AJ Dickens arrested

Chip sends us the news that one of the most nationally famous Valor thieves has finally been arrested. We last wrote about him in October. From 40/29 TV;

U.S. Marshals confronted and arrested Dickens, who had previously fled from authorities. Dickens was leaving his home to take his kids to school when he saw the marshals and surrendered.

Authorities obtained a warrant from Nevada officials in January after they received an anonymous tip that Dickens was in the area. Dickens is a convicted felon and was charged with burglary.

40/29 News was at the scene of his arrest with exclusive access. Watch tonight at 5pm for more on the story.

Dickens is being processed and booked into the Benton County Jail. He has an extradition hearing next week.

Marshals also asked his wife for consent to search the home believing he has automatic weapons on his possession. As a convicted felon, authorities said it’s illegal for him to have any firearms. She declined.

Here’s the video from Inside Edition report on him last Fall;

  1. Glad they caught him. Hope he enjoyes his time in Club Fed. I also hope they got another warrant to search the home for weapons later.

  2. Yes! He was the first video of The Hair’s that I watched. So glad it finally happened but why in the hell did it take so long! ?

  3. Not a word about his Stolen Valor or the theft by decent of that movie producer. I guess they couldn’t arrest him for being scum so they got him for what they could arrest him on. Kinda like Al Capone I guess.

  4. This poser actually risked the lives of a bunch of civilian aid workers in Africa based on his posering bullshit; total asshat…

  5. Kind of surprising if the Feds thought they had an easy auto-weapons bust that they didn’t have a warrant ready.

  6. David: getting a warrant typically requires convincing a judge that there is good reason to believe the items named in the warrant are at the location named in the warrant. Absent such good reason, most judges won’t grant one.

Unless they had someone who saw the weapons there or saw Dickens taking them into his house, IMO getting a warrant could be somewhat problematic.

  7. @ 9 David and @ 11 Hondo…

The fact that the feds and everyone on the earth have him on videotape using weapons is already enough to charge him, right? not to mention the *massive* fraud.

  8. Looks like he got caught for little crap, hopefully they will peel back the layers and charge him with all the shit he pulled.

  9. Valkyrie and PH2: It probably is in the long list of BS he has done. I mean the guy was fraudulent enough to get 300 million dollar contract set up. Probably pocketed some of that money he stole from investors too.

I am guessing he probably has about a good 30 charges on him.

  10. Happy Valentine’s Day A.J. — you do realize that the real St. Valentine was beaten, gutted and beheaded don’t you? Just sayin….

Whatever 40/29 news is — they say they will have the exclusive video of the arrest at 5 pm

  11. Mr.Game – Like I said he was the first taste of Stolen Valor I had and could not believe all the crimes this man had been accused of and yet was walking free.

  12. I’m guessing that the marshals expected to arrest him in the house, then they wouldn’t need a warrant. Raylan Givens don’t need no stinkin’ warrant, though.

  13. valkyrie: Yeah I asked that all the time, how was this guy walking free still after all the scamming and even after media did 3 reports on the guy.

  14. @11-I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but Don Shipley’s video on this O2 thief shows a bunch of clips of training videos Dick-in had of his bullshit course in Nevada he was promoting with phony SEAL credentials. In many of them, Dick-in is seen firing automatic weapons (very badly). I’m no legal expert, but that seems like probable cause to me. Not to mention that the very act of firing or touching a gun is prohibited for felons, so they could have just arrested him then and there.

  15. Wait till a blockbuster jail movie comes out… AJ DICKen will claim that said movie was “based” on his own experiences. Maybe the next time we see him in a promotional video, he’d have jail related clothing paraphernalia instead of military related symbols and clothing.

  16. Looks like he suffers from Dunlop Syndrome.

That is, his belly done lopped over belt.

Seriously, how big a chute would it take to safely land his fat ass? Seal Team 6 member? Yeah, uh huh.

  17. HS Sophomore: if the film could be authenticated and the weapons proven to be real, it would itself be evidence of a crime. However, it would IMO probably not be considered probable cause that Dickens had those same (or other weapons) at his residence. That would require some independent indicator that weapons were indeed at that residence.

The 4th Amendment and the courts’ interpretation of same sets a reasonably high standard before a person’s residence can be searched. It’s a dual-edged blade. It likely lets some guilty escape justice, but it also prevents police-state tactics from becoming the norm vice an unusual and unlawful aberration.

