Poetrooper sends us link from the Navy Times about Commander Vincent Wood, XO of Trident Refit Facility, Kings Bay, Georgia, who was caught in the act of pleasuring (we can only assume) the wife of a civilian.
Wood was with the married woman in the early morning hours of Aug. 23, according to a police report obtained by Navy Times. Her husband soon arrived; he referenced the protective order and taunts from both sides quickly turned physical. The fight left Wood in the hospital for at least 24 hours.
The fisticuffs left him with “a large contusion to his left eye, several knots on his head, an abrasion to the bridge of his nose, a small cut under his nose, and abrasions to both knees,” according to the report. A beer bottle also was thrown through the rear window of Wood’s car.
The XO was fired by his commander, Captain Gunter Braun, when he learned of the seaman-like conduct of his second-in-command. I’m beginning to believe that Flag Officers need more weekend safety briefings than the private soldiers. Maybe a little self-defense training, too.

Sailors!
There was a protective order in place, but I guess he thought it didn’t really apply to him.
Can I have my tax dollars back?
Nor to her… they both worked at TRF. And no, lol
Guessing his career is over? Enough blood to operate a pecker or a brain but not both at the same time.
What do you mean “seaman” like activity? A seaman is too smart to throw away a good career LOL
Good. He won’t do THAT again. Hope they toss his sorry ass. I am sick of “leaders” acting like the rules don’t apply to them.
Shocking. (Or maybe not.)
Not really. What some members of both genders will do when hormones and sex drive overcomes good judgement is well known – and includes damn near anything.
He was issued an order by his commander not to see the woman. He disobeyed that order. He was caught by the hubby and beaten severely. He is now going to be shit canned. Nice story. Love a happy ending.
The new Woody Wood Pecker. Bang wife get banged by hubby ah! the life of a sailor
People who do this cause endless trouble in the workplace, not to mention the pain to everyone else in contact with the situation. There is a reason why adultery is on the list of the Ten Commandments.
This belongs in the Feel Good thread.
Something is not tracking right.
I am in no way shape or form defending this adulterous individual, but:
The Navy Times piece describes his awards and decorations as including two N/MC Commendation Medals and seven N/MC Achievement Medals.
Yet on his official photo he has all kinds of stars posted on the Commendation Ribbon and only two stars on the Achievement Ribbon.
Did the Navy Times get it wrong or is he embellishing his actual awards? And what about that Meritorious Service Medal peeking out from behind the jacket lapel? No mention of it in the Navy Times article.
Regardless, his career is over. I hope that piece of calico was worth it. As sj said above, just not enough blood flow to operate two pieces of equipment at the same time.
May very well have to backtrack on the stars posted to his Achievement Ribbon. Upon closer examination, they could be one silver and one gold 5/16 star.
Still doesn’t account for the discrepancy on the Commendation Ribbon stars. There sure seems to be a whole lot more of them than the number of awards calls for.
Claw eyeballs regret the error.
“I’m beginning to believe that Flag Officers need more weekend safety briefings than the private soldiers.”
While I whole heartily agree with this statement, CDR Wood is an 0-5, nowhere near Flag rank.
And he pretty much shot down in flames any chance he may have had getting there.
The point being made is that the higher in rank you get, the less accountability you have to worry about. “I’m an O-5, I can do what I want! In 5 years I’ll be a flag officer and then can do even more!”
If he were an E-5 and done this, the first or second time at most, he’d have been shit-canned for multiple infractions.
Fire the CO and CMC as well. This issue didn’t come out of nowhere. They knew what was going on…..a protective order had been issued.
If an XO needs a protective order issued, they already need to be fired.
XO is an LDO – was a PO1 before getting his commission. Been around long enough to know better. Comments in the Navy Times article made claims that he’s done this for quite some time… the odds finally caught up with him and he got is ass kicked.
