Army Captain Steve Voglezon saving the world

Capt. Steve Voglezon

According to Fox8, two cars collided head-on and burst into flames in Chatham County, North Carolina. Army Captain Steve Voglezon happened upon the scene and didn’t hesitate to act;

Voglezon used a fire extinguisher to break the windows of the car and rescue the couple inside the Acura.

“I picked up the other gentleman, took him to safety, while the officer was trying to free the other woman on the other side of the vehicle,” Capt. Voglezon told WNCN.

You can see the conflagration in this video and watch the young captain plunge into the flames to extricate the victims;

  1. He broke the windows with a fire extinguisher? That isn’t easy. And did I miss something or were those firemen in full protective gear watching the captain rescue people?

    1. I had the same thought my friend. A whole lot of inertia except for one Army Captain making shit happen. BZ CPT Vogelzon!!

  2. The article said “burst into flames.” Dude, that was an explosion. Courage doesn’t come close to describing that!

    1. Agreed. Auto fires scare the hell out of me – they are unpredictable as hell, and fuel tank explosions are seriously bad news.

      The amount of chemical energy in ONE gallon of gasoline is substantial – it’s equal to several sticks of dynamite, if I recall correctly. Under the right conditions it can make quite a “bang”.

      The Captain has extra-large, solid stone ones.

  3. I just saw this story on the news. You’ll be happy to know that this story made the evening news here in Sydney, Australia.

  4. One of the Army Values, Personal Courage: Face fear, danger or adversity (physical or moral). Very proud of you Sir!
