    You reminded me of a student I had my 1st year of teaching who’s last name was “Hough” When taking attendance and getting to her name I hesitated knowing she probably took a lot of teasing over it. I wasn’t sure if she pronounced it “Howe” or “Huff” to avoid the obvious jokes. Everyone laughed when I paused, confirming my suspicion it was pronounced different then I was about to say it (Ho). She pronounced it “Hoke” like “Coke”…and she was quite a cutie too…
