Stolen Valor hunting is not for amateurs

CBS46 News

Davy sends us a link about a story in DeKalb County, Georgia, where the County Commissioner race is heating up. It caused incumbent Sharon Barnes Sutton to accuse her opponent, Steve Bradshaw, of Stolen Valor for some of his claims during the campaign.

Barnes Sutton claims Steve Bradshaw changed his story about being a commander in the Army during a local radio interview on the video.

It’s an allegation Bradshaw refutes. He provided us with documentation to show that he served in the gulf war and his first assignment was as a platoon leader in charge of four army tanks.

“I can assure you that Steve served honorably in the Army,” Gulf War Veteran Kevin Brau said.

And just one day before the District 4 runoff election, Bradshaw’s comrade on the battlefield has come to his defense to set the record straight.

I guess that the election is scheduled for today. We’ll see how that works out for Barnes Sutton.

Added 7-27-2016; Bradshaw got 75% of the votes in the primary.

  1. It’s best to leave things such as this in the hands of the professionals.

    “Are you the police?”

    “No ma’am. We’re musicians.”

      1. This happens more than you would think. There is nothing that scares me more than being around someone with an empty gun.I once saw this happen with a 106 mm. RR. It was a bit messier, though.

  2. Oh, dear. It isn’t just local elections.

Tammy Duckworth is trying to do the same thing with Mark Kirk, her opponent, when that was straightened out some years ago.

Political salaries must be the pot of gold to some of these people.

    1. If you mean political salary that comes from various pots, absolutely.

If it weren’t pots o’ gold, we wouldn’t have career politicians, people in Congress for 20, 30, 40, etc., years.

      Or was that rhetorical? lol

      1. Love the stories of the many critters who enter Congress with relatively few assets and, some years later, after public service (which many say is the equivalent of mil service) are millionaires. I am always amazed at how wise these critters got with their investment strategies, usually upon their firs re-election, when they’ve shown some staying power.

    2. It’s not the salary, its the lifetime medical and retirement for even one term!!!

      1. You know that’s not true, and yet you posted it anyway. Are you a troll posting here to try to make conservatives look bad?

  3. If she wins the runoff, she will only then issue an apology for her error. If she loses, she will remain silent, as she has the past two weeks regarding her BIG LIE. She’s desperate. He’s a Veteran, which scores points with many people, Veterans and those who never served. Falsely accusing him of SV is her way of counterbalancing those points.

  4. Sometimes it is better to be a good witness rather than trying to be a good shot!

    1. One of history’s greatest miscarriages of justice is that “Swift-boating” should be perceived as a pejorative term by most folks. We can thank our thoroughly corrupt liberal media for that.

  5. Whatever happened to ‘Stay In Your Lane’?

If someone is pretending to be a Veteran, the real Veteran’s community will find out soon enough, and expose said fake to the world. There is nothing us civilians need to do in that regard.

  6. Apparently she had a great military career herself to know the right questions she presented. Kind of like me trying to tell an astronaut how he should take a piece of Sears best 20 lb. rope along with him, just in case. Better yet, trying to tell a brain surgeon where to drill. “Yeh, that’s it, just above the middle eye”.

        1. “A Democratic member of the House Armed Services Committee compared Jewish Israeli settlers to termites on Monday while speaking at an event sponsored by an anti-Israel organization that supports boycotts of the Jewish state.” That was yesterday and it, too, was Hank.

  7. DeKalb County. That’s all you had to say. More corruption and crap come out of that county than any other in the metro area. It would be amusing if it wasn’t so damn serious.

  8. Barnes-Sutton..Could one of my esteemed TAH colleagues, please explain what’s up with all the females with two last names as of late?

    Thanks (In Advance)
    Dustoff

    1. Barnes is (nee) and Sutton is married name.

      Hence: Barnes-Sutton

However, this does not factor in other normative cultural possibilites, such as to wit as to honoring absent fathers and or paying respect to ones parents and or grand-parents and or BFF baby mommas, however I will go with the former … nee + married name, it is quite common.

    2. They seem to like using their “nee” names to show their independence from the man they’re married to -apparently shows strength. To wit: Senator Hillary Rotten-Clinton.

But when the hubby’s name helps them, the other name suddenly goes away: Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

      Playing both sides as usual…

  9. Maybe we should consult the All-Points Logistics Company Policy on this matter.

And ask The False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) his personal opinion.

One must keep an open mind…..

  10. I’m glad the results were carried two decimal places. That was a close one. A cliffhanger.
