Weekend Open Thread

Want to understand what the Democrats really want for this country? Read quotes associated with Vladimir Lenin and other communists who brought a totalitarian communist government into being. Too many leftists in the United States believe that what the Democrats and the leaders of protest movements, such as ANTIFA and BLM, want is true equity, social justice, etc. The reality is that the movers and shakers, of the Democratic party and their allies, want to consolidate wealth and power. History provides examples of how things like this usually end. Enjoy your weekend!

      1. Alright AH!!
In memory of our beloved WoT King KOB, you’re an official 3-peat ? and a WoT Whore. 😀
        Cheers

    1. Cong of the Rats to ya, AH, ya beats me by 5 seconds.
May your reign be honorable, with many treats, imbibables, and a clean washroom.

    2. Q: Does “1st” count the same as “first” in the WoT?
I think we need a ruling from the ‘Ed Admin.

        1. Precedence accepted…..for now.
Still thinking we need a ruling from TAH VG Admin.

          1. 6th

We’re going to need more food and beverages while we wait for the official ruling on the field. That said, it is cheaper not to be first.

      1. The ruling is:

Under the military nomenclature/numeric system, “1st” is an acceptable substitute for “First”.

        1. Finished the 13 radiation treatment earlier today.
2022 was 15 treatments on the front of my nose.
new one was on my upper lip so I have to be careful about giving anyone any lip…

          1. Ah. My mom has pretty bad asthma. Ragweed is the worst for her. Had to give a lift to Urgent Care a week ago. I hope you feel better!

  1. Hack Stone will just have to be satisfied with making the Top Ten. Hack Stone will be in Japan when the Weekend Open Thread drops next week, and the last time he was overseas he scored the first comment for the WOT. You have been warned.

    1. Only 3 minutes late for the show. Can Hack Stone at least get the title for Miss Congeniality?

      1. Since you’re being congenial that you missed the WoT first….ok.

      1. Hack Stone will be 13 hours into the future, so while you guys are busy hitting the refresh button, Hack Stone will already have the winning numbers for the lottery.

  2. I shall be confused on Monday. Whilst liberals will be reminding of us of how Columbus should not be celebrated; I will be thinking of how Winston Churchill declared Columbus to be the first socialist. “He didn’t know where he was going when he left, he didn’t know where he was when he got there, and he got someone else to pay for the trip” said Churchill.

    1. The Woke Left: America is stolen land taken by imperialist Europeans who committed genocide against the peaceful indigenous people of this land.

Also the Woke Left: Anyone who wants to come here should be allowed in with no vetting.

      1. What, you expect consistency from that bunch?

“Aren’t ye a wee bit auld t’be a believin’ in Leprechauns, laddie?”

    1. That would be 5/77th FA (AKA KoB) with a streak of 11 in a row (from 20 Mar 2020 to 29 May 2020.

(Info garnered from the Coveted Book of OT “Firsts/1sts” that I’ve maintained for going on 11 years.

    1. Time to catch up on all those honeydoos, and be a constant pain in her,,, ah, yeah whatever, I ain’t going any farther. 😉

      1. Welllll I ain’t the constant pain… yet. Depends on what Chuckie and the Dems do. I’m keeping plenty busy. So far!

  3. Happy Friday, you Gents. Hope you had a great week. News with me is I had my midterms yesterday and I got an 83%. I’m happy with that grade. In the coming weeks, I’ll be studying for my second to last set of ASEs, which will include the automatic transmission portion, which I’m the weakest at.

Now for my royal decree portion: no special decree this time. Just eat heartily, drink heartily, and laugh heartily.

Now for the history portion: I’ve recently become interested in the transition period in Europe between the 1500s and early 1700s. What with the cannibalistic Dutch, constant warfare, plunging temperatures, and the Reformation. Not a pleasant time to be alive….But, hey, Knights with guns:

    1. It looks like, from the news chopper that the only thing left is the vehicles in the employ parking lot, and they are not in very good shape.

    2. I believe they made cast explosives for 155mm artillery rounds. Also other interesting “ordinance” bits.

      So I am immediately suspicious.

Also kinda surprised. I thought such places were bunkered and compartmentalized to prevent such complete disintegrations.

If you haven’t seen the pictures, it’s as if the USS Enterprise fired main phaser banks and vaporized it. Just some junkyard debris at the edges and maybe the outline of the concrete slab.

RIP. A whole bunch of folks just clocked out for the last time. Prayers for the families, please.

    3. It was one of several buildings at the site. I work with the employees there who x-ray the charges (in a different building) and have communicated with one of them so far. She suffered minor injuries and transported some of the injured to the hospital. From the news reports and aerial views, I don’t see how anyone in the affected building could have survived.