  18. I see A.J. getting a lot of “anal dilation therapy” while in jail… wonder how his “Navy SEAL training” will help him out while Bubba, Julio and Tiny are stalking him.

  19. Possession is 9/10ths of the law. They have that photographic and video of him live firing everything from a handgun to Barrett .50 cal. Even if those were “airsoft weapons” he was shooting and had the nanny state orange markers on the end of the barrels, the man is still going down. US Marshals don’t play those nuances games, brau. Felon in possession, he going down, its a wrap. Sort the fine shit out in federal court, then the states can have him.

  20. But, I am very tickled he went down. Way to go USMS and nobody got injured or killed during the making of the news video. *Buh-bye* AJ Dicken or is it “Dick-in”…

  21. Sometime in the not-too-distant future:

    *Cell door slamming shut*

Big Burly Convict (Thor): HOW LONG YA’ IN FOR?

    Dickens: X years!

Thor: X YEARS? Gonna be like we’re married, whaddaya wanna be, the Husband or the Wife?

    Dickens: HUSBAND!!

Thor: Awright by me, NOW GET OVER HERE AND GIVE YOUR WIFE A BLOWJOB!!

  22. Here is the Arkansas Dem-Gaz article. Talks about his living in a RV, nothing about wife or kids:

Suspect of probe caught in Garfield
    Nevada SEAL scheme alleged
    EMILY WALKENHORST
    ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

A Garfield man who has been under investigation in Nevada over accusations he embezzled investors’ money while presenting himself as a former Navy SEAL was arrested by authorities from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Benton County sheriff’s office on a firearms charge Friday.
Arthur James Dicken, 57, was arrested in Garfield on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Benton County sheriff’s office spokesman Keshia Guyll said Friday that she did not know whether Dicken had an attorney.
The Carson City sheriff’s office in Nevada began its investigation into Dicken in 2012. Detective Steven Olson said he was looking into accusations of firearms possession and embezzlement in connection to claims that Dicken took more than $850,000 from investors after telling them he was an ex-Navy SEAL starting an international security firm.
Dicken told the investors he had served in “dozens of covert combat missions from the jungles of Vietnam to the caves of Afghanistan,” according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Dicken never has served in the military, although he wore the Navy SEAL trident insignia and showed off awards that included two Medals of Honor, according to the release.
Olson said Friday that the FBI took over the embezzlement investigation and that he did not know whether federal agents were still pursuing it.
Olson first made contact with Dicken in October 2012, when he called to tell Dicken that he needed to register as a felon, which he had failed to do.
Years ago, Dicken served time in California after he was convicted of burglary, said Tony Overstreet, a U.S. Marshals Service spokesman for the Western District of Arkansas.
Olson said his next contact with Dicken was regarding a picture of Dicken holding a gun, which Dicken told him was fake. Olson said he was unable to dispute the claim, but he began the investigation into the firearms and embezzlement accusations in December 2012.
In Carson City, Dicken ran a “military-style defense school” where he provided training that included use of firearms and self-defense tactics, according to the news release.
From Carson City, Dicken moved to Garfield.
The sheriff’s office in Carson City issued a warrant for his arrest Jan. 29, Overstreet said.
Earlier this year, ABC’s 20/20 program investigated Dicken and tracked him down in Arkansas, according to an article posted Jan. 3 on its website.
The article said Dicken’s investors, who became his employees, traveled all the way to the central African nation of Burundi with him, where they said they began realizing Dicken was not who he claimed to be.
U.S. marshals and Benton County deputies arrested Dicken at 6:45 a.m. in the RV he was living in on property he was leasing in Garfield. Overstreet said he believed Dicken did not have a job.
Dicken is being held in the Benton County jail awaiting extradition to Nevada, Overstreet said.

  23. When he gets out, he should work for APL as their Chief of Security.

    Fake SEAL – check.
    Felon – check.
    SCI – expedited.
Fake LEO/ Security credentials – check.
    Liar – check.
    General all-around shitbag – check.

All he needs is to claim a tribal affiliation.

  24. The weapons were all real in the video. The Barrett belonged to one of the doctors that owned the business with Dicken (they were the $$, Dicken was the “expert” hahahhahaha). Many of us saw him shooting on the range before this all came out. He owned several guns including his wife’s pink AR15.
No fraud charges, no burglary charges, no Stolen Valor charge (really??!!!), just felon in possession. But what the hell… he’s in jail and that’s all that matters.

    1. Neglected to add that Dicken was extradited from AR to NV and he’s sitting in jail in Carson City, NV.
