I want to take this opportunity to thank TSO for organizing the massive effort to replace the personal items the troops lost during that battle and I am proud to have been a very, very small part of that effort.
Bless you OT and TSO for that. That is one of the many reasons I love being a part of the current service members and veterans community. We take care of our own. That is something that is becoming rare in other communities.
Spent a week once at COP Keating. IMNSHO Keating was the most indefensible location the Army chose for a fort EVER. Beautiful but indefensible. Bless these troopers for fighting a defensive battle as fierce as American soldiers have ever had to fight. I’m sure the Taliban thought they finally had the Golden Fleece at hand– an overrun American COP with dozens of American KIAs and POWs. Instead they encountered 12 hours of brutal fighting, hundreds of Taliban dead on Keating and in the surrounding canyon, and in the end the Americans still held the COP, if only briefly.
