Holiday Open Thread

Happy Presidents Day! We’re approaching the 1 month mensiversary of when President Donald Trump started his second term. A lot has been accomplished since then. Thus, for the United States, today takes on an additional reason to celebrate. Trump is tentatively set to provide the State of the Union Address on March 4, 2025. Democrat reactions to this event should provide us with additional meme material. Enjoy the balance of your weekend!

    1. Dang! They distracted Hack with the chow hall story. He knew there would be a Holiday Open Thread.

    2. Holiday Open Threads are like special elections held when the current office holder vacates the seat. You see signs everywhere about voting, but you’re lucky if seven people actually show up to vote.

      1. Yeah, but a win is a win. I’ll just sit here in my corner office with no windows by the utility room with the loud furnace and rearrange stuff until Friday.

Or until somebody comes by and tells me to get back to work.

        1. Since today is a federal holiday, we can look forward to the chow serving the traditional President’s Day Holiday Meal of Lima Beans and Toast.

              1. I used that term in the below let them eat cake post API before going on this site. We had C rats up the wazoo onboard the LPH-3 and used them while I was in the NYSNG 1975-1977

        2. Is the room vented with the bathroom air circulation. Then it would be like my old office. Smelled like piss all day.

            1. I use a piss tube at my cabin. 24” water pipe on end. I roll it to a new location every year. Add ashes from the stove and it keeps the smell down.

    3. A Congolese Rat for your HOTness, Odie. I yield up my string of HOT Thrones, giving you the Glory of reigning on The Throne of HOT until it gets…well…hot…or at least warms up considerably. I’ve been in The HOT Seat for a good while now and was rooting for you to step up. My inherweb has been slower to load than the coming of the much ballyhooed Y3K Soft Wear promised by a certain Vice President of Media Relations, representing a Proud, but Humble, woman owned company operating out of a doorless mailbox in and around Bethesda, Murderland. Maybe you’ll have better luck finding Elaine Ricci. She’s been as elusive as Classic British car parts.

      1. I’m only in charge for a few days, so I won’t go implementing anything new. And since it’s a federal holiday, that cuts it down more.

The best I can do, is relax the rules for showing up late(ish)/leaving early(ish), extending lunches etc.

So, if you promise you won’t run with a scissors, stick screwdrivers into electrical sockets and try to pick up after yourselves even just a little, we’ll be golden.

        1. Don’t pet stray dogs.
DON’T piss on the electric fence.

          My two cents worth! 😀

        2. The HOT and WOT are different contests. The WOT first still has the WOT throne, you’ll have the HOT throne until the next HOT. If you get the next HOT first, you’ll keep the throne until the next HOT after that.

        3. Nope on the few days thing. As thebesig points out YOU are stuck on the HOT Throne until the next HOT. Which may and/or may not be St Paddy’s Day (doubtful since it is not an Official Holiday). May not even be until 20 April (420 not an Official Holiday per se) which could be either (a) An Easter Open Thread or (b) Holiday Open Thread. That designation would be up to the poster of the Open Thread…in the past the designation has been either/or. Hence the phrase in my comment “…warms up considerably.” It usually is fairly warm here in God’s Country by mid-April. Your next shot at leaving the HOT Throne would not come until Mother’s Day (HOT/MDOT (no NOT Missouri Department of Transportation) Mother’s Day Open Thread, sho’ ’nuff considerably warmer by then. That brings us to a for sure HOT for The Memorial Day (a legal fed.gov Holiday) Open Thread…again the chance of it being a HOT or an MDOT.

Suck it up, Buttercup, you’re screwed and WILL NOT be relieved of your duties of being… “in charge for a few days,…” anytime soon. Now…all of that being said…where’s some snacky stuff…the troops are getting hungry (see the “Let them eat cake” thread for proof). And, no…we do NOT want cold lima beans and stale toast. In Honor of the two (2) Prezzys that this day is earmarked for (not that I think much of Old (Dis)Honest Abe (he being the one that started the march to a despotic centralized Fed.Gov…can you say, suspended writ of Habeas Corpus? Arresting political opponents? Closing down newspaper offices? Banishing ones that disagree with you? I knew you could!), I would suggest some chicken Frika Cee (Abe’s favorite) and some cherry pie (Why you think George chopped down that tree?). I want a side order of cat headed biskets (for sopping up purposes) to go with the chicken and some vanilla bean ice cream on my cherry pie. Hop to it, your Lordship, we burning daylight.

    1. Wow.

OK, present and accounted for and a chilly 54 in the house because we lost power about 4 o’clock this morning because of the mid Atlantic wind storms.
We have puppies blankets and sweaters we will survive besides I’m going to get my taxes done today so will be out in the car after a while. It will be warm. I have two generators outback, but I’m not gonna go ahead and fire those up for stupid crap, or just suffer for 12 hours. Its estimated to be back on by this evening.

