If what is being said about Zimmerman having a gun permit is true, I don’t think any state allows a private gun permit to be issued for a semi automatic. Where did he get it? Who sold it? If he was so unstable, who signed off on his permit application? Yes deep rooted fears say that large black men dressed urbanely are dangerous (yet popular culture promotes this fashion and the media says it’s bad) and yes we as Americans have the right to bear arms, but no one should die cuz of their height/weight/fashion sense/race and no one should be approved for a permit or allowed a gun purchase if they could be mentally unstable.
Yeah, what are you people doing with those semi-automatic handguns, when clearly they’re more dangerous than revolvers. I’m not exactly positive on this, but I think Martin was shot once, and everyone knows that a semi-automatic pistol shoots one round faster than a revolver, right?
Recent reports I’ve seen are beginning to turn Zimmerman’s way. Police sources are saying that the forensic evidence is supporting Zimmerman’s contention that he was attacked from behind, his injured nose, injuries to the back of his head and grass stains on his back. They also say that Zimmerman was headed in the direction of his SUV when he was attacked.
Old Trooper wonders why this case which happened at Mississippi State this weekend isn’t receiving this much attention.
I’m a Mississippi State alum, so I’ll tell you why it’s not receiving any attention. 1) Mississippi is not a critical swing state for Obama and 2) it was a white guy (not even a “white Hispanic”) killed by three African-Americans, so why should the media care?

Anyhow recent revelations are making all these Trayvon memorials look ridiculous. Somehow he wasn’t quite the little saint everyone was making him out to be.
Funny how they are now backpedaling and making accusations about the media demonizing Trayvon. They sure didn’t have a problem with the media demonizing Zimmerman when the shooting was initially reported.
This is why I have serious issues with today’s pop culture, the same that brought us Souja Boi. And when it comes to investigations, always look to the forensics. There are typically three viewpoints, what one side says, what the other side says, and what the evidence says… The icing on the cake to me (I minored in Crime Scene Forensics in college) would be the kids toxicology report. Owing to his previous suspension from school, to his facebook thug photos and to his home life (as a purely observational POV, nothing politically incorrect meant by that) I would bet three rounds of beer to any of you that the kid was on some sort of illegal narcotic and that he was the primary aggressor here not Zimmerman. I would also hope that Zimmerman sues the media and certain other groups for defamation of character and for mental anguish.

@4: Without a doubt, Master Chief. There are many that I know in the “black community” that aren’t drinking the racist koolaid, but there are enough that are and include black celebrities like Will Smith, who sent out a tweet that basically tried and convicted Zimmerman and gives his endorsement to the NBP mantra about “justice for Trayvon”. Those are the ones that will influence the weak minded amongst us and I’m sorry to say that this President has done more to damage race relations and forward racial division than any President in recent history.
All I have to say about this mess is, “if I had a son, who was a member of a community watch program, was properly licensed to carry weapon in Florida, was apparently attacked from behind and recieved a broken nose and gash to his head, he would look like Zimmerman”.
If the term “cracker” can now be used against those who are half-white, does that mean 0bama is a “cracker?”

Personally, I have always believed in this little thing that the media outlets are forgetting about… innocent until proven guilty. Unfortunately, in today’s America, people are guilty until they can offer proof of their innocence that will be ignored by the media. From the vitriol against Zimmerman by the NBP and Nation of Islam to the incident by the Fort Lewis soldier in the Rockpile.
If Zimmerman goes to court, there is no way he can get a fair trial. If he does not go to court (the forensics point to his story being correct), then he will have to change his life (identity, location, etc) or risk being shot in a vigilante-style revenge killing.
All I’ve gotten from this is that it’s not cool to defend onesself from an attacker or other criminal caught in the act if he/she is black, even though that’s the 20% of the population responsible for 80% of all USA crime, per the FBI stats.
We’ve still not heard why the kid was in that neighborhood – he obviously didn’t live there.

This is really telling, and the fact that he struck a bus driver, had burglary tools and obviously stolen jewelry and pot in his book bag, and that he got caught graffittiing a wall means that he truly WAS an upstanding citizen! George Zimmerman saved Florida the cost of housing an up-and-coming criminal as well as at least five future liquor store robberies. I mean, Trayvon was 17. Little thuggish corner kids like him age in dog years. He was already a Bodie Broadus-style OG. Probably had some bodies on him, too. And since when did the criteria for self-defense become so stringent? This “kid” was black, 6’3, dressed like a gang banger, and stalking a neighborhood while reaching for something in his waistband. Despite all that, Zimmerman didn’t even pull the trigger until Trayvon initiated a physical conflict. He was ridiculously lenient. The majority would have pulled the trigger at the sight of a 6’3 black man prowling a gating community. The true tragedy is that this Zimmerman character is now being demonized in the court of public opinion for doing what anyone would have done when confronted by a violent, drug using, wannabe gangster in the middle of the night. That, and the fact a Latino has a Jewish last name, for some reason. You know some ignorant blacks are going to probably firebomb some synagogues in retaliation.
Well, this is going to help calm things down. The police have now said that Zimmerman’s story is “consistent with the evidence” they have regarding the case.
