Ex-PH2 to the Moving Wall

Ex-PH2 writes to tell us that she’s going to see the “Moving Wall“, well, here, I’ll let her tell you;

I’m going to the Moving Wall, which will be a few miles north of me, to get some photos this week. I may go up tomorrow for the ceremony, and will definitely go on Friday, even if it’s raining.

Some people have not had a chance to go to Washington to visit that monument. I haven’t been there yet myself.

If anyone wants photos of a relative’s or buddy’s name on the Wall, I’ll get those for them.

I will get the first name, middle and last name, branch of service and if possible, rank. I found in looking for someone that many people had the same first and last name, and some even had the same middle initial, so the more info I have, the easier it is to locate them.

I you want to put the word out, I’d appreciate it. They don’t even have to send it to me directly, just post it on TAH. I’ll take care of the rest of it.

  1. I visited the Moving Wall a few years back when it was here in my hometown. The flag that flies outside of my home was raised in honor above the Wall for all who served and sacrificed in Vietnam. Very proud to own that flag. I visited the Wall in D.C. back in the late 80s. It was very moving and I am very glad I had the opportunity to visit.

  5. I and my girlfriend have had the honor of serving as guards/escorts on the moving wall several times the last time in Fayetteville, NC. As a vet who was at Ft. Bragg for several years I was familiar with the area but was very surprised at the number of people that came out, many with their kids, to pay their respects and also to see buddies that didn’t make it home. To be able to help someone find a buddy and stand there and provide a shoulder to literally cry on so the man knows that people still care and will never forget is humbling. Humbling is nowhere near a good description, I guess.

  8. Yes, I will, NR Pax. They’re putting the Wall together today, so I will go up late today to get a sunset shot and tomorrow, early on.

    Anyone else? It’s there until 9/16, but I’ll be at the dentist on Monday, so I have today, Friday, and all weekend.
