The Stars & Stripes reports that more than 60 Afghans have died since the opening of the Talibans Spring Offensive this week;
The high incidence of civilian casualties seems to be a continuation of an upward trend noted in a February report from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) that showed a 13 percent increase in non-combatant deaths in the last six months of 2012 compared to the year before.
Well, sure the Taliban is going to kill them all anyway, so they might as well get an early start. But, yeah, let’s focus on the casualties that are caused accidentally or incidentally by the Taliban hiding behind children in their compounds when coalition forces strike them. And, oh, yeah, the Afghan Army can’t call for indirect fire anymore, so the Taliban is doing a fine job with Hamid Karzai’s help.
