The Jerusalem Post reports that, according to Israeli Defense officials, President Bush plans an attack on Iran before he leaves office;
US President George W. Bush intends to attack Iran in the upcoming months, before the end of his term, Army Radio quoted officials in Jerusalem as saying Tuesday.
The official claimed that a senior member of the president’s entourage said during a closed meeting that Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were of the opinion that military action was called for.
However, the official continued, “the hesitancy of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice” was preventing the administration from deciding to launch such an attack on the Islamic Republic.
I figure Iran has a few months to think about it, though. I suspect that any attack would come after the November elections but before a new President takes office to blunt the political impact. Given the fact thatthe president waited until after the midterm elections in 2006 to announce the “surge”, it only makes sense. It may also complicate any plans that Iran’s clients have for the inevitable attack on US interests in 2009.
Of course, the next few months will become an opportunity for Iran to reverse it’s current slide toward conflict and president Bush won’t have to use the hammer on them. But, it’s Iran choice, isn’t it?

Info? Disinfo? Headgames? Yep.
Little Mahdidinnerjacket likes to talk a big game, but I’ve heard rumblings that Iran’s military leadership is quite uneasy these days.
Articles like that from the JPost only help to add to their paranoia and it’s fun to watch. Another benefit is that idiot appeasers on the left have a cow over such matters.
Great example of the MSM making it seem like Iran is the aggressor here instead of reportingthe truth that we are provoking Iran.
Jonn wrote: How are we provoking them? Take over their embassy and hold diplomats hostage for 444 days? Kidnap their envoys in Beirut? Sending rockets to their neighbors so they can rocket populated areas? Provoking them because we’re not living in the 12th century? Provoking them because we treat our women and gays like equals?
Jonn,
Looks like a classic case of cognitive dissonance regarding the commenter above.
Ever since Iran’s Islamic revolution of 1979 – tacitly endorsed by Jimmy Carter – that nation has been an avowed enemy of the United States.
It matters not who has been president. Nor has it mattered what a president’s policies were regarding Iran – they’ve always rattled their sabres. Or worse.
Iranian “students” took scores of Americans hostage under Carter. Hizbollah attacked our Marines in Lebanon in 1983 under Reagan. Iranian boats mined the Straits of Hormuz in the late 80’s and got their butts handed to them by the 160th SOAR. Now they’re supplying terrorists in Iraq with EFPs, IED technology and training.
We aren’t provoking them. They are the aggressors.
Jonn wrote: It would seem. But I’m waiting for Bob Bakian’s response. I’m sure he’ll have lots of documentation for us instead of his usual bumpersticker platitudes.
The IAEA published a report, the most extensive to date I might add, stating that Iran is years away from developing a nuclear bomb yet we constantly harass and make false claims against them, convicting them without proof. Furthermore, why is it such a big deal if they have nuclear capability? Is a nuclear weapon not a deterrent? Do you think the United States would be acting so aggressively if we knew they had nuclear power? We have successfully hid behind our nuclear arsenal for years so who are we to say nobody else can?
Take a good look at how the Straits of Hormuz incident was reported. It was obviously falsely represented and portrayed as another Gulf of Tonkin incident to try and rally support behind this administration to take action against Iran. ADM Fallon quit his job as the Chief of U.S. Forces in the Middle East and Central Asia primarily because of our current posturing towards Iran and our foreign policy in the Middle East in general. As a former Surface Warfare Officer who made numerous transits through the Straits in the last 3 years, I can attest to how the queries are conducted and how we are allowed to respond and that was clearly a doctored tape.
Jonn, the CIA was behind overthrowing a democratically elected president in Iran in 1953 and replaced him with a Shah dictatorship, but I am sure WE were provoked into doing that. How are you going to twist these facts around? The precedent was set in 1953 and the CIA has been very active in Iran ever since. The argument that we treat our women and gays as equals brings up another good point, who are we to tell another country how to treat their people? If Iran treats their women and gays different than us is that a justification to go to war?
TC, this is too easy. Show me the proof that Iran is supplying and training terrorists. The fact that FOX news or CNN said it certainly does not qualify as proof but I would sure like to see where the stone cold proof is that will support your claims. To go even further, after weeks of broadcasting how the U.S. had “definite proof” the Iranians had been killing American troops, reporter Tina Susman of the L.A. Times was going to show the alleged Iran-supplied explosives and their destruction but the report was canceled because the U.S. realized they had no proof they were from Iran.
Jonn wrote: An extensive IAEA report? How is that possible? Yeah, proof from Fox or CNN should certainly be suspect. You should include any other source that proves you’re wrong.
From your own article Jonn:
“Commenting on Iran Monday, ElBaradei told an audience in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El Sheik: “We haven’t seen indications or any concrete evidence that Iran is building a nuclear weapon and I’ve been saying that consistently for the last five years.”

