Our buddy, Don Shipley is moving from YouTube to his own website at http://videos.extremesealexperience.com/. YouTube has been beating him up lately because a couple of complaints and videos get pulled and phonies go unbusted.
He’s been talking about it for a year or so. But, here, he explains it;

I don’t like YouTube’s policies either. Good move.
Getting my popcorn ready for when they post the tracking down these phonies.
But still have questions, can the videos still be share on other sites like with YouTube or do you have to be a member to view them?
$10.00 NO/GO
Well, it is a pretty expensive proposition to hunt down these phonies. Don and I have discussed many times how we can make just enough money to break even on our personal expenditures in that endeavor. That’s why I added pop-up ads, which almost filled the gap last year. To give you an idea how much this stuff costs, just having a dedicated server to handle the spurts in traffic that we get sometimes costs $6000/year. If it wasn’t for the ads, I couldn’t afford it. Still, I get complaints about the pop-ups. And then there was the dude who left this blog last year because he claimed that I was somehow making money by forcing him to click one extra time with our front page. I don’t know how he thought we make money from your clicks, but even if I was, is that a terrible thing that we would make money?
The way I see it, I wish Don the best in doing what he does. If there was a website about someone tracking down phony 11 series MOS’s I would pay 10$ a month, but if it involves money I would prefer to pay it towards something I have actually been involved in and experienced. I just can’t see paying money to track down people in a job I have no clue about because I’ve never done it or been part of it. It just Isn’t my place. But after John said he is paying 6000 a year I am going to try to pay 20$ every couple months while I visit here. I donated 20 bucks once, that was just because I thought John must spend a shitload of time requesting stuff under the FOIA because of all the people in the stolen valor section. I didn’t do the math for time + equipment + money. But I don’t read to good no how.
God damnit that was supposed to be its own post I will donate 50$ right now John for an edit button
YouTube went to hell after Google took over. I know all too well.
What the f*** is up with that fat chick singing like a man, and wearing a Navy uniform with SEAL trident ???????
God, please tell me she ain’t a phony SEAL.
That one at the end of the video is Joel (Amy) Kleyla.
She got her 15 seconds of fame here: http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=54783
The Air Force dude in the picture at that link was also identified: http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=54878
Got it. I see I even commented on the original story about her, or it.
I think I had succeeded in forgetting I’d seen such a thing.
Now I’m reminded. Thanks a lot. 😉
I love his wife.
What is YourTub?
I think this is a good idea. YouTube is too – well, hypsensitive about stuff. And I do get tired of the ads overpowering the videos.
Like most people I’m not going to pay $10/month to watch phonies even if The Hair is there busting them.
Unsubbed.
I might give it a try. Supporting people that are doing good for society is important. But…… It’s more than I pay for Netflix or a video feed that gives me 8 hours of new content per week.
Thank you Don and Diane for the new site! I hated wading through YouTube and the cost is well worth it to me for the ads free,videos and from a dedicated traffic server. Again, I like it and enjoy every video.
I have a boner for the Shipleys and they can fight over how gets it first.
/bbwwahahahahaha. I’m KIDDING Don….Oh and Diane too. Love you both. Really.
If you’re looking for a reason to join, apparently Bernath has lost all of his shit after reading this news – that he can’t bitch to YouTube any more about Don’s videos. So Bernath is coming down solidly against the whole idea.
$ 10 !!!!!!!!!
I wish them well, and I understand the reasoning, but I have other things that I can do with $120/yr.
While the videos are entertaining, I wonder if charging for the videos that use movie clips/music is an issue with copyright infringement etc.?