Dude needs to be sent home for good…
Amazing. He obviously had something on the ball to go from E-6 to O-5. Maybe when I was 19 and in the P.I. I might have found the trim that good to shoot down a career over, but geez. To bad he never heard of Match.com. 🙂
Probably did, but was instead drawn to Snatch.com
It was our new CO that issued the protective order, XO was banging some civilian DOD employee here at TRF Safety Department. Hubby kicked XO’s ass pretty damn bad, XO was in hospital in JAX FL. That’s how CO found out when sheriff called to ask if this dumbass worked at TRF Kings Bay. Yes he has been Transferred to Group 10, but they stated he will be “retired”, commit adultery and forced to retire w/ roughly 65% of your pay???
Not only commit adultry, but failure to follow a direct order. There was a MPO in place, and both of them ignored the order from the C/O…
The CMC was not involved as this was an officer issue an not enlisted. This is squarely on the officer community as was tail hook was a few years ago.
Commander Wood did not exercise sufficient command over his wood.
Dat’s a good one!
Let me try:
Commander Wood let his woody think for him. He got caught, got beaten as well as relieved, so now his Military Career and Service record are very BROKE DICK!!
Indeed. And I”m guessing that’s one instance of “morning Wood” – or in this case, “mourning Wood” – that he’ll never forget, too.
He got his ass beat by the pissed-off husband AND it cost him his job. Hell yeah, Enlisted and NCO’s get their asses handed to them on a stick for things like that, Field grade Officers deserve the same.
When I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, serving as a Cavalry Scout (MOS 11D20) in Combat Support Company, 2/12th Cavalry (Mechanized Infantry), 1st Cavalry Division, we had a First Lieutenant, who was an Airborne Ranger, IMMEDIATELY processed out of the Army, within forty-eight (48) hours, for Conduct Unbecoming an Officer.
When our unit was in the field, he would visit the wives of fellow officers to offer his affections.
I don’t know the whole story, but I reckon one of those wives turned him in.
Our company commander was a Mormon, so maybe his wife was the one who reported the incidents?
I saw that happen one other time.
When I was attending the Field Radio Relay and Carrier Equipment Operator (MOS 31L20) course at the United States Army Southeastern Signal School (USASESS) at Fort Gordon, Georgia, a Second Lieutenant propositioned a Private First Class in his barracks, and he was processed out of the Army within forty-eight (48) hours for (I think) Conduct Unbecoming an Officer.
When I was in Germany, an enlisted man was put out of the Army within forty-eight (48) hours when he was caught in a homosexual act in the barracks latrine.
When I was in OSUT training many moons ago, our Drill Sergeants talked about a female E7 DS on Ft. Sill who was busted to E1, confined and given at least a BCD for “servicing her Joes” to the tune of $50 a pop every payday. When I was “Getting Short” over in Korea, there was an Airman stationed at Kunsan who reported to his CO that his roommate was gay and had propositioned him. Said CO got all pompous and dismissed it, which blew up in his face one morning when said Airman that made the report awakened one following morning with his roomate blowing him while he did so. That was before “Blowjob Willie” infected the US Military with the DADT shit, so the fairy got E1 and some confinement time before his DD. While Ft. Benning we had a brand new female 2LT fresh from West Point and OBC who was quickly whisked away to a desk job in Brigade HQ while her platoon Sergeant quickly out-processed with early retirement. A man seriously fuxxes up nearly every time he thinks with his pecker!
While in Baghdad had a newly arrived Marine Captain (Aviator) that was that was the aide to the 2 star I worked for sent away from theater after fooling around with a female Army SFC. Woulda liked to have been a fly on the wall in the 3 star’s office when the young officer was counseled before leaving theater (with a nice new letter of reprimand from that 3 star). Nothing helps a career like being told directly by the theater commander to get out of his AO ASAP :).
I’m thinking one of his first stops stateside was at the Exchange to pick up a copy of “Resumes for Dummies.”
He’ll certainly need a resume, and regarding the “Dummies” part, well . . . .
Years past, knew a 1SG that was tapping Joe’s wives when they were in the field on training rotations.
Brought new meaning to “FRG”.
They took his diamond and retired him on the spot. 18 years in, I believe.
Keep in mind this was peacetime Army, but I wonder if the standard, per se, of discipline is still the same.
BUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! ! ! !