Jonn wrote: And how would he know if Iran won’t let him inspect? I’ve never seen you, but I’ve been saying all along that you’re ugly.
Jonn, it *is* your blog, so are certainly free to disregard my advice. But you really shouldn’t feed the trolls. Its not good for your blood-pressure.
If he’s not a Paulian, he’s certainly an Obama supporter. I came across another blog where it was reported that the Obama campaign had sent out talking points to encourage people to “challenge” in expression of support for McCain, and, by implication, Bush.
But, if *want* to engage this troll, you should challenge him to defend his candidate’s strategy of appeasement. That might be entertaining enough to actually get me to join in.
Jonn wrote: But I love to make them sputter.
Typical E-dog response.
Jonn wrote: Typical? Meaning that you can’t answer? The ugly thing was just to illustrate my point – apparently it worked. You’re speechless.
Right, looking at the history of the points made it’s clear you are the one that cannot come up with anything of substance yet again. You get facts in front of you that you cannot refute and you resort to “ugly” comments, you certainly are a T.E.D. and you are how old?
Bob- I appreciate your thorough research and analysis backed up with facts. But if you’re looking for open-minded consideration of your ideas you’ve come to the wrong shop man. I wouldn’t expect anything more than name calling, ducking and dodging in response.
Jonn wrote: OK, Rooney, can you explain to me why you and Bob Bakian are both arriving here on the same IP address? You can drop the sock puppet thing.
I know Bob, he works with me. That’s it.
Someone a little paranoid, Jonn?
LOL.
Loving this.
Welcome to you though GlennGreenwald/Bob/Rooney/Lambchop!
Jonn wrote: Yeah, I suppose if we all went to the Irish Times, Bob and Rooney would never be at the bar at the same time like some kind of “I Love Lucy” skit.
Jonn:
Sorry to teach you, even though I know you are omniscient, but two computers that share the same network cannot have the same IP address.
Jonn wrote: That’s kinda my point.
You are insinuating that Rooney and I are the same person and have the same IP address, and that is false.
-“OK, Rooney, can you explain to me why you and Bob Bakian are both arriving here on the same IP address? You can drop the sock puppet thing.”
Jonn wrote: Anything else?

Proves absolutely nothing Jonn but nice try, not even a full IP address there so great detective work!
Jonn wrote: OK, well, I guess you could have both logged on coincidentally 9 seconds apart, but did you know that posting to a forum is nothing more than sending a web email? You really should stop trying to press my skills at this;
I believe you Jonn.
So do I.
Jonn wrote: *chirp*
I’m not a computer expert but I’d guess the IP address is from our office’s server. Like I said, we work in the same office. BTW- the reply spot says your email won’t be published.
Jonn wrote: Your’s wasn’t, or was it? The truth is; I’ve suspected you two were the same person weeks ago when one of you replied to someone else as the wrong personality. If you had just come clean in the first place, I wouldn’t have published anything – but, you kept pushing it and inferring that I was paranoid and incompetent. I have three computers in the network in my house, they all register different IPs.
You’re not a computer expert but you work for a technology company? That’s reassuring.
Jonn,
I’ve seen the same thing, with posters with “multiple personality disorder”, on the local blogs in Rochester. We also got trolled on the RochesterConservative Pirate Forums by a lefty trying to pose as a redneck.
To our leftist leaning “comrades” out there, try to be real…
Jonn wrote: It happens on almost every forum from time-to-time. I try to keep the forum open though, because it belongs to my readers. It used to be closed, but I like the idea that anyone can come through and make a comment.
Look I don’t know how I could possibly convince you otherwise but you’ll just have to take my word for it. We were both in the Navy together and we work at the same office but that is where the similarity ends. You see how it says “all” in the address. I’m guessing that is what it would say for anyone in this office. If it is easier to write us of then so be it. Doesn’t make your non-answers any more correct.
Jonn wrote: Non-answers? I didn’t answer you because you won’t accept the truth. I’m not going chasing across the internet to bring you proof that right in front of your lyin’ eyes. And why should I continue having a discussion with a liar and cheat who creates a sockpuppet friend to agree with him on a discussion forum?
jonn,
You really do try to keep this an open forum!
We had to moderate registration on the RC Pirate Forum because the troll was posting real vile stuff, porn, about our daughters and wives getting raped. The only way to stop it was moderating registration.
Jonn wrote: I have a filter that sends comments with certain words to Limbo for my approval.
FWIW, Jonn, seems that the earlier comment by you about “ugly” was intended more as a humorous example of making a judgment without any grounds or even basic examination, etc. Like the IAEA about nukes in Iran????
I just hate to see the “twins” have their comment about you insulting him stand.
Jumping on it in high dudgeon seems kind of goofy. (Kind of like the Obamessiah assuming that the whole appeasement thing was directed at him personally????)
But what the hell do I know….. I continue to amaze Rooney more and more, each time I post. 🙂
Maybe they only trust one of them at the keyboard at a time???? Yeah, THAT’s the ticket !!!!
Jonn wrote: Or Bob is really “Little Rooney”.
That’s a really half-Bakian-ed comment, Jonn.
What I’ve witnessed in the forums and blogs is that the lefties have been responsible for the “multiple identity disorder” issue and the trolling incidences.
Is this an example of what moral relativism brings to the table…
The better question is what kind of job do they have that allows them “both” to blog all day? I’m an ER nurse and I can read your blog at work when I’m at Triage and no patients are waiting, but I doubt the hospital would appreciate me doing it when I’m actually supposed to be doing patient care. Must be part of that special “officer training” that I missed out on being a rag hat. LOL
