TSO embedded

I sent TSO on another embed this week (although this is the first one I hooked him up with). He’s with the Air Force and last I heard, he’s in Tucson, although, because it’s the Air Force, he’s going to be in several places out on the West Coast. But here’s a picture he sent. Don’t ask me where it is (I’m guessing it’s Tucson);

We’ll probably get to hear more about it, because he’s supposed to get to observe PJs and aircrews while they do their business. So look for more.

  1. I have only two questions:

1 – Is he working as a door gunner now?

2 – Did he take the beard along for the ride?

  2. Damn, Tuscon looks like a pancake. What’s the highest building there, three stories?

  3. Looks like Tucson, Phoenix is a lot greener and more scenic with CAP water; and also has amenities like a great University… and sports teams. Plus F16s instead of helos. And the food is better too. 🙂

  4. His job seems more fun than mine….he’s flying around having a great time but I will be suffering through some classes in Del Mar CA next week….being forced to stay at the marriott….

  5. BREAKING NEWS – Tucson, AZ:

TSO’s beard re-enlists in the USAF. TSO was turned away because of an issue with ASVAB score of 12. More on this story as information comes available!

  6. After Tucson, TSO’s beard will spend time at Venice Beach watching girls on roller skates, while TSO trudges home.

  7. @8. The Marriott? You poor SOB. What’s next, a force march to the ocean? Hours of mandatory viewing of beach babes? Oh, the humanity!

  8. 1. Tucson doesn’t actually need tall buildings. We’re already better than you.

    2. We have a great University here. (sun Devils bugger off…)

    3. We have A-10’s and HH-60’s and several flavors of C-130. F-16’s are just expensive lawn-darts.

    4. Our mountains are behind the photographer. 9100 feet, up from the city elevation of 2500. Southern-most ski area in the U.S. Great trail runs and mountain biking. Iron Door restaurant at the top. You don’t get chili and corn-bread until you do your trail run. (Minimum 8 miles, please, at altitude.)

    5. If he’s here through the weekend, I’ll take him up the mountain with some friends. Name the distance.

  9. Pave- headed to some lake 2.5 hours north of here tomorrow to watch PJs jump in water. Saturday is. Some sort of extraction thing on steep slopes. Maybe. Hard to tell. Was out at the Goldwater range today.

  10. Lake Roosevelt tomorrow. Need to be there at 0800. Not sure what time I need to SP.

  11. Sounds like you have a full schedule. If you run out of stuff to do, let me know. Have fun!

  12. Last I heard, the beard was pushing the van. Unfortunately they went the wrong way for two hours (204 miles by the beard) since beards are good for pretty much everything but land nav.

  13. @12 yes the Marriott….I am hoping to see a little of the sun while there schedule permitting…

  14. By the angle, looks as if they were flying from DM-AFB over South Tucson heading WSW which is pretty flat. Behind/over right shoulder to the NNW would be downtown Tucson proper with it’s tall buildings and all.
The A-10’s usually scream from DM-AFB NW out over Marana then head W out to the bombing range.
Used to love hearing the A-10’s growl overhead, it’s a very unique sound..
