  1. That MAC with two hashmarks either has good oral technique or some serious blackmail material.

    1. Left-over pic from the Computer Based Training article. I thought it incongruous enough to stay in the Boomer file.

      1. Question on the paper in front of him: After looking at this screen, are you hungry for Neapolitan ice cream?

  2. I admit to being a POG…Proud Old Gunner! Ol’ Riley WISHES he had my dog’s life. Gradually getting The Former Hood Rat out of The Coco (Puffy Puppy) Melon but I’m convinced that he was Marine in a former life ’cause The Devil Dog in him still comes out.

    1. I’m also proud of being a POG (Person Other then Grunt).
SOMEBODY has to keep repairing the comms that grunts keep breaking, so that they can continue doing their jobs.
I can be trained to do much of their job.
Can they be trained to do my job?
“You can talk about us, but you can’t talk without us”
(ps, I would also sell pogie bait and sodas to the grunts when we were on FTXs. I’d sell out quick)

  3. The first Command Master Chief has five gold hashmarks for 20 years of honarable service. The second has at nine red hashmarks for 36? years of service.

Someone was a bad boy at some time. Or maybe a reservist.

    1. “What are they going to do, not recommend me for E-10?”*

*words from my favorite Flight Engineer Master Chief.

      1. C’mon. If the UN ever gets invited to “help” the USA, you would be a charter member of #TeamHeadsOnPikes

          1. Sea creatures gotta eat too, ya know. Weight the dead ones down and build an artificial reef.

        1. (Vick stands next to a pit full of angry, hungry dogs)

          “This is madness!”

          “This … is.. ” (kick!) “SPOT-AAAHHHHHH!”

  4. Regarding the SS Minnow’s being a 1964 Wheeler capable of cruising at 12 kt/hr and could not have traveled more than 41.5 [nautical] miles …. that does not matter!

“The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew the Minnow would be lost.
    The Minnow would be lost.”

So the skipper was at the mercy of King Neptune!

No one’s childhood was a pack of lies.

  5. Shouldn’t that salty sailor have gold stripes instead of red? I thought 12 years was the cut line?

    1. Should. My uncle retired at 20 years as an SCPO/E8 with red rank– join the Navy, see the world, get into fights wirh *ssholes (tons of service medals, highest award was Purple Heart because of often being flagged).
