Democrats leave Benghazi hearings

According to Townhall’s Katie Pavlich, all but two Democrats excused themselves from the Benghazi hearings before the testimony of the families of the fallen Americans from 9-11-2012;

During the second portion of a House Oversight and Government Reform hearing about Benghazi Thursday on Capitol Hill, the majority of Democrats on the Committee left the room and refused to listen to the testimony of Patricia Smith and Charles Woods. Ms. Smith is the mother of Sean Smith, an information management officer killed in the 9/11 Benghazi attack. Charles Woods is the father of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, who was also killed.

The remaining Democrats were Ranking Member Elijah Cummings and Rep. Jackie Speier.

Issa made this guarantee to family members:

“The promise I make is that as long as I have this gavel, I will continue to work on this”

  1. Saw this earlier… Just kinda shook my head.

    This open sore on the soul of America just doesn’t seem to matter in DC, to some at least.

    I’m kinda running out of outrage about the crap going on there, but THIS will not be a lost cause so long as I’m breathing.

    Too personal you say? There’s a wall in DC with the names of some who were in the same boat at one time.

  2. I’m sure they had some very important business to attend to, probably having to do with the trials and tribulations of transsexual Asian senior citizens and the government programs that should be established to help them.

  3. Doesn’t surprise me at all. The gutless wonders don’t want to be around to receive the butcher’s bill.

  4. Zero-thanks. I tried to find the link from an article I saw (I think over at Ace of Spades) about how one of the Dems poster children in the immigration debate is an America and Israel hating, Kuwaiti-born, Palestinian (in her own words), but couldn’t find it. Otherwise I would have used her as my example.

  5. I am a moderate Democrat.

    But with “Obummer” and his BS narcissistic, do nothing, reactive blame others administration, I am inching closer and closer to the other side everyday.

    I hate that, but it is the truth.

  6. I hope when these jackoffs are up for reelection, some family members show up at there campaign stops.

  8. @5–sadly, turnover in Congress is less than 5 percent every cycle.

    Think about that. If you get in, chances are you’ll die before you get voted out.

  9. #9 Speaking of accountability how about republicans investigating sending over 4000 americans to their deaths in iraq on a lie. bush the vietnam war avoider even though he supported it! He new it was a lie as the iraq minister had changed sides and told cia that saddam had destroyed banned weapons years before! And this was before bush attacked and lied to the american people about mushroom clouds!

  10. #15: In other words, what you’re trying to say is “Look!! Squirrel!! I mean, Bush!!! Stop asking questions of the current government!!!”

  11. @15–go suck start a shotgun. How come icasualties.org isn’t publicized by ya’ll anymore? How come nobody on the left is so hot cock to mention over 75 percent of the combat deaths in Afghanistan have occurred AFTER Obama took office?

  12. Scum sucking, low life, hacks. And that’s the nicest thing I can say about them. Every conservative candidate needs to drive Benghazi up the democrats colons this next year. Push the stupid video down their throats. Ask tough questions and make the dems own Obama’s lies. Ask if the incumbent supports Obama on Benghazi, if the answer is yes question his intelligence and fitness to serve. If the answer is no, ask why he let the lying SOB get away with lying to the voters only weeks before the election. Make them choke on this monstrous lie.

  13. A pattern of disrespect started when Sec of State Clinton lied to Mrs Smith at Dover AFB. Bite me was an ass, too, but were more moronic than insidious.

  14. Sorry ’bout that. Should have read:

    A pattern of disrespect started when Sec of State Clinton lied to Mrs Smith at Dover AFB. Bite me was an ass, too, but his comments were more moronic than insidious.

  15. NHSParky, you left out these parts:
    – the UN inspectors being barred from entering Iraq for up to three weeks, giving Saddam Hussein time to ship his stuff off to Iran and Syria;
    – that partially-built giant cannon that Gerald Bull had designed, under construction in the Iraqi desert, aimed at Israel;
    – all that yellowcake (500 tons) found and confiscated during that little old war;
    – and — oh, yeah, my favorite — Saddam Hussein invading Kuwait to seize its oil tank farms, oil fields and its shipping access in the Persian Gulf, which was the reason we went into Kuwait in the first place, and finding that his army consisted monstly of conscripts who were found dehydrated and subsisting on a half cup of rice a day.

    These things were broadcast 24 hours a day on C-Span. It’s just a shame the trolls weren’t old enough or smart enough to understand what it all meant.

    And then there were those reports of Saddam’s troops torturing Kuwaitis, not because there was any information to be had, but because they could.

    Last, but not least, Saddam Hussein’s troop dynamiting the Kuwaiti oil fields on their way out, leaving behind massive pollution in the Gulf, fires that could be seen and photographed from the space station, and the massive costs of putting out those fires and the cleanup.

    Yeah, we were in Iraq for a holiday trip, not because there was any real reason to go there. Right?

  16. MustangCryppie-thanks for that! I knew I saw it somewhere and I was sure it was there, but I couldn’t for the life of me find it.

  17. Why are any of you surprised by this behavior?

    Wait! Whose behavior? Take your pick, the troll or the politicians. They’re pretty much the same species.

  18. Well, at least there were two Democratic Politicians with some integrity. That’s two more Democratic Politicians than I would have expected.

    You know, a few years ago, I would have said any politician or bureaucrat who said, “What does it matter” regarding four dead Americans had no future. But after watching Obama get re-elected because he’s giving away other people’s money..after seeing the depressing lack of concern over Benghazi..I don’t have much faith.

    I still think Ms Pantsuit is going to be at least the nominee here in a few years. And that makes me very sad.

