Naval Base San Diego closed for phony?

Dan sends an NBC San Diego link about Naval Base San Diego which was closed for about an hour today. One Navy doctor speculated that it was because there was a phony 2-star running loose on the base;

Lieutenant Commander Andy Baldwin, U.S. Navy physician, posted a message via Twitter, “ALERT: Naval Base San Diego is secured due to someone on base impersonating a 2 Star General. We are stuck on the ship until further notice.”

The Twitter message. I’m sure if the story is true, the phony was only exercising his right to free speech.

  1. But, but, but…wearing a military uniform or lying about your service doesn’t hurt anyone, the Supreme Court said so!!!!! And they would know, for sure! Right?

  2. Could it be that at least some flag officers really are phonies? I can think of at least one during my less than stellar military career.

  3. The poser had no balls.

    Only a 2 star?

    C’mon – at least pin on “4”. That’d get someone’s attention for sure.

  4. @USMCE8, WHOA! Just a sec, what about this: If he was posing as a Navy 2-Star, did he remember to sport his SEAL trident?
