    2. Indonesia has now offered zero tariffs as well. That is going to be the crack that breaks the dam with China and Vietnam. Indonesia has the capability to produce nearly as much as China and can easily displace a huge portion of their business.

      Vietnam has also offered zero tariffs but they have a basket of other taxes that make it meaningless.

      1. You sure read that one wrong. Energy was just “one of the ways”. He was talking cars and agriculture products as well. Europe has some of the most protectionist rules on agriculture products in the world.

  2. The discounts for DEI seems like just poor business practices. Most of us know what happens to businesses with poor business practices (maybe Lars doesn’t).

    Because we also believe in capitalism, and live and let live it is fare to allow such practices. It is also fare for us to take our business someplace else. If they want to have a minority marathon, go for it. Hope they just vastly inflated the price of participating to at least break even when every one is getting a 50% discount. Otherwise that may be the last time we hear about this, except in the courts when the businesses that supported it want their money.

  4. It seems to me that the organizers of the marathon don’t really understand how equity works. If they truly wanted equity, the starting point for each runner should be handicapped in such a way that everyone crosses the finish line at the same time. If my 63-year old body can only cover 7 miles in the time that the fastest marathon runner can cover the full 26 miles, then I should start 7 miles from the finish line and start at the same time. That’s equity in action.

  6. DAAAYUUUM! So much to unwrap…where/how do we start? Pedo pills? Woodchippers? Rope and low hanging branches? How about a tax/tariff on stupidity? Now that would wipe the National Debt in no time at all. It may be a little crazy in my own little world, but there’s no insanity…or stupidity.

    Two dudes masquerading as ladies to compete against each other in a men’s only women’s contest seems so surreal as to be some sort of odd fictional moment, and yet here we are…

Do we continue to do as we have for the last 100+ years or do we bite the bullet and do what is needed to change the trajectory? I’m not concerned for myself, I don’t have much time left, but I do have concerns for my Grandchildren. Will they stand at my Veterans Headstone 50 years from now when they are my age and ask…”Grand Papa, why didn’t you do more to save us?”
