Justice Department paralegal gets fired for flipping off the National Guard

Elizabeth Baxter arrived for work. She bragged to a security guard about how she gave the bird to National Guard soldiers. In addition to the hand gesture, Baxter told the guardsmen, “F* the National Guard”. Unfortunately for Baxter, her actions were recorded. This recording made it easy for Attorney General Pam Bondi to terminate Baxter’s employment with the U.S. Department of Justice. Bondi made it clear that if an individual working for the DOJ opposes the Trump administration’s mission and disrespects law enforcement, that individual will no longer be working for the DOJ.

From Fox News:

Elizabeth Baxter of the department’s environmental division arrived for work just after 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 18 at the DOJ’s “4CON” building in the NoMa district, where she bragged to a security guard that she had just made the gesture at Metro Center Metro Stop and told the guardsman, “F–k the National Guard,” Bondi said, according to the New York Post.

“Today, I took action to terminate a DOJ employee for inappropriate conduct towards National Guard service members in DC,” Bondi told the outlet.

“This DOJ remains committed to defending President Trump’s agenda and fighting to make America safe again,” she continued. “If you oppose our mission and disrespect law enforcement — you will NO LONGER work at DOJ.”

Later that day, Baxter was seen on DOJ security footage sticking up her middle finger at the National Guard and exclaiming, “F–k you!” the outlet reported. She was also allegedly seen demonstrating to a department security guard how she held up her middle finger.

On Aug. 25, she allegedly arrived at work and again boasted to the security guard that she hated the National Guard and that she told them to “F–k off!”

“You are removed from your position of Paralegal Specialist, GS-0950-11, Environmental Defense Section, Environment and Natural Resources Division, and from the federal service, effective immediately,” Bondi wrote in a termination letter to Baxter on Friday following an investigation into her conduct, according to the outlet.

  1. Actions have consequences.
    Elections have consequences.
Welcome to The Immutable Law of Unintended Consequences.

    Fired is an acceptable alternative.

      1. Sometimes that’s what it takes to get someone’s attention. The bigger the cost, the more they pay attention (in theory).

  3. Oh, yes. That is completely rational behavior. Flipping off National Guardsmen who were Federalized and doing their duty is completely rational. Sarc/

How easily the dim’s mask falls off to reveal their hatred for the military.

  4. “Paralegal Specialist, GS-0950-11, Environmental Defense Section, Environment and Natural Resources Division”

I’ll bet she has an assistant.
At least she didn’t claim to be an AG.

  5. It was surprisingly difficult to find her pic. Here she is, the very picture of a virtual signaling AWFL.

    1. Brother, I zoomed in on your posted pic, and I’m gonna say that’s close enough and good enough. I don’t think that clearer or closer is going to be better!

  6. I have mixed emotions about these summary firings. On the one hand, if you like your cushy government job and want to keep working it, shut your mouth, bite your tongue, and keep your fingers to yourself. Regardless of who’s in power. I was just a run-of-the-mil NCO, but I never stated my feelings about Obama or Biden when I served under them. Maybe on here, behind my screenname and in the comfort of my own home, but definitely not in-person and while wearing the uniform. If I had done so, it would have been fitting for me to at least get a stern talking to from my 1SG and/or CO.

On the other hand, government bureaucracy is bad enough as it stands. For the most part, though, worker bees are able to do their jobs without the risk of serious reprisal from senior officials. If anything, I hear it’s almost too hard to fire most GS employees. Then again, there’s a big difference between a GS-7 upsetting their GS-9 supervisor and having the “big boss” GS-11 or -13 try to terminate them, and a GS-11 getting the personal attention of a Cabinet-level superior.

Do I agree with her actions? Hell no. Do I think she demonstrated a lack of maturity and judgment? Of course. Ultimately, am I upset by her getting fired? No, it serves her right, and she’ll have some free time to think about priorities and how to properly conduct herself. Assault is assault, and actions have consequences.

We all know what’s coming when the next Dem gets elected, though. Republicans are bad about following their Democrat opponents’ pettiness. Trump and his Cabinet are different, as evidenced by this and the anti-ICE Hoagie Hero. In 4-12 years (likely the shorter period), though, I expect a mass exodus of MAGA from government, at the “invitation” of their new Dem bosses.

But who cares… Fock that beach.

  7. Another DOJ employee shit canned for stupid behavior? Leaves me wondering if she and Sean Dunn were buddies.

They can always learn to code.

    1. I can still pass the 13 wpm code test but I’ve never been able
to pass the 21 wpm test.
Not much work out there anyway. Maybe maritime or Navy.
      I’ll bet Jeff can code.

      1. If you ever accidentally sent the same message twice via Morse Code, did you experience remorse?

    1. Ahhh yes. I remember my active-duty days in the Corp back in the 80’s when it was referred to as “The Suck”, hence the term “Fuck the Suck” but don’t dare let a service man or woman of another military persuasion say it. Oh no no no…..

    1. Looks like someone is gonna have to refinance their house. And car. Skip the mani-pedis. No more Starbucks. I’m lovin it.

      1. She will probably file a lawsuit saying her firing was a violation of her first amendment rights, or something equally as stupid.

        1. My boy is a farrier, and his standards are WAY too high to touch something like that!

    1. Once fired, I don’t think the union can or will represent her. She isn’t a dues paying member anymore, and the union probably will tell her it sucks to be you, thanks for this shiney new BA car bought with your monthly contributions and don’t forget to fill out a withdrawal card so that you remain in good standing with the union.
