This weekend’s open thread is brought to you by Instinct’s newest addition to his family – cute little Samantha Marie [Instinct]. He wanted me to share the picture with you – he’s pretty pumped about her arrival.
It’s been an exciting week behind the scenes at TAH, I’m hoping that I can tell you about it all later, but trust me, it’s all good news. You should just act excited now. But, I’m beat, so enjoy yourself. I’ll be back in a little while after I take a nap. That’s probably what Samantha is doing right now, too.

Looks like I have some catchin’ up to do. Just returned from Cooperstown. It was my first trip there. No crowds. Beautiful weather. For 10 mins, I was the only person in the Hall! I didn’t know this until I saw for myself but every war Veteran has a special medallion on the wall immediately below his Hall of Fame plaque. It bears his branch of service and the war in which he served! I counted 68 Hall of Fame plaques with such a medallion. Actually, I counted 66 but two were missing but their impressions were on the wall. I asked about that and was told there were being cleaned. 68! Amazing. Oh, in 1941, Ted Williams’ last season before the war, he batted .406! And, separately, the funniest line I read was Berra’s after the Yanks got throttled by the Dodgers in 4 games in the ’63 series. Koufax pitched the 1st and 4th games of that series, each a complete game. “I can see how he won twenty-five games,” Berra said. “What I don’t understand is how he lost five.”

When you were at Cooperstown, did you see the World’s record baseball commemorating the Salt Lake City Trappers baseball team of the independent Pioneer League which broke the World’s record for winning the most consecutive games?
I used to go watch them play.
