Chris Lane was killed in Oklahoma this week by three youths, ostensibly because they were bored, according to one of the perpetrators. So while most Americans are wondering why this isn’t being made a national issue like the Trayvon Martin death, the left is scurrying to make it about their agenda instead. Alex Seitz-Wald at Salon, tries to tell us that the two deaths were different because the police didn’t arrest George Zimmerman immediately after Martin’s death. Well, they did bring him in for questioning immediately following the incident, but they obviously didn’t have a case – proven by the outcome of his trial – so why would they have arrested him just because public opinion had determined he was guilty?
So, the other day, at the daily White House press conference, one of the reporters asked if there was a statement from the President regarding Chris Lane. The spokesdingus, Josh Earnest, said that he wasn’t familiar with the case. When made familiar with the case he said that the president didn’t want to get in the way of the legal process, you know like the president didn’t want to get in the way of the legal process against George Zimmerman.
What prompted me to write this, was a few minutes of a discussion on Fox news this morning when some ditz blamed the Republican-led Congress for the Lane murder. She said that schools are cutting back their extra-curricular programs because of federal budget cuts and that’s why unsupervised youths are out thrill-killing foreign students. Yeah, I’m sure that’s it. It’s been only a few months since any cutbacks have happened, and I’m sure this problem with these kids started only recently. And, oh, by the way, school is out for the summer, so how could more school activities have prevented this senseless murder?
Of course, the ditz also mentioned gun control, but it was already illegal for those three teens to own a gun and that didn’t seem to stop them. yeah, she wanted to ban all guns, and commandeer this issue as an excuse. Gun laws don’t work. Period.
But, see the Left doesn’t want to admit that they’ve created the mess that inspired this particular murder. One of the perpetrators in the Lane murder has Tweeted that he has beaten 5 white people since Zimmerman was determined to be innocent by a jury. Because the jury didn’t reach the same conclusion as the animals who are prowling our streets in search of a thrill. If the Left actually admitted to what the problem is here, they’d have to admit that everything they’ve pushed in recent years in order to remain relevant has led to this murder.

I think DefendUSA’s comment on narcissism is directly to the point. The ethos of the left is that everybody is some sort of special little snowflake and that anything bad that happens to anyone is some sort of structural problem with society that can be fixed by an all-knowing, all-encompassing state run by “experts” (the idiocy of such a concept is self-evident to anyone who has ever had any dealings with actual government, but the left believes in some “ideal” yet to be realized and not actual human experience).
Now, as it happens, I do tend to think that I am pretty awesome. But that comes from actual achievement and not a sense of entitlement. I realize that I have a number of very serious faults that I have only overcome with discipline and hard work: for example I know that if left to my own devices I can be pretty lazy and I have had to discipline myself to work hard, I am also very impatient by nature and have had to develop patience over the course of my life and I have had to struggle (not always successfully) with other flaws in other ways.
The thing is though that learning to discipline oneself is the foundation of character and the beginning of virtue. The left makes this impossible by constantly playing the victim card and telling underachievers that they are perfectly wonderful in and of themselves and that anything bad that happens to them is someone else’s fault. So we end up with a culture of preening narcissism, exemplified by the narcissist in chief, and events like this are the end result. None of this is new (“men without chests”, etc), but the extent to which it is as widespread as it is now is significant. Without some kind of cultural sea change I can’t see the end of it.

Why is this not receiving national attention like the Zimmerman Case?
Because black on white crime is typically punished with long prison sentences or death, unless something has changed in the last few weeks the prisons are full of black guys who commit crimes against white folks….there is not a comparison to Trayvon in the Chris Lane case because they are not the same case. 3 black guys shot a white guy in the back and will now be incarcerated for the rest of their natural lives, how does that in any way shape or form match the Trayvon case?
It would only be a similar case if Chris Lane was shot dead while trying to beat up the black guys right? Since he was shot in the back it’s obvious he’s the victim and his attackers have been arrested.
Black folks go to jail for harming white folks all the time, the statistical evidence clearly indicates that black people are properly convicted for committing crimes against white people. In certain cities like NYC blacks and hispanics commit 90% of the murders and are 90% of the victims, and they go to jail in overwhelmingly large numbers for the crimes they commit.
That’s why this is not national news, a white guy was killed by some black kids and the black kids are going to jail. That’s how it should be, but it’s hardly national news.

But all of them have those qualities. Sharpton is charismatic and a damn good orator, Jackson can work a crowd (a major political push until the “Love Child”) and Oprah parlayed the “self-made background” into a billion dollar enterprise. All oklahoma public high schools started on the 20th. one of the best days of the year for my career field, most the punks actually go to school for the first few days before they start ditching and causing trouble again. school programs would do nothing for these delinquents, they would simply ditch them as most juvenile delinquents do. yes, school is supposed to be mandatory, but look at the drop out rate for this demographic. do you really think more tax payer funded programs will decrease juvenile delinquents? all the extra after school programs will do is further divide the family, and keep kids with the state more and parents less. after school public programs are not about best interest of the kids, it is about separating the children from their parents and brain washing them to state dependent mentality early.

For those who talk about cutting education budgets, to some ectent that is true.
However, what is never examined is the massive number of unfunded mandates from both the feds and states on local school systems. Many of those mandates have to do with reporting of data (often the same data.)
If you want to keep programs, pay excellent teachers, and put money toward students, first tell the Feds and most of the state mandates to dry up.
My little county in Florida has a mere $30 – $35 million school budget shortfall. Unfunded mandates from the Feds and the state account for more than $100 million in the budget.
In other words, the lsck of money in the education system is caused – not helped – by people and bodies outside of the local school system.
