The intrepid Dana Milbank braved yesterday’s rain storm and blather tsunami to bring the highlights of the Congressional Progressive Caucus budget scheme which is neither progressive nor a budget;
“We’re going to call forth the sun!” Rep. Keith Ellison, the Minnesota Democrat who is co-chair of the caucus, proclaimed theatrically. His colleagues huddled under umbrellas and the wind knocked their promotional poster from its easel.
Ellison and the progressives probably would have a better chance of influencing the weather than they would passing their budget, which they are floating as an alternative to the House Republican bid and President Obama’s plan.
Among the highlights: A $4 trillion tax increase over 10 years. An increase in the top tax rate to 49 percent. A $2.3 trillion cut in defense spending – and an increase in domestic spending. Oh, and they would revive the “public option” to offer government-run health care.
Of course, the only thing the liberals want to cut is defense, increasing taxes and domestic spending. That’s the best their pot-addled brains could concoct – class warfare tax hikes and increased spending to buy votes. I wonder where the phrase “tax and spend liberals” comes from?

the only “progress” we might get from that is strait into anarchy.
The Progressive Plan is to raise taxes on the entrepreneur and the upper blue-collar-classes, cut defense, over-regulate most aspects of life in order to generate income through fines, and blame Bush and disloyal minorities. The richest 5% will be given new loopholes in exchange for election campaign donations; and the remaining military budget will get wedged with pork acquisition projects like a second, diesel-powered engine for the M203 and electro-plating the MKT.
Democratic fiscal management policies haven’t changed since Tip O’Neil swung the gavel. It’s like a Pop-40 station: don’t like this artist? Don’t worry, she’ll be on 6 more times today, and her clones will fill up the remaining 18 hours of air time, interposed with commercials for how great this station is!
Basically, if any of these assclowns were in a district where they got less than 80 percent of the vote every election, they wouldn’t dare say any of this. But then again, my ex-Congressidiot THOUGHT it, even if she didn’t come straight out and say it–oh wait, she did. But enough people figured it out and booted her ass anyway.
for the first time (I’m 65)I felt good about my financial stability, then I got my tax returns. Wow!
I’m shocked!!! Shocked, I tell you. The progressives want to dismantle the DoD, but fund things that shouldn’t be funded?
And, tax those who actually pay taxes even more, while letting those who don’t pay anything, get more money from the rest of us? Who woulda thunk it?
NHSparky,
You were blessed with a (now former) representative who couldn’t help mouthing off every chance she got. Has she returned to disrupting town hall meetings and other venues of assembly?
Nah, last I heard she was hanging out in Manch-Vegas and Portsmouth with the libtards/union hacks, and planning to run again next year. Then again, she’s the same ri-tard who on her way out the door claimed the Chinese were funding GOP candidates, which is why she lost.
Whoops–looks like it’s official:
