Aaron Spencer, a father from Lonoke County, Arkansas, has announced he is running for sheriff. Not interesting? How about that he is currently charged with second degree murder – in Lonoke County – by the current sheriff? For killing the sexual predator who was assaulting his daughter?
Aaron Spencer, an Army veteran and farmer, announced his candidacy this month in Lonoke County a year after authorities say he shot and killed a man who had been out on bond after being charged with numerous sexual offenses against his underage daughter.
Spencer has pleaded not guilty and is out on bond while awaiting a trial set for early next year. His attorneys do not deny that their client shot and killed Michael Fosler, 67, but maintain he acted within the law to protect his child from a predator.
The primary election in Arkansas is next March, with the general election in November 2026. He is not yet officially on the ballot since candidate filings begin next month.ABC News
Mr. Spencer was charged after, when he found his then-13-year old daughter was missing from his house, he left his house in search of 67 year old Michael Fosler, who was out on bail from 43 charges including internet stalking and child pornography charges. Spencer’s daughter had reported numerous sexual acts and grooming on Fosler’s part. A car chase ensued, Mr. Fosler was allegedly run off the road, apparently then tried to attack Spencer, who applied the traditional Taxpayers Saving Round and turned out Fosler’s lights permanently. Heather claimed in a Facebook post that Fosler had begun by contacting her through text messages after meeting her at a family friend’s house.
He would be released on a $50,000 bond, though, and the family moved to issue a no-contact order against Fosler, though this didn’t stop him, according to CNN.
In October 2024, Spencer was charged with second-degree, with his pre-trial set for 16 December and his trial beginning on 26 January 2026.
In a video on Facebook, he announced his intention to run for the position of Lonoke County sheriff, claiming that he was ‘the father who acted to protect his daughter when the system failed’. LADBible
It is possible the judge could rule against his running while awaiting trial. Most locals interviewed did not seem terribly concerned, according to the reports, and a GoFundMe set up to help out on Spencer’s legal expenses has raised $81,000 so far.
Perhaps a box of ammo would be an appropriate gift, perhaps on the name of Gary Plauche, who killed his son’s sexual abuser Jeff Doucet on camera back in 1984.

It’s hard to fault the Dad for taking out his daughter’s attacker. Especially when she was in the predator’s car with him at the time this all went down.
He was able to detain him until police arrived.
Here’s my internet vote for the father.
Sounds to me like a corrupt county. Letting this POS free to evil deeds.
It’s the standard Southern “good old boy” system.
As a resident of the county in question, I can say that Mr Spencer has his work cut out for him trying to win the election. The current sheriff has won every election since I moved here in 2005, thanks in large part to the entrenched “good old boy” system
I too have seen it locally. However, in my AO, I honestly believe that its name recognition. Citizens are too lazy to do any type of research on candidates on their own. They see a name that they recognize and that’s the one that gets the check mark. AND, that’s also why nothing ever changes.
Oh,, and money! There’s also ALWAYS money!
Some “good ol boys” believe if she’s old enough to bleed, she’s old enough to breed.
The father felt otherwise and gave the perp a cranial vasectomy.
If I were a juror, I might just vote not guilty.
Yep!
They tried to gag him but failed.

Most of the time lawyers strongly caution their clients against seeking attention or talking about the case. I am sure he correctly assumes if he can get good parents instead of sex predators in the jury box he will never be convicted.
As I understand the law, the current Sheriff didn’t let the perv go. It takes a judge to do something the crazy. I believe the father was perfectly within his rights as a father. He has to arrested and tried. No matter how much of a piece of shit that pervert is you just can can’t go around killing people. I firmly believe dad will be found innocent of murder, and guilty of some smaller charge and sentenced to time served. The real problem in that county is the perv going through a revolving door in jail. Guys like him need to stay in prison, and be in General Population so they know what its like to be the prey.
Generally, in most states, a sheriff can grant a signature bond for arrests under his jurisdiction. If the DA disagrees he can issue a warrant and hold a hearing before a judge to provide for bail or other restrictions. In many states, the arresting officer is delegated the authority to issue bonds for traffic warrants and misdemeanors. This is often subject to policy such as signature bonds for shoplifting.
This avoids tying up the court’s time with bail hearings.
“I firmly believe dad will be found innocent of murder, and guilty of some smaller charge and sentenced to time served”
I wish not. Jury nullification.
Quick google search says that a jury finding of innocent means he can have the charges sealed.
Juries don’t find people innocent.
Correct. They can only return a not guilty verdict
Embarrassing misfire on my part. Thanks for the correction.
Report says the perv attacked him.. sounds like clear self defense, so in that case, he should NOT have been arrested / charged
Gary Plauche approves.
I was thinking of jeff doucet being related to John Doucett,B western bad guy charactor actor and bad/good guy on TV Superman shows then relized that John has 2 tees at the end of his last name.
Well, this is interesting.
We found Michael George Fosler’s “Find A Grave” site:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/283518026/michael-george-fosler
When you blow up the picture of Fosler’s headstone, it looks as if he is wearing a “military” uniform.
His wife, Jane, died in 2023. According to her obituary, “Survivors include her husband, Michael George Fosler, her sweetheart of 44 years. They relocated in 1995 from Indiana due to Mike’s military career.”
https://www.moorescabotfuneralhome.com/obituary/jane-fosler
Additionally, according to this CNN article,
“Aaron Spencer is a farmer and general contractor. The couple are raising their daughter and young adult son following Spencer’s time in the Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne and was deployed to Iraq as a paratrooper in the late 2000s…”
https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/04/us/aaron-spencer-michael-fosler-arkansas-cec
The same article states “Aaron Spencer was jolted awake by the frantic barks of his daughter’s chihuahua. He checked the bedroom of the 14-year-old, and she appeared to be fast asleep, tucked beneath the covers. But then he looked more closely. It was a stuffed animal, wrapped in her hoodie. She was gone.”
This sad story sounds as if it could be a script for a Lifetime Movie…🙄
Further research: Michael George Fosler was the Town Marshal of Hamlet, Indiana in the 1980s/1990s.
You can’t make this stuff up.
As David points out, a plot for a B-Movie…
Ninja – I remember reading somewhere about a familial relationship between…. the sheriff and judge? the perv and … someone else in power in the community? Can’t find it now, but know you are the Ninja for a reason.
43 charges and out on bail?!?! What the-!!! At what point does “Protect and Serve” become a cruel, sick joke???
I don’t blame the dad one bit. He gets my vote for Mayor!!!