  4. It’s the weekend? When you are furloughed, these things all sort of blend together….

  5. Sorry, folks, but trivia will be late. I’m back in the hospital, this time for congestive heart failure and pneumonia.

This year has been a real bitch.

    1. Dayummm, dude! Never-damn-mind the trivia; take care of your internal works and get back to us later when you’re in good working order.

    2. If you want me to take over for a bit, let me know. I’m just a civilian, though I hang around here for the perspective and the humor. Not sure I can live up to your humor standards, but I’ll give it my best shot.

    3. Crap, man. I hope you feel better and get out of the hospital. I’ll say a prayer for you tonight 🙏

    4. A Double Whack? Man, take care or yourself and listen to the medics. Had a friend who spent weeks in the hospital with CHF.

      1. Pain is proof of life; one cannot be in pain if one is not alive. Or, as I told my Post Commander, when my sainted body is displayed at my wake, those who show up will say, “Yep, he done used it up!”

      2. The dumbassery starts in our yute, continues through most of our adulthood, and every bump, bruise, and fracture accumulates until one day, everything hurts. My dad warned me about this. The older I get, the smarter he was.

        1. I was talking to my daughter’s pediatrician about the number of bruises she had. A big part of me was proud of her adventurous spirit, a small part of me was concerned about some underlying blood disease or some such problem, a tiny part of me was concerned some know it all would say she was being abused.

The doctor replied with words that live with me to this day, “Couch potatoes don’t get bruises”.

          1. There ya go! I blame a lot of stuff on being in grade school during the Evel Kneivel years. We went through a hell of a lot of bicycle rims. Pads, helmets? Never heard of ‘em!

            1. I call to mind Patrick F McManus who taught us to never ask another man about his scars. Mr McManus warned us if the story is told too often the wound may become fatal.

                1. I envied his childhood. Anyone who had to repeat the first grade because of being absent too many times is my kind of person.

Especially since his mother was the teacher.

How often, as I sit behind my desk doing my job, would I rather be fishing. He was heroic enough at such a young age to actually do it.

        2. 10 ft tall and bullet proof runs out long before we get old. My 5yo grandson likes me to get on the floor to play (always have a plan to get back up) or play some game he made up that usually involves running, jumping or attempting to climb trees. He doesn’t understand pop pop is 65, he just wants me to play with him when we get together. So I do to the best of my ability and hope we don’t get together for a few days after.

    1. Given the “wonderful” degree of scrutiny with which the Motor Voter Act is applied in many places, I wonder if he’s registered to vote as well.

  6. Well late as usual. The other day I started writing Christmas cards then noticed that I had to go over my cursive writing and grabbed my newer 2020 edition of Cursive Logic workbook and went to work on certain small case letters until I get it right. some of Those capital letters have more loops than Carter has Liver pills, and those will wait. I send out 25 cards to LPH 3 crew members but used to be more since we lost a few. 10 go out to friends and neighbors and 11 go out for Chanukah . Back in 2007 When I moved to Florida, I was pushing almost 60.

  7. Present and accounted for, SIRs!!!
    (Fucking fucktards) 😛 😀

    1. My wife and I have two Belgian Malinois pups that are about 2.5 months old. Supper smart. We have always raised German Shepherds and Blue Heelers. These two are picking up on training faster than any puppy that we have ever had. My wife is a certified dog trainer and says that they are picking up on commands faster than any dog that she has ever worked.

    1. At first I wondered how the hell he got it up there.

Upon further reflection though, I really DON’T want to know how he got it up there. My therapy sessions have been giving me vast improvement…I don’t want to have to start over,

  8. Some of you may have had concerns over the last year as to the housing situation of the Vice President of the proud but humble woman owned business formerly located on Lonesome Pine Lane and previously Wilson Lane in Bethesda, but your concerns are assuaged not that Psul has found suitable shelter.

  9. With the government shutdown and resulting furloughs, some government employees may have their health care coverage lapse, but rest easy, Phil Monkress is providing free hernia checks and prostate exams for those who identify as male for the duration of the shutdown.

  10. Yeah, kinda late, still present and unaccountable as I once again award myself yet another Honorary First.

    ((((OVER)))

      1. Nevermind. AI Generated. Look at the flip-flops.

AI generated images and videos are getting too realistic.

      2. Sorta like if in the field always try to sleep by the biggest tree so vehicles won’t run over you in the dark.

        1. When I was a mech platoon leader, I caught one of my men sleeping in his fart sack directly in front of one of the tracks of his squad’s M-113 APC. If the brake locks on the laterals would have released he would have been a flat cat.