Just what the Navy needs…..a little less semen.
She was having early morning protected Wood and she had the Braun to cause a premature ejection.
Well that happens sometimes. He should know better than to spread the honey while it is still in the hive.
CDR Wood let his woody think for him and that bit of snatch ended up snatching his career down the sewer pipes!
The senior service has it’s own share of assmunchery…apparently no beatings in this. http://www.fayobserver.com/military/bragg-colonel-removed-from-job-over-inappropriate-remarks-lip-kissing/article_46126322-bd99-5262-a2a2-1c6286951412.html
I checked the link. No wonder he wasn’t charged. He doesn’t have any lips.
I really hope this was not an EM’s wife.
Just saying.
Nope, Civilian employee named Brandy. I knew of her years ago. This is not the first time she’s cheated on her husband. Or second. Or…
Yeah, in my world he is called a “dickhead” …not a “hothead” or “head strong” …just a “dickhead”
I would have paid 1000 Chief bucks to be the CMC fly on the wall of the CO office during the exit order!
No doubt it was not purdy!
Not done in the CO’s office, done while Dummy was in the hospital after the Hubby’s ass whipping he layed on Woody.
Further proof that a stiff dick has no conscience.
Hey Jody, how about them apples!
Maybe it’s time the military issued the fake vaginas to horny troops/sailors, or try to understand that, when under fire, as Twist once told ‘You’d be surprised what you think about when live rounds are flying over your head.’
I know, I know. It doesn’t excuse someone who thinks with his dick or her vagina. I get that. And it won’t do any good to horsewhip anyone, because some people will enjoy that part of it and won’t see it as punishment for being naughty with a troop or someone else’s spouse.
I suggest some episodes of really embarrassing EMI, such as having to do KP or laundry in public, or being made to leave money in the jar every time they misbehave, something on the order of $250 or so. If they’re ossifers, they can afford it.
If he was an NCO or junior enlisted he would get burned at the stake,he should lose his commission over that instead of losing his job position.
Not necessarily. I’ve seen both SNCOs and junior enlisted get Article 15s for adultery vice getting court-martialed.
My impression is that it’s not generally something that goes to court-martial as the sole charge. If combined with other criminal activity – as an additional charge in case the more serious charges don’t result in a guilty verdict – sometimes yes. But generally not as the sole charge.
I don’t remember if it was before or after Iraq, but I remember an E4 in my company getting busted down from SPC to PFC for adultery. But, what I’m trying to say is it seems that Officers are getting far less punishment than NCOs for the same thing. Like that bug eyes LTC who was wearing the sapper tab compared to the SGM who was wearing the pathfinder badge and other awards. I just feel like punishments getting handed out across the board (at least in the Army) are favoring Officers when they should be getting punished just the same as Enlisted if not worse.
True, to an extent. And at least part of the reason is structural.
Under the UCMJ, enlisted personnel can lose rank through either courts-martial or (for E1-E6) NJP. Enlisted personnel can also receive various forms of discharge: honorable, general (honorable and under other than honorable conditions), BCD, or DD. That means courts-martial have broad latitude to “make the punishment fit the crime” – for enlisted personnel.
However, officers cannot be reduced by a court-martial; they are either retained in grade or dismissed. The discharge types are also more restricted: honorable or dismissal (with perhaps general/OTH if the officer resigns “For the good of the service” in lieu of court-martial; not sure about the last).
Dismissal for an officer is legally equivalent to a Dishonorable Discharge – e.g., loss of many civil rights, loss of all VA bennies, etc . . . . So not only can courts-martial not reduce an officer, they can’t discharge him/her without giving them the equivalent of a DD. (A conviction will almost certainly end their career, but that will require more time and a separate admin board.)
The upshot is that courts-martial are often reluctant to discharge an officer (because they’d be forced to give the individual the equivalent of a Dishonorable Discharge). They cannot reduce the individual or give them a lesser discharge. For relatively minor offenses (and adultery qualifies as a relatively minor offense compared to, say, desertion, rape, or murder), options are fairly limited.
