    1. A Cinderella story outta nowhere! Long time lurker, 1st time first-timer.

Assuming a very short showing as temporary Regent of the TAH Firsts…. I here-by declare a 96 hour liberty and suspension of all pending NJP’s.

      Short safety brief:
      Don’t drink and drive.
      Don’t do dumb shit.
If you do dumb shit don’t be the last one holding the secret.
If you engage in gland-to-gland combat with an unfamiliar opponent, remember that immediate action is “Wrap-Tap-Bang!”
Most importantly, Never get underneath anyone you can’t lift.

      Happy Thanksgiving y’all.

        1. Don’t do Phil Monkress a “solid” by taking care of his problem with people questioning his claims of being a US Navy SEAL. Side effects include loss of job, home, savings and reputation.

    1. Remember to spray alcohol over it before you put it in the microwave, and drink plenty of alcohol between sips of water.

  1. Present! D’s Cantina is shifting today’s operations to the kid’s house. Turkey and ham are on the menu, plus all the various sides. All are welcome, but hurry. That boy can put away some groceries!

    1. I grew up believing the traditional green bean / mushroom soup / fried onion casserole was my grandmas recipe. Imagine the loss I felt when I saw the recipe on a can of fried onions. My childhood was based on lies. What’s next, no Santa?

      1. No soup recipe – Fresh green beans, (low sodium) chicken stock, sour cream, corn starch. Fresh mushrooms cooked in white wine with a little garlic and butter, a bit of parm chee and panko bread crumbs. We are an onion free home here (had to eat them as a kid 🤮).

Mrs Eggs is making her crock pot smashed taters.

  2. 6th
Y’all have a blessed Thanksgiving Day.

When you have time, make a list of all the things you have to be thankful for. (Don’t forget to include the Wonderful Ladies of TAH on that list.)

    1. Thanks Graybeard! I’m doing just that! It’s a very long list, too! although it’s so different for hubs and me now. We’re “the last man standing” and it’s so quiet I can hear the clocks ticking! I can feel the sands of time (87 trips around the Sun). Hip prosthesis separated a night ago when I slipped off the bed and I had an unplanned visit to the ER. Thank God for our Paramedics! Back home now and kind neighbors have graciously shared their Thanksgiving dinners! We are constantly blessed and truly thankful. It’s always heartwarming to read TAH and I have highest respect for the editors and contributors. But one, I keep my eye on if ykwim.
Stay well, ladies and gentlemen, enjoy your leftovers and take a nap! May the Lord bless and keep you.

    1. Pete Hegseth said that if/when Retired Captain Kelly gets called back to active duty, he’s facing a uniform inspection.

    1. Dear Mr. Turkey, if you try, real hard, you can fly. Your flying will not be graceful and directional control is not available. Do be grateful that your limited flying ability is a safety feature.

Decide where you desire to land and get lined up just right before you try. Be polite to anyone who gets in your flight path, they will definitely be smarter than you and they know that you will provide a tasty meal.

      Just Another Angel

      1. Wild turkeys (no, not the bottled kind) fly just fine. Short bursts at 55 mph. Domestic turkeys got just enough brain power to support life.

          1. I’ve heard that too, I really don’t know. I ran into a flock of feral turkeys as a teen. Mean, territorial, and will attack in a group. Put my ass right back in the pickup.

      1. Agree. Using a crane and hoist .. upside down and forced to eat barbeque ribs with lots of hot sauce using only one hand.

  3. Grok summary on National Guardsmen shot in DC, as of noon, November 27, 2025:

    Incident Overview

On November 26, 2025 (the day before Thanksgiving), two members of the West Virginia National Guard were shot in a targeted ambush near the White House in Washington, D.C., specifically around 2:15 p.m. ET outside the Farragut West Metro station. The victims, identified as 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom (female) and 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe (male), had reportedly been sworn in less than 24 hours earlier. Both remain in critical condition at local hospitals as of November 27 morning. The shooting occurred amid a deployment of over 2,000 National Guard troops to D.C., initiated by President Trump in August 2025 as part of a federal crime crackdown.

    Suspect Details

The suspect, 32-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was taken into custody at the scene after being wounded by return fire from other Guardsmen. He allegedly drove cross-country from his home in Bellingham, Washington (north of Seattle) with a premeditated plan to target National Guard members. Lakanwal used a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver, firing multiple times at close range: he shot one victim once, then again after they fell, before striking the second victim several times.

Lakanwal entered the U.S. in 2025 under a visa program following the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal (initially linked to Biden-era policies but processed under the current administration). He had ties to CIA-backed Afghan military units during the U.S. war in Afghanistan, as confirmed by the agency. The FBI is investigating the incident as a potential act of terrorism.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced charges including three counts of assault with intent to kill while armed and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. If the victims do not survive, charges could escalate to first-degree murder.

    Official Responses and Aftermath

President Trump: Described the attack as a “savage” and “cowardly” act by an “animal” in a Truth Social post and national address. He ordered the deployment of 500 additional National Guard troops to D.C. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth echoed this, calling for heightened security.

Local and Federal Officials: D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser called it an “act of unspeakable violence.” FBI Director Kash Patel, alongside Pirro and Metropolitan Police Executive Assistant Chief Jeffery Carroll, held a press conference emphasizing the rapid response by fellow Guardsmen that neutralized the threat. West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey (initially reporting fatalities in error) confirmed the victims’ critical status and praised the responders. Maj. Gen. Tim Seward credited the “courageous” actions of other West Virginia Guardsmen for saving lives.

Broader Context: The White House was briefly locked down (lifted by 5 p.m.). Bipartisan condolences poured in, including from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Shelley Moore Capito. Criticism has emerged over the Guard’s deployment, with some (e.g., New Yorker writer Jane Mayer) questioning its necessity amid D.C.’s crime trends, while others tie it to immigration policies.

    Public Reaction on X

Recent posts on X (as of November 27) show polarized discourse:

    * Blame directed at immigration policies (e.g., “illegal from Afghanistan under Biden” claims, despite 2025 entry) and the Guard’s D.C. presence (“If they weren’t deployed, this wouldn’t have happened”).

    * Conspiracy theories, including unverified claims of Trump using AI in his address.

    * Tributes to the victims and calls for justice, with shares of news clips and photos from the scene.

The investigation continues, with no further threats reported. Updates are expected as the victims’ conditions evolve.

    1. “Had reportedly been sworn in less than 24 hours earlier.”

What in the actual fuck? So, untrained? I’m gonna be needing the commander’s testicles, and right fuckin now!

      1. Do NG folks get sworn in as active duty in cases like this? If so, maybe it just means ‘recently activated’ which makes sense.

Sadly, I remember four years ago when many here were extremely vocal about the Biden administration dragging their feet bringing allies who fought with us to safety here.

        1. I have no idea how the guard operates. But “recently sworn in” punches my alarm buttons. Bigly.

        2. If they were brought on under title 10. Orders
Otherwise they do title 32 orders. Either way
They should have the same life insurance
          As active duty

  4. Present and unaccountable as I award myself yet another Honorary First.

  6. “If you drink alcohol, drink water after every serving.”

So if I’m drinking Irish coffee, there’s more fluid ounces of coffee than Jameson’s…. Coffee is essentially flavored water… I’m checking all the boxes at once, right?
