DC cops raid Occupy campsite

The Washington Post reports that the US Park Police have surrounded McPherson Square this morning and they’re checking the tents for sleeping gear;

Police in riot gear and on horseback entered the McPherson Square encampment in Northwest D.C. this morning around 5:30 a.m. and began collecting pallets and other items from the campers.

Helicopters hovered overhead and a firehose was rolled out by police as the protesters watched. Police have told the Occupiers that they they want them to clear area around the camp’s tarp-covered “Tent of Dreams.”

You can watch it live at the Washington Post and wait for the taserings to begin, cuz, you know nothing good comes from waking up hippies at zero-dark-thirty.

  1. “parts of the park will be closed for “nuisance abatement”

    Not surprised.

    Kudos to the Park Police! This was perfect, get them up early, executed on the weekend for minimal business disruption.

    at #2, the story on the tents is that symbols of protest may remain overnight in spirit of 1st Amendment, but camping is illegal. Not saying I agree, but that’s the line that’s been presented to the public. A LOT of money went into refurbing McPherson Square, it was a lovely park before the vermin invaded.

  2. “it was a lovely park before the vermin invaded”. Radar, the same could be said about the country.

  3. Remember Zucotti? Remember how they had a mysterious ailment called “Zucotti lung”? How long do you think before one of these unsavory people had sex with a Congress Critter and created an Airborne STD or something equally foul