For the same reason, I’m guessing that many commanders are reluctant to refer officers to courts-martial for relatively minor offenses. There’s always the chance that the court-martial panel might dismiss the individual, and the commander may think that’s way too harsh. So the individual gets told to resign/retire – now – “or else”.
Bottom line: yes, sometimes court-martial panels and chains of command seem to cut officers a break. IMO at least part of that is due to the limits on sentencing options when an officer gets court-martialed.
I think that’s why Johnson the Bigamist got by with only a big honking fine – had he been dismissed, his family would have been screwed too. But the option for “reduce but retain” wasn’t there – and neither was the option for a lesser punitive discharge. (He retired as a MAJ, I think, but that was due to administrative determination regarding highest rank successfully held.)
Why is this the case? Not sure. The only thing I’ve heard that makes any sense is that the POTUS technically appoints officers, so allowing a court-martial to reduce them would somehow “infringe” on the POTUS’ authority. I think that’s bull, but that’s the way it is today – and has been for decades.
IMO Federal law (e.g., the UCMJ) should be changed to allow officers to be reduced at courts-martial, and to adjudge a bad-conduct discharge and/or permanent forfeiture of some or all of an individual’s military retired pay as part of sentence. While that wouldn’t reduce all the disparity, that would IMO be a good start. A few COLs getting busted down to CPT or MAJ for relatively minor misconduct (along with a big honking fine and maybe some time as well) would send a damn strong message IMO – and would also IMO reduce the incidence of such idiocy.
And for cases like Johnson’s (way more serious misconduct in that case than adultery), it would allow such an individual to be reduced, to retire but with zero retired pay – which would allow the retention of medical/commissary benefits for his family. I’m thinking some variant of that would have happened had it been allowable at the time.
Not holding my breath. But you never know.
I wonder how many O-6 and up
Were Ashley Madison Platinum Customers???????
How the hell would you know there’s a Platinum Customer level there?
Hahaha
He thought with his pecker, which was a career-wrecker!
oh look, another 0-5 screwing up sexually. what is it about that pay grade that causes someone to lose all inhibitions?
regardless, looks like another round of death by powerpoint for the enlisted personal.
FWIW: my theory is that for many officers, it’s the first time they’ve had truly serious authority – e.g., budget, personnel, judicial, operational – at a level that actually can affect a large number of people. Some let that newfound authority go to their head. Or if you prefer, power reveals the character flaws that were there all along, latent, but masked by lack of opportunity or held in check by superiors checking on them more closely.
Some – make that ‘all’ – All of you people are completely disgusting. All of you.
Even me?
Even the two of us, CLAW131. Haven’t you heard? All men are disgusting pigs! (smile)
SooooooooWEEEEEEE!!! 😀
While this particular example is a failure, don’t “just” blame officers. It takes two to tango.
When I got back from Korea, I was shanghaied into the XO position for HHC, USAG in Ft Lewis. They apparently wanted combat arms officers mixed into the “non tactical” units.
On
…SIlly keyboard….
Anyway, on of my least pleasurable duties was running the weight control program for the Company. Try telling some fat ass SGT Major or LTC that they had to come in and get measured and monitored, when you are a shiny 1st LT.
I had, during Desert storm, a female NCO whose husband deployed come in for weight “counseling”. She wasn’t fat, she was actually model material, just had some muscle. She came to the appointment in a half shirt and shorts, and made it very clear that I could have a lot of benefits in return for my acting on her behalf as her XO. I had one of my trusted female staff NCO’s in the office so fast it looked like teleportation, and never, ever met with a female enlisted without a female NCO chaperone in my office again.
So it’s not always the men, and certainly not always the officers. it’s just particularly disgusting when it is the officers…..
You hit the nail on the head.
No pun intended.
No, it is not always the men. Women are just as bad. And it is not always the military. It happens in the civilian work world regularly, and they don’t use Powerpoint lectures. They just fire your ass.
Damn…
Woody, you got a mud hole stomped in your ass!! Fired! Relief for cause!! That must have been the best snapper to ever squat over a toilet!! Fuck him! May his cup runneth over with bad shit!