  19. Hey 15: Why dont you ask them how much Sarin gas they have found in Iraq?!?! Gallons and gallons and gallons of it! and nobody cares…

    Why dont you ask where Assad got all of his chemical weapons too?!?!

  20. #32 I can field that question since I’ve run into a loon out this way. They don’t think chemical weapons are dangerous, pure and simple. They hear WMD and they think nukes. Suitcase nukes, nuke nukes, whatever. Even after showing the damage a small amount of Sarin did in a metro, he still refused to accept that they were dangerous.

    Hell, in virology classes, small pox is a major concern and one that is being kept an eye on.

    #15 Oh and they did find quite a few containers of Sarin and Mustard gas and there used to be UN Photos floating around of trucks heading from known weapons labs to Syria. Funny that.

  21. I think enough good god fearing Americans care about what happened there that the truth is going to come out about this no mater what the democrats do.

  22. They don’t think chemical weapons are dangerous, pure and simple.

    Dangerous enough to get Obama to start foolishly drawing red lines he wasn’t equipped to deal with.

  23. @15: First off; your example has nothing to do with this discussion. It’s just you being a dumbass and trying to redirect the subject. I’ll clue you in on what it does have to do with; respect. The scumbags don’t have the guts to face the opposition, so they pack up their toys and go home as soon as it gets to the uncomfortable part.

    As for your bullshit about the “Bush lie”; give it a break. Everyone, including British intelligence, the Saudis, etc. all thought he still had unaccounted for WMDs, and he did. So; where’s the “lie”?

  24. DOGPILE!!! @15, you are an uninformed asshole. How the fuck can you fit a “Blame Bush” on here is beyond me, but you have sure given it the old college try…..

    @20, you are on to something. Make the Democrats own this mess come election time. It is going to be tough, since the media run from this story like it has cooties, but Democrats need to know that allowing this joke of a president to get away with allowing his ambassador to be murdered is going to have consequences.

  25. @31 – Nik, $40 billion in food aid to poor families is being cut from the budget by the Democrats.

    Now, I know that you guys can all cite instances of people selling their cards at convenience stores, etc., but I’ve never seen that in the entire time (30 yrs) I lived in Chicago proper, when food stamps were printed paper bills that came out of a booklet, nor have I seen it anywhere around where I live now, with 8 years here. The stores that take the SNAP and LINC cards don’t give out change, either.

    There are a lot of families in this area who are dependent on the food pantries and the food aid cards to just put food on the table, so this cut in the program is going to have a serious impact on them. It also means that the schools may not be able to provide the only two meals per day that some of these poorer kids are getting, and they will literally have nothing on the weekends.

    You try going one day with nothing to eat. If you’ve been in the bush for 8 days when it was supposed to be 1 day, and you run out of MREs, you know what I’m talking about. It’s no fun.

    Bodaprez is less interested in giving away other people’s money than he is in having his own way on everything. There is NO budget, there has not been a budget since he was first sworn in (2009), and it does not look like that really has any importance to him. Quit bitching about obamaphones and the rest of that crap. That was the media at its worst and you know it. Oh, yeah – while I’m at it, his approval rating has really dropped, too.

    It was LBJ who started the entire welfare program, so if you’re going to blame anyone for the disastrous misuse of taxes, start with him. And while you’re at it, the tax proposals upping taxes on the uber-wealthy also apply to those who propose them. 🙂

  26. @30 – Devtun… I stand corrected. (Sorry ’bout that Zero in cmt #17).

    To reiterate to #15: Go suck start a Mk III after you pull out the pin.

    (Long day yesterday.)

  27. @40

    And while you’re at it, the tax proposals upping taxes on the uber-wealthy also apply to those who propose them.

    Yah, it does apply to them, except the uber-wealthy can afford the legions of tax lawyers and accountants to make use of all the loopholes and exceptions that let them out of it. As an example, look at GE. As I recall, they haven’t paid taxes in years.

    Oh, I wasn’t even talking about entitlement programs. I’m talking about things like Obama letting his buddies and those who scare him out of the Obamacare deal.

    That money’s going to have to come from somewhere. Someone’s going to have to chip in to make up for the difference between the money going in and the money going out. Who is that someone? The regular folks.

    If you’ve got a “everybody pays” type program, every single person you let out of actually paying, that puts more of a burden on those who don’t have the power or influence to get out of it. In this case, who is that? The middle class.

    And you’re absolutely right. There are a lot of people who depend on the benefits of things like SNAP programs. Unfortunately, it’s the scumbags cheating the system taking money away from those who need it.

    If we actually got rid of waste, fraud and abuse…and I’ll throw exceptions in on that list, how much lower would be the tax burden on the citizenry?

  28. @Niki (31). The sad fact is, those that walked out of the hearings are representative of the people who allowed them to be elected. Its not that the Bengazi attack and its aftermath doesn’t matter to them as much as it is, that the attack doesn’t matter to the people who voted for them.

  29. @Nik (#44) Sorry, apparently my iPad thinks you look good in a dress.

    And yeah its sad. Sad and disgusting. When did the life of American’s cease to matter to Americans? At what time did we reach the point where the lives and sacrifices of our public servants simply cease to matter?

  30. Methinks #15 is vietnampisstester sock puppeting, just look at the spelling and grammar! Regardless, he/she/it looks like just another inbred that had to rant after sniffing glue and having sex with siblings!

    #15, go suck start a WP Grenade!!

  31. @PH-2, I will disagree that the welfare state was started by LBJ. The foundation of the modern US welfare state was started by an earlier “progressive” president, FDR. The New Deal had the Aid to Dependent Children Act in 1935. Prior to that, the private sector took the lead with charities.

    I will say that LBJ greatly expanded welfare entitlements with his “Great Society” program.
