Fox News reports that Saddam Hussein’s Sunni Ba’athists are coming out of the spider holes to join with the Sunni al-Qaeda-linked ISIS forces sweeping across Iraq. Apparently, they have been in the shadows awaiting for an opportunity to take their country back from the Iraqi people;
These vicious Islamic radicals fighting alongside top officials from Hussein’s dictatorship, are working to seize control of the battle-scarred nation. For now, their objectives converge.
“[We are] unified by the same goal, which is getting rid of this sectarian government, ending this corrupt army and negotiating to form a Sunni Region,” a senior Baathist leader told FoxNews.com.
I guess when the sectarian government is your own, it’s different. I’m pretty sure that the ISIS isn’t going to stop at a “Sunni Region”. A Caliphate would include more than just a few provinces and cities.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Best I can tell, in the ME that’s more than a proverb – it’s a way of life.
So basically, they’re telling us they don’t want freedom, after all. They just want to go on living like cockroaches in the slums of New York and Chicago.
Fine. Let them have their dirtbag existence. I’m almost at a point where I agree with people who say ‘nuke it from orbit’.
To the poster from days ago on a thread I can’t remember, who kept defending Saddam because he was a non religious Ba’athist. Well here you go bud. So much for the non associated Ba’athist folks staying neutral and out of the “religious” aspect of the fight. Muslims, Ba’athists, whatever you call them, they are going to come down on someone’s side. Just as long as that side is extremist, anti freedom and anti American.
If the Ba’athists think ISIS is going to share power with them when the dust clears they are sadly mistaken. It will only be a matter of time before they turn on each other similar to the divide between FAR and ISIS.
One other thing….isn’t Bashir a Ba’athist?
I say we write Iraq off and move on. They’ve been killing each other for thousands of years, I don’t think 0bama and Carry are going to stop that with a speech.
This is nothing new.
Almost immediately after the invasion the ‘Sunni Arab Rejectionists’ were the backbone of the rising insurgency. They were mostly former Ba’athist Sadaam regime officials and Army officers that had a lot to lose under a Shia regime.
This guy was a key player:

(Big Al was the King of Clubs and black list #6 for a very long time. He was supposedly the guy financing everything- he’d come across from Syria with a suitcase full of money, get everyone pumped up, and head back into hiding for another few months.)
Go back and watch the Sadaam execution tape. The background voices are Shia guards taunting him by praising Moqtada al Sadr.
In another ‘coincidence’ the judge that sentenced Sadaam to death was kidnapped and murderered by ISIS…
