Davis-Monthan AFB Base locked down (UPDATED 2x)

One of our PAO buddies emailed to tell us that Fox News is reporting that Davis-Monthan AFB. Base, near Tucson, AZ, is locked down after shots were fired.

Local news reports;

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base has stepped up security, locked down an elementary school and limited traffic in and out of the base due to an unspecified incident.

An elementary school on the base is on lockdown, but a spokeswoman would release few details other than no one was being allowed in or out of the base.

KOLD TV in Tucson is reporting that Sonoran Science Academy/Frank Borman Elementary on base are on lockdown, and that parents are unable to pick up students from the school.

Now Fox is saying that base officials say no shots were fired.

UPDATE: The Air Force Times says an armed civilian has barricaded himself in the something called “The Old Dorm”.

UPDATE II: Stars & Stripes says no gun or gunman was found after the lockdown.

This turned out to be a major fiasco. The base officials explicitly, and flatly, I might add, said there was never a threat just making sure necessary precautions were taken.

A friend of the family was stuck on base from 930-330.
