More Secret Service Issues Surface

It looks like another report of bad behavior by the Secret Service has surfaced. And this time, it’s a bit more troublesome than the last one.

This new report involves the POTUS protective detail operating on Martha’s Vineyard – including the Counter Assault and Counter Sniper teams.  And it includes a clear allegation that the Secret Service ignored or “lost” at least one report of agent misbehavior, as well as indications that local law enforcement may have helped keep things “quiet”.

The “bad” behaviors alleged run the gamut from letting local children see/touch Secret Service weapons (oh, the horror!) to hard off-duty partying to loss of credentials to disclosing sensitive operational details. The first two? Meh. The last two? Uh, different story.

The article is relatively long, and includes quotations from named witnesses. It seems credible.

A few scattered incidents here and there are what you’d expect in any 4400-person organization. But you wouldn’t expect to find the Secret Service playing fast and loose with info regarding operations. And we’ve now seen reports of more than a few scattered incidents here and there.

It’s beginning to look like there might well be a leadership problem at the Secret Service. A serious leadership problem.

I won. You lost. Too bad.

  2. Ann

@51 I’ll be sure to save that trick for my senior thesis.

  3. OWB

@51 Uhhmmm – this is not an elementary school playground.

  4. Hondo

OK; you win. And based on your sterling actions above, you get an appropriate award. Here’s your medal:

  5. Brian

    Dayum son, you never learn.

  6. Brian

    @ #52 – LOL, I coudn’t help it. He kept taking
the bait …, errrow …, hook, line and sinker.

  7. Brian

@ #53. He lost the argument when, in his frustration,
he engaged in ad hominem attacks, instead of pressing
the discussion with well-reasoned, rational arguments.
He isn’t accustomed to having anyone stand up to him.
Your snotty wisecrack was out of line, OWB. So (_x_).

  8. Brian

He’s a masochist. Good thing for him that I’m
not a sadist, or I would have ignored him. 🙂

  9. Brian

You wizkids will have to think about that one.

  10. Brian

    Nighty night now. Unpleasant dreams.

Police reports about criminal behavior by USSS personnel? You mean like the ones FoxNews used to write this article?

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/06/21/exclusive-biden-brawlers-veep-security-team-squared-off-in-nantucket-melee/

“Getting into a barroom fight with the men who guard Vice President Joe Biden would likely get someone locked up — unless the brawlers also happen to be on the very same security team.

“That’s just what happened in a bloody, booze-fueled brawl that spilled out of Nantucket’s Rose and Crown nightclub while Biden and his family were spending last Thanksgiving on the island, according to police logs, notes and reports obtained by FoxNews.com. It was one of at least two fights police in and around Martha’s Vineyard have investigated involving Secret Service agents and other members of President Obama’s and Biden’s security details in the last year as the leaders and their families vacationed nearby.”

Perhaps you can comment on the various highly professional USSS personnel mentioned in the Nantucket police report Fox reproduced? http://www.foxnews.com/us/interactive/2012/06/21/nantucket-police-report/

  12. Brian

Give it a rest, Kevin. We get it. You would faint if you had to deal with a prospect of getting into a barroom brawl.

  13. Hondo

Sheesh. Anyone know if Dallas Wittgenfeld has a relative named Kevin Brian?

(Sorry, Kevin – posted comment before coffee had taken full effect.)

  14. Brian

Um yeah, that made sense. LOL

What #63 has working for him in
his favor is that he is already
so ditzy that, as he grows older
and gets dementia, nobody will be
able to tell. I hereby Christen
    him this site’resident loon. 🙂

    Recent colloquy:
    “You said it.”
    “I’ll deny it.”

    (#100) “Yay!”
“Brian, I had no idea you were so old.”

  16. Brian

This is a very strange place
    with very strange inhabitants.

  17. OWB

Not nearly as strange as the trolls who stop by occasionally.

But, hey. In your mind you are the center of the universe. Who are we to interfere with that delusion.

  18. Brian

LOL, thanks, you just made my point.

What’s the matter, booby? Demonize me
as a troll, because you’re too lame to
    cope. Good sportsmanship, you little
twerp. Can’t get much more unAmerican
than that. Run along, junior. And (_x_)

Brian, I wish I had some of whatever pharmaceuticals (legal or otherwise) you’re smoking or ingesting. They obviously cause you to hear voices and see visions, giving you a substantially different perspective on reality. And I have to admit that reality sucks sometimes. Maybe whatever you’re smoking/taking would help.

If you’re not currently smoking or taking heavy chemicals – well, perhaps you should start. Or perhaps you’ve temporarily stopped taking your meds and should resume taking them.

  20. Brian

    (yawn)

  21. Hondo

Yeah, Brian – staying up all night surfing the Internet while posting periodic inanity can make you prone to yawning the next day. It also can make you loopy enough that your comments don’t make much sense to anyone other than yourself.

Try coming back after getting a good night’s sleep. You’ll probably make more sense to the rest of us then, too.

    Or maybe not.

  22. Brian

Ya gotta admire that blowhard’s versatility, folks.
Talking out of his ass with his foot in his mouth.

  23. DR_BRETT

    Good description of BO .

  24. Hondo

Nope. Getting a good night’s sleep didn’t help, Brian. You’re still coming across as dazed, confused, and clueless.

  25. Brian

@#74: Your reading comprehension is at a kindergarten level.
We water plants in our garden that are smarter than you are. 🙂

  26. Hondo

Brian: If you’re actually going to contribute anything of value to the discussion, we’d all appreciate your doing so. We’re still waiting for you to justify your assertion that there is no evidence of a potential leadership problem in the USSS, and to provide facts supporting that argument. And remember: merely saying “You’re wrong!” isn’t making an argument – that’s denial.

Elsewhere you seem capable of making a logical argument. You might want to try doing so here rather than acting like a spoiled brat who didn’t get his way.

However, if all you’re going to do is post juvenile insults (and very lame juvenile insults at that), just go play elsewhere. The adults here don’t really have time to play with a petulant, spoiled child who can’t get enough attention from Mommy and Daddy.

  27. Brian

You’re projecting again, you jerk. Your
assertions about me better apply to you.
Get over it, grow up, shut up and move on.

  28. Brian

I’ll let you have the last word.
I am magnanimous in victory. 🙂

  29. Hondo

Victory, eh? Damn, I always wondered what happened to Saddam Hussein’s Information Minister, “Baghdad Bob” of OIF fame. I guess we now know he reads TAH. (smile)

Secret Service agents are supposed to be moral and upright…right? Richard Johnson is having an affair with Melanie Northcutt and she has two autistic children. He only does her when he is in town and wants nothing to do with kids…sounds real moral and upright to me. She is married to a fed herself and he treats her like a queen, sad that she only cares for herself and to hell with kids and real daddy. So sad. Rich is a piece of work himself, supposedly some kind of ss commander who trains others to be like himself. So the bad behavior does start at the top, but not by chance instead it is learned from their leaders.
