Where are the IVAW Guys?

82ndassoc.gif

My son is in St. Louis attending the 62nd annual 82nd Airborne Division National Convention. He is representing Jonn’s old outfit, the 1st Battalion, 325th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

I spoke with him today and the young studs and old veterans are having a great time.

I asked him if he had seen any IVAW or Code Pink protesters.

I think he’s still laughing.

He’s probably right; that would not be a good place for hippies right now.

  1. If there were any CP or IVAW, they wouldn’t dare show up during the events…I am sure cans of whoop-ass abound for just that purpose! Hoo-ah!

  2. “How do you know there weren’t any there? We have guys from the 82nd.”

    I’d call it a “S.W.A.G.”, Sarge. Haven’t seen any news reports, yet…….

    *crickets chirping*

  3. It is plain that if there were any IVAW there that they were being true to character and too damned cowardly to show themselves. They only show where they know that they’ll be protected. Hoooah! Or,,,,,,, perhaps their poster boy Jesse McFake couldn’t lead them on this one.

  4. OMG AS you make me laugh! If they are there they sure know not to open the old trap or feel the pain!

    Not all IVAW are hippies.”

No, they’re just disaffected malcontents and problem children. What a fine collection of ex-(thank god) military personnel.

Also, why is it that every time we go anywhere, we’re expected to show up trumpeting? It’s damned if you do, damned if you don’t. If IVAW members show up anywhere with the T-shirts on, they’re accused of politicizing the event. If they show up without the T-shirts, they’re accused of hiding their affiliations. Which way do you guys want it? Make up your minds, I swear.

  7. OH come on AS, I even run into Kokesh wearing his black shirt at Nationals stadium (twice now). I’ve seen him everywhere wearing that shirt. Where is it exactly that you don’t wear it? Or is it only Kokesh?

  8. Every individual member makes their own decisions on where to wear the shirt. For example, I don’t usually wear my T-shirt to battalion or brigade functions, but people know who I am and that I’m a part of the organization. Personally, I don’t usually wear the T-shirt to events when I think it’ll upstage the event. Kind of like outdressing the bride, I personally view it as a politeness thing. I view it also (my personal view) as similar to a uniform, and I won’t wear it when I’m engaging in activity I think might disgrace it.

  9. So, if I read you correctly that means you have an understanding of decorum. And since you are the only one in IVAW with that ability (seemingly) what do the others do as a guide? Only wear it on days ending in a “y”?

Now that’s funny right there, I don’t care who you are.

    Army Sergeant,

I would expect former Soldiers, in particular, to have more class, more respect, and more loyalty to the Army, the mission, and the country, than the circus put on by your IVAW.

The only type of politicizing you do is pandering to leftwing nihilists.

WE KNOW your affliation, with or without the T-shirts, sweetpea.
