Jasper Lake, the MOH nominee

Sporkmaster tracked down Jasper Lake last year. He was taking up donations to help lobby [someone] for his medal of Honor. We inspired Stars & Stripes Rumor Doctor to track down the story.

And his awards and assignments;

Another perfectly good period of service ruined by buffoonery. He had three years of service and two ARCOMs – I didn’t get my first ARCOM until I had ten years in the Army. And he has a Combat Action Badge – so I guess he saw some shit in Iraq. But none of that matters anymore. He even made his tribe’s veteran organization hang their ass out for him.

  1. Mustang@12, maybe if he had multiple personalities. At least he has the consolation of “It’s an honor just to be nominated (by myeslf)”.

  2. Fucking Manhole Inspector.

    Also, quite possibly, a Gentleman of the Backdoor.

    This fruit does not need a salad.

  3. being aware of a little bit of information I have received it seems the vet organization put it upon itself to advocate on behalf of J. Lake and making him ask for donations from various entities. In my opinion I believe the Navajo vet organization owes an apology for running with something they had little knowledge of in trying to secure a MOH for one of their local vets

  4. I have had e-mail conversations, and at least one phone conversation with one of the officers at his VSO. That unit is apparently willing to go down in flames over this guy and his claim.

  5. the local unit, veteran organization is handled by two local vets with the blue star mothers and with very little local vet participation. The Navajo Nation Veteran Affairs Office needs to look into the matter. The local vet jumped the gun, it should have consulted with the NN Veteran Affairs Office before proceeding. As I said before it was at the urging of the local vet group to have J. Lake solicit donations and at the end makes J. Lake look like a fake vet.