  1. if you want additional entertainment, check out “r/fednews” on Reddit. The delusion and ego are strong among this group. They’re acting like we’re a bunch of “fools” or “people who don’t know better” simply because we’re cheering for all of these firings/layoffs. They’re parading this move as having negative impacts on the United States.

These folks think that what they are doing is “for a good cause”, that they’re needed, and can’t figure out why people outside of the DC metropolitan area are cheering the government downsizing.

    Here’s one gem:

A government is not a business. Profit and capitalism is not its goal. The government is meant to govern and support its people. Its measures of success and efficiency and its effectiveness should be measured by the quality of life of its people.

For those living in Virginia, this is potentially a good thing. Northern Virginia is heavily democrat and is the main reason for Virginia going blue. Draining the swamp in DC could potentially flip Virginia red during presidential elections.

    1. Those pesky year long probation periods are a bitch if you just got hired a few months before a new boss shows up.

    2. if you want additional entertainment, check out “r/fednews” on Reddit.

      Wow, that was eye-opening.
Those people have lived their entire lives with a sense security nobody else in America gets. Now they are crying that they are about to lose their jobs.
      Welcome to the real world.

  2. Present and unaccountable as I award myself yet another Honorary First!

    ((((OVER))))

The release of Epstein’s list looks apparent.

  3. Is this true?

Marines were once not allowed to wear reflective safety belts at Goodfellow Air Force Base in Texas after they were caught putting the belt on deer as troophies.

    What happened?

Marines were visiting the base for a joint exercise.

They snuck out of the base and ambushed deer.

They put their belts on the deer as trophies.

Security forces noticed the reflective belts moving through the bushes.

They chased the belts but couldn’t catch them.

A guard caught one of the and saw that it had “Marines with Love” written on it.

The Marines were no longer allowed to wear reflective safety belts.

  4. Ukrainian asking Americans how they feel about their Donald Trump vote (X thread). I feel great about it, and so do millions of Americans. Too many people don’t understand what President Trump has in mind. In the long run, Trump’s plan for a stronger, more prosperous, United States does not bode well for Russia’s economy, especially since they’re also headed for a demographic crises. Thus Trump offers a better plan. Stop the fighting, we will finish this diplomatically and economically just like Reagan did in the last century.

      1. I’m fine with sending Ukraine our TX’d junk. Or shit we wanna see tested the right way.
But our citizens need their own tax dollars. Especially considering the state of some of our infrastructure.
That’s if some Libtards don’t waste it first.

  5. Elon Musk/DOGE discover millions of Social Security accounts of people between 100 and 159 years old. One person was between 360 and 369 years old. Their death fields were set to “False”.

“According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE! Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security,” Musk posted, adding a couple of rolling on the floor laughing emojis.

His post features a chart indicating there are more than 20 million listed with ages 100 and higher, including more than 3.9 million in the 130-139 age range, more than 3.5 million in the 140-149 range and more than 1.3 million in the 150-159 range.

    1. Now that’s just crap Elon’s found– who felt it wasn’t “cost-effective” to stop this sh*t?

      1. Don’t worry, the commie will be soon to tell us
        1. This is all lies
        2. If it’s not lies, it’s good thing that we’re still paying SS to these people
        3. We’re racist ( or nazis, depending on his mood) for even bringing it up

    1. When driving on a gravel road, slow the fuck down when driving past, the gravel your tires sling will fuck up a wind shield and paint!

    2. Good info there!

As to the funeral, you pull over, stop, take your hat off, and if at all possible get out of the car and stand in honor of the deceased.

  6. Delta had one land belly up on the tarmac in Ontario. My current’s brother in law was on the plane and is on his way to the hospital.

  7. The IRS subjected Pete Hegseth right after he was announced as Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense:

    1. The people who did so are TDS infected, disingenuous, lying assholes. The air traffic controllers are CANADIANS! So, until Canada becomes the 51st state, Trump has no control over Canadian airspace or it’s control towers.

  8. Any of you Adorable Deplorables listen to WMAL? The Chris Plante Show on WMAL in Washington DC just had some asshole named “Hack from Bethesda” on the air. Someone needs to send a team of crackheads with blowtorches and pliers to take care of his ass.

  9. Hack Stone is sending out a distress call to any Army veterans who could enlighten Hack. Final Jeopardy category is Army Installations. Are Kelley Barracks and Patch Barracks separate military installations, or are they actually physical buildings on the same installation in Stuttgart? Hack is trying to keep some hardware inventories assigned to the correct locations with the vendor support contracts, and Cisco has Hack completely discombobulated. And anyone who can set Hack straight will receive a complementary copy of Y3K software.

    1. Hack did a Quick Look on Al Gore’s Amazing Internet. “How far is Kelley Barracks from Patch Barracks?” One response said they were 3 Kilometers apart. Another answer says the fastest way from Kelley to Patch Barracks is to drive, fly and train, and the trip takes 16 hours and 9 minutes. But that must be applicable to the newbie taking a cab back to base.

  10. Just wanted to update over 300,000 has been raised by my friend for Fallen Patriots. He will keep going until he’s raised 1 million.
