According to ABC, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords will step down from her seat in Congress following the State of the Union Address;
“I have more work to do on my recovery and so to do what is best for Arizona I will step down this week,” Giffords, speaking clearly but slowly and haltingly, said in a video posted online Sunday. “Thank you for your prayers and for giving me time to recover.”
Coincidently, TAH praised Giffords for her proposal to cut Congressional pay and staff expenditures a day before she was shot by Jarod Lee Loughner. We can all appreciate the fact that she didn’t follow the Jim Brady example and use her injuries and the tragedy of that day to take away our freedoms. She also voted against Nancy Pelosi for speaker in 2009.
I lobbied her once, and found her to be a really nice lady. I’m glad she made this decision, and I hope she makes a fuller recovery.
Does this mean Sheriff Dupnik is her replacement?

It has been apparent for months now that she was just wasting a seat in Congress and could not perform her duties leaving her constituents unrepresented. Why now? Is she seeing the coming anti-Obama train and that she will not get re-elected to her seat a la Nelson in Nebraska so is bowing out?
Now we know what really happened to her. The mafia princess former speaker put a hit out on her.
jonp–this is Tucson, meaning it’s about as safe “D” as it gets outside NYC or Commiefornia. For all the crap we give Congress, it’s a shit job sometimes, and takes a lot of hours, and a heavy toll on families.
