justice) plus a lengthy jail sentence (which would be punishment.)

    2. The system truly is a mess, no doubt. Her victims will receive no compensation, true enough. I doubt she’ll serve her full sentence. We celebrate what justice was done.

    3. She also got a free abortion out of her scamming. Remember that punishment is also supposed to serve as a deterrent to others…

    4. She won’t serve 28 years, or even close to it. If it wasn’t for her ripping off the Govt, she might have even walked.
      Shitbags like her will never pay back what they steal. When released she will simply grift and scam again.
      The only satisfaction victims can get is knowing that while she is locked up she cant ba scamming.

    5. Restitution is a joke in most jurisdictions. Rarely does a serious criminal ever pay a significant portion of any restitution award. Restitution judgments are about as aggressively enforced as our immigration laws.

        1. The restitution issue is indeed a joke, with limited exception. The exceptions are white-collar crimes and those crimes committed by gainfully employed people. Generally, those in state prisons are without the means to pay and, in some, if not most states, victims have to jump through hoops to turn a restitution order into an enforceable civil judgment. Without that judgment, restitution ordered as part of criminal sentencing can be later reduced, become a debt forgiven, or simply unenforceable by the victim. Victim compensation programs don’t cut it and the funds are usually restricted to cleaning up a bloody crime scene and the like. The law used to be clearer in its approach to victim injuries (i.e., financial losses caused by another.) A crime was an affront to the state, the people, not an individual. For an individual to recoup losses suffered, civil court was the place to go. Then, over time, came victims’ rights and, with it, restitution as part of sentencing became standard. The line between the criminal and civil aspects of harm done is now blurred. As matters now stand, I would prefer to shift the burden from the victim to the state in whole by having the state pay the victim up front and then let the state try to recover its payout from the criminal.

  17. Hummm..DUI, LATE term abortion (baby killer), lied about cancer, ripped off money, fake DD214, won’t answer legit questions and now in a wheelchair. I believe she did everything she’s been accused of, but being in a wheelchair is probably BULLSHIT. 28 years just doesn’t seem long enough..
